Climate-compensating" tree planting humbug

Me say nothing about this, I live too close to GT. Small note Finland has been carbon neutral for well over 10 years perhaps closer to 20 but we still pay tax

"Climate-compensating" tree planting humbug - on the contrary leads to increased emissions

"Aerial comb" and "climate compensation" are concepts launched by the climate alarmist movement that believe that the downfall of the earth in global warming is imminent. Air travelers are intimidated to pay for planting a number of trees that will absorb as much carbon dioxide as they release into the atmosphere through their travels. Studies now judge the scheme as a scam that instead increases emissions while depleting biodiversity.
Independent researchers outside the climate alarmist sphere have, among other things, studied alleged climate-compensating tree planting in Chile and China. What has been noted is that the plantings create more emissions than the planted trees absorb. In connection with the planting work, large quantities of carbon-based substances are released from the soil.

The researchers are also critical of how mass planting of the same tree type on large areas creates ecological imbalance and depletion of biodiversity in large areas of land, which, in addition to other risks, also creates biotopes that are worse at absorbing carbon dioxide compared to more natural ones. .
Sold in as a way to deaf "flight comb"
The climate-alarmist movement has, through recesses in various bodies and scientific journals, sold the income-generating concept to many political decision-makers with pressure support from ordinary citizens who are convinced to feel "airborne" and are told that they can deaf it by paying for climate-compensating tree planting. Studies now reveal that the scheme can be condemned as a form of peasant prison.
The researchers judge, among other things, a well-publicized study published in the journal Science last year in which it was claimed that two-thirds of the greenhouse gases emitted since the industrialization began could be linked by extensive tree planting. Many studyable political decisions for the climate alarmist movement have been made with the study as a basis.
Receives support from researchers in Sweden
One of the researchers behind the reveal of the climate bluff is Anping Chen at Colorado State University. She has led the investigation into the alleged climate-compensating tree planting in China and she is also supported by researchers in Sweden.
- This is an important and well-made study because measured in reality and it has relevance for us in Sweden as Northern China's climate is similar to ours. The results show the risk of exaggerating forest planting as a climate solution, says 'sustainability researcher' Wim Carton at Lund University in a [url=https://www.svt.se/nyheter/vetenskap/forskare-tradplantering-ingen-losning-pa-klimatkrisen]comment to SVT
 .
Waste of tax money
Another researcher, Eric Lambin at Stanford University in the United States, is critical that large sums of taxpayers' money be funneled into the climate alarmist cash register for projects launched with false marketing as environmentally friendly but which are in fact environmentally destructive.
- If the policy of stimulating tree planting is poorly designed, there is a high risk of not only wasting tax money but also emitting more carbon dioxide and losing biodiversity.

Seems like the thing to do with other people's tax dollars.  Give 'em away to your friends ... and shove 'em into your kids pocketses, if no one's looking, Precious.
'Cause if they catch you in the backseat tryin'ta pick her locks
They're gonna send you home to momma in a cardboard box
