Hi Team,

I'm going to migrate my ATS threads across to here over the next few weeks for preservation purposes.

Cheers.

The following accounts of strange events remain the subject of mysteries and miracles to this day - the stories themselves are truly chilling in their details. In some of these cases extensive scientific & forensic analysis has been undertaken leaving skeptics and believers scratching their heads as to the cause and/or anomalies surrounding the case(s).

Although I have provided only a very brief account of the particular event and where possible pictures, I would encourage you to hit the link for the full story. There is a wealth of information from various sources online if you wish to explore any in further detail.

Enjoy...................

1. The Bloop
[Image: qs5052eb51.jpg]

Quote:This sound was repeatedly recorded during summer, 1997 on the Equatorial Pacific Ocean autonomous hydrophone array. The sound rises rapidly in frequency over about one minute and was of sufficient amplitude to be heard on multiple sensors, at a range of over 5,000 km. It yields a general location near 50oS; 100oW. The origin of the sound is unknown.

It originated from a point about 1,500 miles west of the southern Chilean coast. It was powerful enough to be picked up on sensors located up to 3,000 miles away, making it one of the most powerful noises ever recorded underwater. The sound lasted for just over a minute and has not been detected since.

It should be pointed out now that the NOAA has checked with the Navy and other groups to rule out human-made sources in this and the rest of these cases.

2. The Versailles Time-Slip.

Quote:
In August of 1901, Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain decided to visit the Palace of Versailles in France. As they were not impressed with the palace after touring it, they decided to walk through the gardens to the Petit Trianon. On the way, however, they learned that they were closed to the public that day and, instead, decided to explore the grounds some more.
Soon, the two ladies were lost and, as they put it, overcome with a feeling of weariness and oppression. Soon, they began to notice things that were out of place -- dignified officials in three cornered hats, an old plough and farmhouse, and other people and things that appeared as through they belonged more in a wax museum than the streets of 20th century Paris.
After many specific events, they eventually rejoined the party of other visitors. The strange feelings and visions of the past had vanished.
It was many months before the women told of their strange encounters. Visiting Versailles sometime later, the women were not able to find the landmarks that they had noticed during the incident.

3. The Taman Shud Case

Quote:
During the early morning of December 1, 1948, the body of a man was discovered on Somerton Beach in Australia. Little did the the authorities on the scene realize that they were about to witness the birth of a very strange mystery. The man discovered that day was in peak physical condition and as dressed very well, but all of the labels on his clothing had been removed. In his pocket was a train ticket for a ride he obviously missed on account of his being dead and all.
Although investigators believed that the man must have been poisoned, no traces of any foreign agent was discovered during an autopsy. Some still maintain that the Somerton Man died of some type of undetectable poisoning because there was no other explanation for his death. A month later police discovered a brown suitcase at Adelaide Railway station that might have belonged to the mysterious Somerton Man. The brown suitcase had its label removed just like the unidentified man’s clothing and inside were clothes that had also had the labels removed. Inside the bag was a stenciling brush, electrician’s screwdriver, and a pair of scissors normally used for stenciling. Unfortunately, the suitcase proved to be another dead end. With all leads non-existent, the months passed by until June of 1949 when investigators had the body reexamined and discovered a secret pocket in the man’s clothing that contained a scrap of paper with the words “Taman Shud” printed on it.

Upon a closer inspection of the paper it was discovered that the scrap came from a collection of poems entitled The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. This discovery led to a media blitz in an attempt to find the book the page was torn from. The campaign was successful as a man stepped forward with a rare first edition copy of Edward Fitzgerald’s translation of The Rubaiyat, which he said he found in the back seat of his car the night before the unidentified man’s body was found. In the back of the book scrawled out faintly in pencil was a strange code. Also written in the book was the phone number of a former nurse who, while serving in World War II, gave a copy of The Rubaiyat to an army officer named Alfred Boxall. Boxall's copy of The Rubaiyat was still intact, though, and both parties denied any connection to the unidentified dead man.

Even now, after over 60 years, the mystery of the Somerton Man remains unsolved. No one knows who he was, what the phrase "Taman Shud" was supposed to mean, or what the mysterious code is supposed to represent. There has been speculation over the years that the man was a spy, but none of it has remotely been proven.

