Are We Getting Worse As Humans?
#1
Are we becoming the Morlocks of degradation, is there a real Evil walking the Earth or is it that standards
have dropped due to cultural differences?

Quote:Pregnant woman strangled and has baby cut from womb after responding to offer on Facebook.

The victim's family says she was lured to a property by a woman who said she had spare clothes to give away.

'A pregnant woman who responded to an offer of free baby clothes on Facebook was strangled and had her
child cut from her womb, say Chicago police.

The body of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, 19, was found behind a house in Chicago on Wednesday, three weeks after
she was last seen leaving her high school. "We believe that she was murdered, and we believe that the baby was
forcibly removed following that murder," said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

The baby is said to be in a serious condition and is not expected to survive.

Three people are in custody. Two, 46-year-old Clarisa Figueroa and her 24-year-old daughter Desiree, were charged
with murder. The mother's boyfriend, 40-year-old Piotr Bobak, was charged with concealment of a homicide.

Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, 19, was already the mother to one young son. Ms Ochoa-Lopez's husband has visited his son in hospital.

The victim's family said she had been lured to the home by a woman on Facebook who was offering baby clothes and
a pushchair. "She was giving clothes away, supposedly under the pretence that her daughters had been given clothes
and they had all these extra boy clothes," said family spokeswoman Cecelia Garcia.

Ms Ochoa-Lopez's family had been organising search parties and publicising her disappearance.
The breakthrough came when a woman set up a fundraising page saying she needed money for a funeral because her
baby was about to die, according to Sara Walker - another spokeswoman for the victim's family.

The same woman had called emergency services the day Ms Ochoa-Lopez disappeared to say her newborn was having
trouble breathing. The baby was taken to hospital and DNA tests later found the baby actually belonged to Ms Ochoa-Lopez.

Yiovanni Lopez, the baby's father, has been visiting his son in hospital.
"Why did these people, why did these bad people, do this? She did nothing to them," Mr Lopez told reporters in Spanish.
"She was a good person." Ms Ochoa-Lopez was already mother to one young son...'

Explanation: To answer the questions directly posed by the Threads title and in the first sentence of the OP ... the simple answer is NO!

The long answer is ... Goddamnit Och NOoooooooooooooooooooo! ... and here is why? ...

Here is where the standards are to test them are ... They never 'dropped'! We never met them in the first place BIAD.

UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Quote:Article 1.

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

This document is the ONLY commonly agreed upon document (for example I do NOT agree that all it takes to be human is genetic homo sapiens DNA equivilence to make you human) that we have available and article one TOTALLY defines what it is to be human (note that it doesn't say when one is born human and its exactly the same as when is one becomes a born again christian) and the two properties required, reason/logic and caring/conscience, CAN be tested for.

Nobody is born human because babies can't consent to taking the tests (plural ok) to see whether they are human or not and there are two tests to take and they will fail at least one of the tests if not both.

Babies are often unreasonable and also don't care about everything and are mostly selfish and unreasonable.

Hence people are born as MONSTERS and they remain that way for most if not all of their lives. It's the rare few who grow to meet both standards required and its very hard to remain human and therefor humane as one can easily lose their humanity and its harder to get back the 2nd and subsequent times.

Monsters are ALREADY devolved. They are usually lazy and dumb .. but occasionally they are very industrious and work hard at being dumb and that causes even more problems.

Personal Disclosure: Here is a prime example of a REAL human being ... Her name is Sandra and she is from the Orangutang species. She was found to be human in a court of law and given human rights, which have been unfortunately ignored currently.

Argentina Grants an Orangutan Human-Like Rights

An appeals court sets a precedent by giving an ape legal rights to life, liberty and freedom from harm

Sandra Orangutan Declared a Person With a Right to Freedom
An Argentine court has recognized intelligence as a reason to confer personhood

AS for real evil walking the earth that is a big YES and I said we start out and mostly remain monsters our whole lives. If you're not a conservative born again christian [aka Catholic ... although Orthodox has the correct understanding but they don't have the numbers required to be a majority] then you're a satanist.

It takes a shyteload of compassion, forgiveness (aka Grace) and reasonable logical understanding to become human ok and both can easily be affected for the worse by many things in life.

I hope this clears things up for everybody and answers the questions posed.

Police found explicit images of a woman having sex with a snake after raiding a dad's home.
'Officers seized the phone and also discovered 600 indecent images of children on the mobile which
belonged to father-of-two, 56-year-old John Avery.

