The Case of The Missing Gnomes.
#1
All I know is that Gordi has taken a break and went to enjoy a small island that he frequents regularly...
that's what we've been told.

The big Scotsman has also mentioned that he carves wooden mushrooms and some here may be aware
that mushrooms are often sat on by gnomes.
Mythology tells us so.

There are Quantum Physicists who have learned that attraction is one of the strongest forces in our universe
right down to the atomic level and beyond.
Science tells us so.

Now we arrive at a quandry, a number of gnome-less mushrooms and this article below.
So what would Sherlock Downey Jr. think?

Tayside and Central Scotland.

Quote:Police appeal over 37 stolen garden gnomes.

'An elderly woman has been left "gnome alone" after thieves made off with 37 of the ornaments from her
front garden in Angus. Police said the gnomes, described as "small" and "the usual gardening type", were
snatched from her home in Arbroath last month.

They disappeared over the course of a week between 23 and 30 April.
Officers said the owner was left upset by her loss and they urged suspected pranksters to return them.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Although they are of little monetary value, their owner is an elderly lady
who is understandably upset at being the victim of this theft.
"If someone has taken them as a prank or because they think it is funny, we can assure them that it is not."...'

Those types of garden ornaments sell for a nice price here.  Maybe a thief saw an opportunity to make a few bucks.  I doubt if they stole them as a prank.

I hope she gets them back.

I'm using Google-Earth -as we speak, to see if there are camps hidden in the wilds of Scotland.
Gnome Labour-Camps were outlawed here after fairies and a worrying amount of Elves protested
in London about them being discriminatory.

A few politicians were accused of being 'campist' and it was only after some drug-selling kids threatened
the vertically-challenged Fae-folk with knives, did they disperse.

I fear for the gnomes and those wooden mushrooms out there.

I confess... I do have a history that includes Gnomes....

BUT!! It was almost the reverse of Gnome-napping.

When my next door naighbours were away on holiday I placed several gnomes in their shrubberies (partially hidden) and added a "SQUATTERS RIGHTS" sign for them to hold up!
I then topped off the prank by posting a local newspaper (which I had... "accidentally" edited...) through their letterbox.
The paper had a front page article featuring the plight of the Homeless Gnomes and how they had found an "abandoned" property, moved in and declared Squatters Rights!

I am delighted to report that the prank worked incredibly well. (They often had the local paper delivered and were laughing about the front-page Gnome story until they recognised their own shrubbery in the main photo!!! It was only after this that they looked outside and discovered the Gnomes!!!

They were so taken with them that they decided to let them stay.
Their next surprise was the following Christmas, when I painted them up to look like Santa & his little helpers (without telling my neighbours!!!!)
It took a couple of days for them to notice, but the belly laughing, when it arrived, was a wondrous thing to behold!

True Story that.

PS - It has been known for Scottish Gnome-Nappers to take other peoples Gnomes on holiday with them, then to send the real owner photos of the Gnomes from various exotic locations!!!!!  (I haven't done that!!!! (Yet!))

I remember reading many years ago of a "free gnomes" movement that rescued Gnomes from gardens and set them free in forests. Sad but I dont think this is the case, I think the Gnomes know something we dont and have gone into hiding till its time for them to strike back and take over.
I for one welcome our new Gnome masters

I've seen that before!
In one case, the Gnome was seen in many exotic locations and the post-card often offered
the Gnome's opinion of the place he was at. I can't imagine the focus one must have to pull
off such a prank!

There were sultry island locations with a backdrop of a calm sea and palm trees, eye-aching
ski resorts with scenes like the Swiss Alps behind the grinning Gnome and a jaunty stars-and
-stripes hat on the figure when it visited New York.

Of course, that was during the days before the Customs ramp-up.

I agree WF, let's hope the little folk clear out the current way we perceive each other!