4. The Cokeville mystery

Quote:
The Cokeville Miracle is about an Elementary School hostage crisis that occurred on May 16, 1986, in Cokeville, Wyoming, United States, when former town marshal David Young, and his wife Doris Young, took 167 children and adults hostage at Cokeville Elementary School. David Young entered the school with his wife transporting a large gasoline-filled device that appeared to be a bomb. At one point Doris Young lifted her arm sharply and the bomb went off prematurely, injuring Doris Young while David Young was out of the room. Returning to the scene, David Young shot his wife, then himself. All the hostages escaped, though 79 were later hospitalized with burns and injuries.

Bomb experts remained baffled as the explosive should have leveled the entire building. The children maintain that they were visited by Angels whom told them to remain calm and that they would be saved

5. The Solway Firth Spaceman

This particular story is mired in conspiracy and has the public divided. Me, i'll post it here for your discernment because its steeped in ATS philosophy.....strip it and lets get to the bottom of it once and for all. "The GUT" might find this story interesting as well because the M.I.B feature therein.

Bloody good story nonetheless......

Quote:
On May 24th, 1964, Jim Templeton, a fireman from Carlisle in North England, snapped some pictures of his young daughter out to the marches overlooking the Solway Firth. Although it was an uneventful outing, Templeton and his family noticed an odd "aura" to the area there - as if there was an electric charge in the air before a storm.
No storm came, but Templeton did observe that some nearby cows seems overly upset and spooked. A few days later, after the film was developed, Templeton was shocked to discover that a strange man appeared in one of the photos of his daughter even though they had been alone on the marshes. The man appeared to be wearing a space suit like an astronaut! Kodak offered a reward for anyone able to give a rational explanation for the space man picture, but no one was able to. Experts concluded that the picture was not the result of a double exposure, nor was it the result of tampering with the negative.

Quote:
The mystery didn't end there.
Templeton reported that shortly after the picture became public, he was harassed by men in dark suits who asked him odd questions about the weather conditions on the marsh, bird behaviors, and what Templeton was doing out there on the first place. They then tried to make him admit that he had faked the picture and, when Templeton refused to, they became angry and left.

6. The Dyatlov Pass incident.

Stories like this one are show-stoppers. Please hit the link because the following simply does not do this story justice.

Quote:
Ten very experienced ski hikers departed on a trip towards Russia's Otorten Mountain. On January 25, 1959, the group reached Ivdel and took a truck north to Vizhai.
It was the last time any of them were seen alive.
On the 26th, the rescuers came across the team's abandoned campsite. It was deserted and the tent was badly damaged as if something had ripped through it. Oddly, it appeared not as if something had tried to get into the tent, but rather like someone had ripped their way out. Tracks were found leading away from the camp and, 500 meters away, the found the first two hikers next to the remains of a campfire - both of them were dead, shoeless, and in only their underwear. Between the position of the first bodies, they found three more. The positions of the corpses suggested that they were trying to return to the original camp, but succumbed along the way. It was two months later that the remaining four hikers were found further into the woods.

7. The Russian ground anomolies.

Quote:
A strange phenomena is happening in some Russian forests. People are finding strange, deep holes. They appear in the dense forest, in the places you can’t get on the car or truck to bring any device to drill the ground. There is no soil nearby that should be taken from such deep hole. When people are brave enough to venture into the holes, they find that they end abruptly in the darkness. There are no any reasonable ideas on how these holes appear and what they are being used for. No one knows who or what is digging these holes or why.

8. The Canine Suicide enigma - Overtoun Bridge.

This story is personally upsetting but needs to be told nonetheless...........

dailymail.co.uk

Quote:
The Overtoun Bridge is an arch bridge located near Milton, Dumbarton, Scotland which was built in 1859 and has become famous for the number of unexplained instances in which dogs have apparently committed suicide by leaping off of it.
The incidents were first recorded around the 1950's or 1960's when it was noticed that dogs - usually the long-nosed variety like Collies - would suddenly and unexpectedly leap off the bridge and fall fifty feet to their deaths. In some cases, however, the dogs would survive, recuperate, and then leap off the bridge again.
The locals have a name for these dogs: second-timers. What makes this tragic mystery even more mysterious is that many of the dogs that jump from Overton Bridge jump from the same side and from almost the same spot: between the final two parapets on the right-hand side of the bridge.