His mobile phone also contained images of bestiality -including women having sex with a dog, horse and snake.
Police seized the content after obtaining a search warrant to raid his home in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham.

Mitigating, Joseph Keating told Birmingham Crown Court: "A lot of these items were sent to him and he did not open
them immediately. "However, he did open them, saw the images and kept them."
Keating said at the time Avery's sex life had taken a downward turn and the matter had since had a devastating effect
on his family.

SEIZED: Police found explicit and unsavoury images on John Avery's phone.

Avery had worked in the jewellery trade for more than 40 years but he is now living on a canal boat in Norton Canes,
near Walsall. He had previously admitted three charges of making indecent images, processing a prohibited image
and possessing extreme pornography.

Judge Roderick Henderson said: "These are not victimless crimes. The photos involve real children to whom real things
are being done. "The court will do it's best to protect these children."
Henderson sentenced Avery to a three year community order and ordered him to sign on the sex offenders register for
five years.

Defending his decision to not pass a prison sentence, Henderson said that it would have only been short and Avery would
have likely been able to spent time with pedophiles...'

He is an interesting story in a Swedish news paper. Taxi leaves an old woman 40m from here home in the winter, the old Lady was returning from treatment at hospital. The poor Lady was found dead in the snow next day.
The bastard taxi driver was too lazy to get out of his car to help her.( If I remember right its the law that disabled people must be got to there home safe not dumped near to it.)
Thing is the taxi driver was from Iraq.
Thing is I cant ever remember a "Finnish or Swedish" taxi driver ever doing that, so i believe also that the problem does not lie so much with our culture, but more with what we have let in.

Quote:Illegal Alien Convicted of Raping Dog to Death Released by Sanctuary State.

'An illegal alien convicted of raping a dog to death was released by the sanctuary state of Oregon after being
sentenced to just 60 days in prison.

As Breitbart News reported, illegal alien Fidel Lopez, 52-years-old, was convicted last month and sentenced to 60
days in prison after raping his girlfriend’s small Lhasa Apso which led to the dog’s death. The judge in the case said
he would have given the illegal alien more prison time but that 60 days is the maximum sentence allowed in Oregon.

Following his sentence, Lopez was immediately released because he had already served 60 days while waiting to
stand trial. Despite his illegal alien status, Multnomah County, Oregon officials released Lopez back into the community.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency had requested that the illegal alien be turned over to them
for deportation should he be released from prison. The sanctuary state officials ignored the ICE request and released
the illegal alien into the public.

“On April 8, Lopez was convicted of sexual assault of an animal and aggravated animal abuse and sentenced to 60 days
in jail with credit for time served,” ICE spokeswoman Tanya J. Roman told the New York Daily News.
“The Multnomah County Jail did not honor the immigration detainer and released him without notice to ICE.”

“Sanctuary policies not only provide a refuge for illegal aliens, but they also shield criminal aliens who prey on people in
their own and other communities,” Roman said. Now, ICE officials have taken Lopez into custody where they expect he
will be deported from the U.S....'

Quote:Teenager arrested after girl, 12, 'raped in woods' in Sheffield.

'Police have arrested a teenager over the reported rape of a 12-year-old girl in a woodland in Sheffield.
South Yorkshire Police said officers were called shortly after 3.30am on Sunday following reports the youngster
was attacked in Richmond Heights Woods.

A large cordon was put in place around the woods while forensic examination work was carried out.
Police later arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the incident and he remains in custody.

Temporary detective inspector Tom Woodward appealed on Tuesday for any witnesses to come forward, or anyone
who may have heard anything suspicious in the area on Sunday morning. He said: "The girl and her family continue to
receive support from specialist officers and we are continuing with our inquiries to establish the exact circumstances
surrounding the incident and provide reassurance in the area."...'

I think about this question a lot because I see the victims of trauma on a regular basis. Some days I think that we are hopeless and that the whole world is going to Hell in a hand basket. But I find hope in the fact that every time I hear of these kind of atrocities, it is still shocking, because they are still rare in their occurrences. I find hope in the fact that these acts make me physically ill, they make me furious, and they make me want to stop them.

I fear the global sharing of these events, mainly for shock value, titillation, and attention, will increase there occurrences, because for some people, bad attention is better than no attention, and they will accept hate, if they are deprived of love, just so they will feel something.

These evil acts have little to do with race, culture or geography. Evil runs through the veins of all that will give it a home.

I think that the world has always been full of monsters.

We hear more about them now because of the medias and social networks.

Also, factor in the world population at 7.8 billion people, to be over 9 billion by 2050, that measures up to a shitload of new monsters still in infancy and/or not even born yet.