Poveglia Island is one of many island in the lagoons of Venice, Italy but instead of being a place of beauty, the island is a festering blemish in the shimmering sea and is not only regarded as one of the most haunted locations on the planet, but also one of the most evil places in the world. Today no one visits save to harvest the vineyards. Fishermen even steer clear of the island for fear that they will catch human bones in their nets.

10. The Tale from the Crypt.

Quote:
The Chase Vault was first built by The Honorable James Elliot. The first occupant of the vault was James Elliot's wife, Elizabeth, who died on May 14th, 1792. From there on, upon opening the tomb for subsequent burials, the coffins have been violently shuffled about - this has been investigated on numerous occasions and the obvious ruled out - this eerie scenario played out over generations, its not water ingress & not foul play - hit the link...if you dare!

11. The Voynich manuscript

Quote:
The Voynich manuscript, described as "the world's most mysterious manuscript", is a work which dates to the early 15th century, possibly from northern Italy. It is named after the book dealer Wilfrid Voynich, who purchased it in 1912. Some pages are missing, but the current version comprises about 240 vellum pages, most with illustrations.
Much of the manuscript resembles herbal manuscripts of the time period, seeming to present illustrations and information about plants and their possible uses for medical purposes. However, most of the plants do not match known species, and the manuscript's script and language remain unknown and unreadable. Possibly some form of encrypted ciphertext, the Voynich manuscript has been studied by many professional and amateur cryptographers, including American and British codebreakers from both World War I and World War II.

As yet, it has defied all decipherment attempts, becoming a cause célèbre of historical cryptology. The mystery surrounding it has excited the popular imagination, making the manuscript a subject of both fanciful theories and novels. None of the many speculative solutions proposed over the last hundred years has yet been independently verified.
The Voynich manuscript was donated to Yale University's Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library in 1969, where it is catalogued under call number MS 408 and called a "Cipher Manuscript"

12. Rock Frogs

Quote:
This mummified corpse of a frog was found in a hollow flint 'geode' which was cracked open in 1899 by workmen in a quarry in England. There have been many reports of frogs found inside rocks; some still living in a kind of stupor but which revived once exposed to the air. In 1910 a living toad was found when a piece of coal was broken open; another was found in 1906 six feet (2 m) underground in a solid layer of clay. The most commonly found seem to be stuck in limestone. Some frogs have been found with the impression of their bodies so tightly jammed against the rock 'pocket' that even the skin's crackles can be seen imprinted on the sides of their frog-shaped hole --meaning the rock formed around them somehow.

13. Strange rain.

Quote:
Weird rain is one of the more bizarre - and still largely unexplained - phenomena that is periodically (yet continually) reported from all corners of the globe. There have been accounts of frog rain, fish rain, squid rain, worm rain, even alligator rain. The logical explanation for the odd occurrences is that a tornado or strong whirlwind picked up the animals from a shallow body of water and carried them - sometimes for hundreds of miles - before dropping them on a bewildered populace. This explanation has yet to be proved, and it can't quite account for all of the documented incidents

14. The Hessdalen lights

Quote:
The Hessdalen lights. The eerie display of brilliant bursts of lights in the sky that has plagued Norway since the 19th century has the scientific world scratching their heads. For centuries, people around the world have witnessed a strange phenomenon - orbs of light hovering in the night sky. Some say the lights chased after them as they drove away in their cars, and military pilots have reported spotting the lights on secret missions. Many wonder if the lights could be ghosts, or visitors from outer space.

These strange lights have always intrigued me - they display properties that one would attribute to the basic premise of Unidentified Flying Objects and seemingly "other-worldly" in their manouvers. This year a serious scientific analysis was undertaken to explain them and I will leave it to you to read and draw your conclusions as you see fit.

15. The Ourang Medan - high strangeness on the high seas

The “mother of all mysteries”. As some of you are aware, I have a maritime career and this, without doubt, continues to give me the chills for many many reasons. We’ve all heard of the stories of ghost ships and other maritime tales but perhaps you are not familiar with the SS Ourang Medan..

This story is so strange that there has been debate as to whether the vessel even existed in the first place - the USCG's testimony appears to favour the tale as being authentic.

You are going to have to hit the link because any summary will not do this tale justice!

Here is a teaser............

Quote:
All the crew and officers of the Ourang Medan were dead, their eyes open, faces looking towards the sun, arms outstretched and a look of terror on their faces. Even the ship's dog was dead, found with a snarling expression at some unseen enemy. When nearing the bodies in the boiler room, the rescue crew felt a chill though the temperature was near 110°F.

16. The Viking Lenses

These remarkable "lenses" (also called the Visby Lenses) were discovered in Viking graves on the Baltic Sea island of Gotland, Sweden. They have such unbelievable imaging properties that attempts to optimize their performance using computers has failed - pretty good considering they are over 800 years old!!

Do they remind you of something else that is steeped in mystery, is crystal like and also displays amazing manufacturing qualities (the Crystal skulls).

Quote:
After several years of painstaking analyses, eyeglass experts have now confirmed that the ground rock crystal objects from the 12th century found in Swedish Viking graves were made almost to perfection.
If the lens is placed on a text page, the effect is the same as that obtained with a modern magnification glass measuring 5cm in diameter. It was not until the 17th century that mathematician René Descartes successfully made theoretical calculations about aspherical lenses. However, this precision technology was not known to have been used in practice before the 20th century.
So how did they develop such sophisticated optical devices 8 centuries ago? Researchers from the University of California at Berkeley now want to further investigate the sensational "Viking" lenses. It is generally believed that the unusual items were originally manufactured in Byzantium, where they were purchased or stolen by the Vikings.

17. The Black Forest Haunting.

Ahh......If you don't believe in ghosts, in the next 15 or so minutes you will !!

Quote:
The Black Forest haunting is considered to be one of the strongest and most inexplicable hauntings on record. When Steve Lee and his wife Beth discovered a large log home in the Black Forest region of northern Colorado in 1991, they rented it and then purchased it one year later.
Within a few weeks of signing the papers on their dream home, strange things started to occur. Lights and household appliances began to turn on and off, and they heard what sounded like people running across their roof. At night, the couple could hear orchestra music playing and chains rattling. Their sons complained of shadowy figures and odd lights in their room, too.
The entire family began to suffer with burning eyes and throats from untraceable chemical odors. Steve Lee quickly decided someone was playing tricks to spook them from their new home, so he decided to fight back. He installed a video surveillance security system with motion detectors to retaliate. However, the system would sound alarms when no one was around.
There were also sixty-two unexplainable break-ins at the property. The local sheriff’s department opened an investigation in early 1993 but could never find evidence of any crime............unsolved-mysteries.com.

Quote:
The Shag Harbour UFO Incident was the reported impact of an unknown large object into waters near Shag Harbour, a tiny fishing village in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia on October 4, 1967.
The impact was investigated by various civilian (Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canadian Coast Guard) and military (Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force) agencies of the Government of Canada. The RCN conducted at least one underwater search to attempt to locate the remains of any associated objects. The Government of Canada declared that no known aircraft was involved and the source of the impact remains unknown to this day.
It is one of very few cases where government agency documents have formally declared an unidentified flying object was involved. Several military witnesses that were interviewed, including a RCN diver involved in the search, have claimed an alien spacecraft was responsible.[citation needed] It was also claimed by several of the witnesses that units of the United States armed forces were involved in the search. The case was also briefly investigated by the U.S. Condon Committee UFO study, which offered no explanation.

19. The Taos Hum

This one I touched on the other day in this thread but its worth repeating due to its global reach - what are those sounds people keep hearing?

Quote:
The Taos Hum is perhaps the most famous of the “Hum Phenomenon” that is experienced in various locations around the world. In brief, a “hum” appears to be a low frequency sound with a rhythmic pulse to it.
Many of the people that have claimed to hear or suffer from this humming have apparently claimed that it sounds like a “far away diesel engine”. It’s named after the town of Taos in New Mexico where it is claimed that it is quite common to hear it. In fact, it was so common that the good citizens and sufferers banded together in 1993 and petitioned the American Congress to investigate the source of this annoyance.

A car is suddenly engulfed in a strange mist and its shocked driver gets out, wipes the windscreen, hops back in and drives off … seemingly oblivious to the three witnesses watching in astonishment close by.