Won't get any better any time soon.

My thoughts exactly. Atrocities like these have been part and parcel of human existence since the get go. However, I don't believe that we are born as monsters, I think it's more likely that some people are born lacking something. Some have no empathy or remorse and I strongly suspect that some are soulless. Evil is real, but there are still good people out there.

I agree with SOL and Wondercow, its always been the same. I believe we are all born evil, no matter how good a person is given the right conditions they will do evil. If you want to take a dark look at humans they do two things, Evil and less Evil.
Some religions embrace evil, some try to fight it but at the end of the day its the question of the level of evil.

I totally agree.  To bring down an evil person, I found, I had to think evil and undertake some very 'out of the ordinary' things.

I don't consider myself evil, just that, well I found a lot of evil people smart and to get them you had to step outside the rules or guidelines.  This isn't considered fair.  Not that I did anything evil to outsiders, just the target nasty person.  I saw a lot walk but did see some get what was coming to them.

In saying that I subtly used evil to counter evil and masked the existence of such.  Now, being in retirement years I still see it many times on an individual level but I'm a bit worn out and the past is difficult to live with.  I question my methodology.  Hence I am a bit of a loner and often suspicious.

Gone out on a limb here but my elder brother put it succinctly once in saying, "You've seen too much evil."  Yeah, I now agree and am trying to repair that but the thoughts and visions still haunt me.  I shake my head at times and my 'true love' wife says, "Stop thinking about it."  Why do people do such things to others let alone their family, children, friends and pets.

My thoughts,

Bally.

There is a saying "For evil to win it only takes good men to do nothing"
People must understand that for "good " to fight "evil" good must become more evil than evil if it is to win, then good must pull its self back from the evil.
Thing is good never fully pulls its self back from evil, each time good fights evil and pulls its self back from evil the good base line is moved a little more to evil.
Many things that were seen as evil 30 years ago are now see as normal and part of life. The base line of good resets each time it fights evil but always resets pushing good closer to evil.

You have made me think. What you posted has a strong ring of truth to it, yet it seems to be missing something.

What is troubling me is that, as many have said, man is not a stranger to evil. In fact, evil seems to be a frequent companion. A companion that most of us try to reject and ignore. Sometimes we are more successful at keeping our own evil at bay, than at other times.

There is an old Native American story that speaks of that constant battle we wage.

I write not to gather approval nor dis approval, I write what I see and feel because I can. I do not write to offend people but will not step back from offending but the offence is on the other side and not targeted at any one person. One of the true good and horrors of humans is that two humans can look at the same thing, one sees good the other sees horror

The older I get, the worse I think it is!

Then I also see the good side to us more often too.

Some days I feel sick to my stomach when I read things like that, other days I am filled with hope when seeing people do selfless things and when we come together, even for a brief moment.

So my answer is, I don't know!

I enjoy forums where people openly and honestly communicate. I find myself intrigued and puzzled, more than offended, when I come across a post that shares a viewpoint that runs opposite of mine. I frequently make the mistake of thinking if I properly educated the person with the opposing mindset, they will see the error in their thinking, and make an adjustment. That is always a mistake, because that never happens.  minusculebiggrin

My friends are honest and correct when they call me an information junkie. I can be obnoxious in my quest for understanding. Everyone has an opinion, and it is usually based on their own life experiences, but the overwhelming influence of the media and the virtual infusion of social media, has made many exchange reality and commonsense, for a world lived vicariously. This often creates a huge problem, because a vicarious experience brings out emotions on a much deeper, sometimes visceral level. It is extremely difficult to come to terms with truth or reality when you have to first win the battle of emotions.

Reminds me of an evening some years ago, there was a lively discussion on the go but I was enjoying the sun and my whisky too much to get involved. Then one young Lady said "If every one had the same point of view( meaning the POV she had ) the world would be a better place. I answered "What if that POV was lets go to war ", Then another Lady said "Diversity, cant live with it cant live with out it, lets just blow the fu#king place up "

I think as we grow older we grow not wiser, but perhaps more aware. Our life experiences become resource data from which we can use to make better choices and decisions. As it has been said, some things you can't unsee, especially those things that we find repugnant.

I think evil is multilayered. It is hard for me to explain what I mean because the word itself immediately generates a mental image for each of us, and it is never static. Evil is constantly morphing, sometimes it is so translucent that it is near impossible to see.

Hope is what I think keeps most of us afloat. Love and compassion is what keeps away the darkness.