A family driving to the Barossa Valley passes through a town, just as it must have been way back in the 1800s.

A farmer pulls on a pair of second hand khaki trousers and soon finds himself in the jungle witnessing the death of an Australian soldier at the hands of a Japanese sniper. Someone seems to have thrown a spanner in the works of time and space.

21. The Men in the Lead Masks

Firstly, a big shout-out to ATS member GogoVicMorrow for bringing this one to the table - a worthy addition indeed!

Quote:
In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1966, two strange deaths occurred. Even today the deaths of these two men occurred under what can only be described as unique paranormal circumstances.

The deaths have yet to be explained and it’s unclear whether the men were murdered or the deaths were self-induced. There were several objects found around the men and the case has been called the Lead Masks Case. On August 17th 1966 two electronic technicians, Manoel Pereira da Cruz and Miguel José Viana, told friends and family they were going to buy some supplies for work and buy a car. They were reported to have the money to buy the car already with them. They stopped in a shop to get a bottle of water and a rain coat. The waiter later claimed the two appeared to be in a hurry as one was always checking his watch. The bartender was the last one to see the two men alive.

A young man found the bodies three days later and called the police who began an investigation into the deaths of the men. The police determined the last moments the men were alive and found some items that represented their last moments alive. They were both dressed in suits and they had on waterproof coats. They wore lead eye masks with no holes such as one would wear to protect form radiation. They also found an empty water bottle, a notebook, and two towels. The money they were supposed to be carrying for the purchase of a car wasn’t found.

The notebook caused confusion in the case because in contained these words in Portuguese

“16:30 be at agreed place, 18:30 swallow capsules, after effect protect metals wait for mask signal.”

Suits: this indicates that the men were planning to meet someone, but since it’s not known what their original attire would be this is hard to determine.
The Lead Masks: this told investigators that then men were expecting to encounter some type of radioactivity. There was no radiation detected at the site and its possible their meeting place could have been at some other location.
The Towels and Jackets: the towels suggested they were expecting to encounter moisture and their jackets indicate this as well. UFOs were seen in the area on the 17th and according to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy towels are required for space travel. The guide was published ten years after this even occurred.
The Water Bottle: they were to return this bottle to the bar. They did drink the water but didn’t return the bottle. Notes: These are the biggest part of the mystery as it’s unclear who they were to meet at the arranged place.

The toxicology report turned up nothing on the capsules because the organs were not preserved. It’s not clear if they took the capsules or not. It appears they were waiting for someone to tell them to put on their masks.

22. The Nomoli Skystones.

Mr Klaus Dona continues to amaze me with his findings of artifacts that simply defy modern academia in regards to our ancient past. Here is another example.........

Quote:
At 17000 years, this unusual Nomoli figure is also the oldest. A small metal ball was hidden in a hollow space inside it. An analysis showed that it is made from chrome and steel. However, the metal ball was already in the figure when it was found. How did it get there? And much more important - where did the metal come from? - The blue “Skystones” are another mystery. A legend says: The part of the sky in which the Nomoli lived turned to stone. It splintered and fell to Earth as pieces of rock. Scientists found traces of iridium in the “Skystones”.

Iridium is one of the least abundant elements in the Earth's crust, having an average mass fraction of 0.001 ppm in crustal rock; It is thought that the overall concentration of iridium on Earth is much higher than what is observed in crustal rocks, but because of the density and siderophilic ("iron-loving") character of iridium, it descended below the crust and into the Earth's core when the planet was still molten. Iridium is found in meteorites with an abundance much higher than its average abundance in the Earth's crust. For this reason the unusually high abundance of iridium in the clay layer at the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary gave rise to the Alvarez hypothesis that the impact of a massive extraterrestrial object caused the extinction of dinosaurs and many other species 65 million years ago.

When searching for diamonds in West African Sierra Leone, local people made unexpected finds: They repeatedly came across 40 to 70 cm tall stone sculptures. The origin of these so-called Nomoli is uncertain. Some were discovered at depths of 50 metres. This means that they must be about 17,000 years old. A date which does not conform to today’s archaeological knowledge. Where did the Nomoli come from? Were they left by an alien culture which disappeared long ago?

23. The Naga Fireballs
[Image: iq506bff46.jpg]

Having been to a Full Moon Festival in Thailand about ten years ago, I can personally attest to the authenticity of these balls – as can thousands of others, including numerous photos and vids. Their reality is not in dispute – what they are and what causes them is & scientific analysis leaves you still scratching your head, as always, check out the links and decide for yourself.............

Quote:
For hundreds of years, villagers in Thailand have believed that a serpent in the Mekong River spits out tens of thousands of egg-sized glowing red orbs to pay homage to Buddha at the end of the Buddhist Lent. Scientists aren’t exactly sure why this strange phenomenon happens at the same time every year, and some people say it’s a long-running hoax, but every year people from all over the world gather to watch the Naga fireballs shoot out of the Mekong river and rise hundreds of feet into the sky before disappearing.
Locals deny a possibility of hoax - Naga fireballs often are observed in very secluded places where the putative "organiser" of fireballs has nearly no chances to impress anyone. It is just weird to imagine countless Thai and Laotian people keeping themselves busy by making illuminations in remote lakes and rivers.
In such circumstances the possibility of fraud seems to be quite low - who would manage to organise such illumination without getting caught in the act? Naga fireballs rose from the river during the hostilities between Thailand and Laos: the border was heavily guarded then and it is little likely that somebody would risk his life to organise the fraud.

24. The Dancing plague of 1518

Not all X-Files are scary – some are just plain weird to the point of funny, yet remain unsolved to this very day, like this one...........

Quote:
In July of 1518, Frau Troffea of Strasbourg, France (then part of the Holy Roman Empire) began to dance frantically in the streets. Within a month, 400 people began to do the same, eventually collapsing and dying of heart attack, exhaustion, and stroke.

Doctors at the time were at a loss. Notes from the city council reveal that the cause of the dancing was unknown, only that the victims were not dancing willingly. Then, as suddenly as it began, in August the Dancing Plague of 1518 was over leaving almost 400 dead, a population baffled, and a mystery that has lasted half of a millennium. Some have blamed the dancing plague on mass hysteria, the result of eating contaminated bread, or even religious ecstasy.

Although the plague never reappeared in France a similar case of the frantic dancing cropped up in Madagascar in 1840's. In both cases, the cause was never found.

25. The Hammer of Texas

Made from 96% iron, 2.6% chlorine, and 0.74% sulfur. There are no bubbles in it at all. The quality of which equals or exceeds the quality of any iron found today. No biggie – except it for the nagging point that a team of Archaeologists checked it, and as it turns out, the rock encasing the hammer was dated back more than 140 million years – give or take a few mill. The 2 links below present both sides of the argument. For me this is only one of hundreds of artifacts and foot/hand prints that have shown up in rock or other strange places the world over – How long have we actually been here on this planet?

Quote:
In June 1936 (or 1934 by some accounts), Max Hahn (1897-1989) and his wife Emma were hiking along Red Creek near London, Texas. It was there that they discovered an artifact which seemed completely out of place. What they found was a unique piece of wood protruding from a rock concretion.
When the rock was broken by their son in 1947, it revealed an iron hammer with a wooden handle. it was completely enclosed in limestone. Geologists are certain: The hammer must be of the same age as the rock layer. However, they estimate the age of the rock at 140 million years. No human life existed at that time. Or did it?
Skeptics have their own possible solution: The “hammer from Texas” was lost by a mine worker in the 19th century. But nevertheless it is a mystery: How did the hammer become enclosed in sedimentary rock so quickly?

26. The Aluminium Wedge of Aiud

In 1974, 3 objects were found buried 10 meters deep in sand by a group of workers on the banks of the river Mures, East of Aiud, Romania. Two of the objects were confirmed to be Mastodon bones and the third object is what is known as the “Object of Aiud” or “The Aluminium Wedge of Aiud”.

The wedge was sent to the archeological institute of Cluj-Napoca…..

Quote:
The examination of this object showed it to weigh about 5lbs. There are two holes of different sizes. The object has two arms. Traces of tool marks can be seen on the sides of the object and at its lowest part. It measures approximately 8” x 5” x 3”

Dr. Niederkorn of the institute for the study of metals and non-metallic minerals located in Magurele, Romania, concluded that the object is comprised of a alloy of an extremely complex metal. Twelve different elements combine to form the Aiud Object. It consists of: 89% aluminum, 6.2% copper, 2.84% silicon, 1.81% zinc, 0.41% lead, 0.33% tin, 0.2% zirconium, 0.11% cadmium, 0.0024% nickel, 0.0023% cobalt, 0.0003% bismuth, and trace of galium.

Furthermore, this strange object is covered with a thick layer of aluminum oxide, which lends credence to its antiquity. After the analysis of this aluminum oxide layer, specialists have confirmed that the object is a minimum of 300 to 400 years old.

Aluminium was first discovered in 1808 and mass produced in 1885 and requires a temperature of 1000 Degrees to be manufactured.

Simply put, it is an object out of place. Adding to the intrigue, the wedge being found next to Mastodon Bones could date it as far back as 11,000 years old. It is NOT on public display and remains in the possession of an unknown collector.

27. Maria Talarico Possessed by the Dead.

A case of spiritual possession that led to the formal legal judgement of murder.

On February 13th, 1936, the body of 19-year-old Giuseppe “Pepe” Veraldi was found under the Morandi bridge in Catanzaro, Italy. Significant body and head trauma, coupled with a lack of any evidence of foul play lead authorities to conclude that he committed suicide by jumping from the bridge.

Now, what you have just read, ladies and gentlemen, could NOT be further from the truth, get ready for goosebumps………….

Quote:
One morning in January of 1939, Maria Talarico, a teenaged girl of the city, was walking across the same bridge, as she had done many times before. About halfway across she suddenly stopped, walked over to the side from which Pepe had allegedly jumped, and mysteriously fainted. Several people were nearby and promptly arranged for Maria to be carted home.

Once in her own home, she awakened and initially seemed to be herself until she spoke. Instead of her usual voice, she spoke in a rasping male voice and told those present that she was Pepe Veraldi, and demanded to speak to his mother. After the shock had worn off somewhat, one of the neighbors ran off to fetch Mrs. Veraldi. During the wait, “Pepe” asked for wine and cigarettes and playing cards — proposing that he and some of the men have a game until his mother arrived. Needless to say, this was not in any way similar to Maria’s normal behavior.

Eventually Pepe’s mother showed up and he quickly told her (via Maria) that he had been murdered but did not name the culprit(s). As this information began to sink in with those gathered at the Talarico home, Maria quickly got up and ran outside to the exact place under the bridge where Pepe’s corpse had fallen. Those from Maria’s household followed her, and when Pepe’s mother arrived she ordered her son’s spirit to leave Maria. Apparently it did, as Maria instantly “woke up” but remembered nothing of the past since she had initially fainted on the bridge.
Most likely Pepe’s mother went to the police with this information, but without names, there was nothing they could do. And they might have found the whole story too difficult to believe.

The story would have ended there had it not been for a letter Pepe’s mother received nine years after Maria’s apparent possession. The letter was from one of Pepe’s former friends who was living in Argentina. He confessed to killing Pepe in an argument over a woman. Three other men helped him commit the crime, he said, and he named them — something Pepe’s ghost had not done.

Pepe’s mother now had something concrete to prove that her son had not killed himself. She took the letter to the police. One of the accomplices had died, but the other two were investigated, arrested, tried, convicted, and jailed.

The convictions seemed to have brought the episode to a close. It is presumed that Pepe was then able to rest in peace, as he never made any further “appearances” — and Maria is not known to have had any further encounters with supernatural entities.

28. The Kaikoura Lights.

This would have to be one of my favourite UFO cases. Full of witnesses it is truly a remarkable case of something unidentified.

There are many many references to this case online and I am sure that many here are familiar with the case, but for those of you who are not, below is a brief outline of events. If you are interested, there is enough within this case to keep you going for hours or days.

Approximately 3 months after the disappearance of Fredrick Valentich in the Bass Strait (body of water separating Victoria from Tasmania in Australia), the crew of a cargo plane witnesses strange lights over the skies of Kaikoura New Zealand which appeared to track the aircraft for several minutes before disappearing and reappearing in another part of the sky. The crew said that the light cluster ranged in dimensions from the size of a house to small but blindingly bright. This was on 21st December 1978.

The lights were also observed from the ground by the Royal New Zealand Air Force and were also filmed by a TV crew.

Quote:
Investigations by the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the police and Ministry of Defence claimed that what had been seen, filmed and tracked on radar were most likely squid boats in the waters off the coast of New Zealand. Other ridiculous explanations included car headlights and the lights of nearby towns reflecting off clouds.

Dr Bruce Maccabee, an optical physicist and former Research Physicist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, however, disagreed. He studied the footage filmed by the Australian news crew and found it to be authentic. In a paper published in Applied Optics, Dr Maccabee debunked the flying squid boat theory and concluded that the footage was genuine.

Quote:
As a footnote, the official investigations of the Kaikoura Lights were declared “Top Secret” at the time and held in the National Archives in Wellington

29. MacKenzie Poltergeist of GreyFriars Kirkyard

This place is just plain evil. Sick, twisted unfathomable history surrounds the Black Mausoleum of Edinburgh's Greyfriars Kirkyard in Scotland. I am only going to give you a very brief outline, PLEASE, hit the link to read it in it's entirety. I am really hoping some of our Scottish members can weigh in and give their opinions and I am secretly hoping some have taken the ghost tour, which I might add, is eeriely similiar to the Ghost tour in Port Arthur, Tasmania (which I have done - twice) and its consequential effect of those brave enough to partake in same. There is even a historical link between these to places on Earth, as you will see when reading.

I have goosebumps just writing this, wait until you read this ex-text below, Oh boy its a CREEPFEST.

Anyway, this sicko who was a 17th century judge and Lord Advocate, by the name of Sir George MacKenzie, otherwise known to the Scots as “Bluidy MacKenzie” is recorded to have been responsible for 18,000 deaths due to his unrelenting faith in God and this escapade is actually known as "The Killing Time".

Many bodies (alive and dead) were thrown into this Greyfriars Kirkyard and completely sealed and entombed for 300 years until one day a homeless man in 1998, seeking shelter stumbled into the tomb and literally fell into the rotting semi-decomposed carcasses.

That synopsis simply doesn't do the lead-up any justice, but I'm gonna leave it at that, read on brave people, IF you dare.........

Soon, it all became too much for Edinburgh City Council. They locked the Black Mausoleum’s door and declared the location to be out of bounds to all but those with express permission to enter. That was until local author Jan-Andrew Henderson asked the council for permission to bring controlled tours to the mausoleum. The council acceded and now The City of the Dead Tour enjoys almost exclusive access to the menacing site, running regular visits. Since then, it seems that the paranormal activity has escalated alarmingly.

Phenomena at the Black Mausoleum stands out against that experienced at many other purportedly haunted locations in that it has been startlingly frequent in occurrence, often severe and very well-documented. Since 1998 there have been over 450 attacks and that’s just the reported incidents, who knows how high the number actually is? Amongst the 450, some 180 people have lost consciousness, inexplicable fires have broken out, weird cold spots abound and an unusually high number of dead wildlife has been found in the vault’s immediate vicinity.

People have had their fingers broken, hair pulled and felt as though something has punched or kicked them. Unexplained bruises, scratches and burns, skin gouges, nausea and numbness have all been frequently reported. Cameras and other electrical equipment malfunction in the area of the Mausoleum.

Intriguingly, the physical signs of attack often go unnoticed until people get home and relax or return to their hotels for the night. Only then do the unexplained injuries manifest. Some of the scratches and burns disappear as quickly as they emerge while others may last for months. Some though, scar for life. Furthermore, many of the frightening experiences don’t end when the tour finishes. People have reported that some of the phenomena listed above actually follows them home, with strange occurrences such as light bulbs blowing and electrical appliances switching on and off by themselves. One man, an ex-police officer who prefers to remain anonymous described his experience:

“After the tour I decided to go back to our hotel room. I was glancing at ‘The Ghost tha

I remember looking forward to the next installment of that series. I think that may be the whole series in one?
Excellent work.

The Russian holes is an interesting one, very weird.

I read somewhere that the Russian authorities are opening up a new Dyatlov Pass investigation. I doubt they will publish the truth of what happened, if they find out anything.

Right, I don't foresee the truth of their Murders ever being told.
