A friend of mine visited Cape Town a few years ago and rode in a bullet-hole-ridden taxi. The reason -he was told,
was that there was an ongoing Taxi War and this was the cause.

Again from Wikipedia:
Quote:'...The term taxi war is usually used to refer to the turf wars fought between taxi associations and individual minibus
taxi drivers in South Africa from the late 1980s onwards. These taxi wars are still raging to the present day.

The multi-billion Rand minibus taxi industry carries over 60% of South Africa's commuters.
Generally speaking, these commuters are all of the lower economic class. Wealthy individuals drive their own cars
for safety and convenience.

The industry is almost entirely made up of 16-seater commuter Toyota HiAce buses, which are sometimes unsafe
or not roadworthy. Minibus taxi drivers are well known for their disregard for the road rules and their proclivity for
dangerously overloading their vehicles with passengers.

Due to an effectively unregulated market and the fierceness of competition for passengers and lucrative routes,
taxi operators band together to form local and national associations. These associations soon exhibited mafia-like
tactics, including the hiring of hit-men and all-out gang warfare.
hese associations also engaged in anti-competitive price fixing...'

What I'm getting at is that we all have problems in our countries, but the lack of long-term solution logistics
in certain countries... such as modern-day slavery, totally-socialist governance, strict religious doctrine and

Libya has been a shithole for millennia - ever since the Carthaginians lost the Punic Wars. The Romans quickly turned the place into a permanent shithole, and there is little chance it will ever be anything else... however, Libya DOES seem to have stricken upon a novel idea to solve the illegal immigration problem and turn it to profit (which, I think, many nations might benefit from taking a look at - maybe they could thus stem the tide of illegal aliens or those euphemistically referred to as "undocumented workers"... a bill of sale is a document, and so might solve that problem), so there may be hope! The invasion of the Muslim hordes as they swept across North Africa did nothing at all to improve the shithole-ness of Libya. If anything, the Muslims drove Libya even further into shithole-ery, which is a thing I'm sure the Romans never even dreamed to be possible.

What amazes me is the number of people running from one shithole to another shithole in search of relief - how bad must the initial shithole be for THAT to happen?

South Africa used to be a lovely place, and then Nelson Mandela turned it into a shithole in just a few years. Who in the devil votes a convict into Presidential office, anyhow? They got what they had coming to them. Gross stupidity has it's own rewards, apparently.

My first wife went to South Africa on a church mission to aid orphans. She called and asked advice on traveling to South Africa of me, and my first advice was "don't", which just didn't fly well. I then told her to get a WHO Health Card, and make sure all her vaccinations and shots were up to date, especially for the obscure crap that will kill you dead before you even know it exists. Second bit of advice was "pack duct tape". When she asked "what for?" I told her to tape her passport to her body, directly to skin, as soon as she hit the ground and got through customs... and NOT to tape it to her inner thigh, which is the first place the average South African male of those times (mid-1990's) was going to check out after he knocked her to the ground, on his way to ""his own little patch of the Promised Land". I don't know how much of my advice she took, or how she fared beyond the fact that she somehow survived it. I've not spoken to her since that conversation, but I know she made it back.

Rhodesia was a fine place too, once upon a time. Then Robert Mugabe turned IT into a shithole, going so far as to rename it with a moniker no self-respecting school kid can even pronounce. It got BAD. I have a Zimbabwean 50 cent piece, one of the first minted in that nation after Mugabe took over (minted in 1980), which has a face value of ONE FIFTY-BILLIONTH the value of the metals it contains, at 50 c. Fifty Zimbabwean cents got to be worth such a tiny amount that it's nominal value could be measured in molecules of bi-metal.

Rhodesia had been a net producer and exporter of food, and when Mugabe took over, the government confiscated farms from the white settlers as "reparations" and gave them to natives, who promptly sat on their asses with rifles and simply guarded their newfound "wealth"... and never worked the farms at all. Needless to say, what could have continued as a thriving economy went to hell in a hand-basket in no time flat.

My point here is that not all shitholes have ALWAYS been shitholes, but they can go south in a hell of a hurry under piss poor management.

A dull knife? You're way to kind hearted! I'm thinking more along the lines of a rusty sardine can lid... and getting the cutter pretty drunk first, so that their hand shakes a lot... hanging by their feet is pretty kind, too, unless you have in mind to make a cut just above their heel bone and in front of their achille's tendon that you could run a rope through to hang them by...

and the skinning thing.... have you considered using a belt sander so that it takes a while?

I've been told I'm not one to piss off, and these sorts of people, well, they kind of piss me off.

ETA: It never fails to amaze me how these folks in foreign countries, whose native language is NOT English, always manage to make their protest signs in English. Kinda makes one wonder just who the intended consumptive audience is. If they wanted action out of their own government, wouldn't it make more sense to make the signs in their native language?

A less 'liberal' reader of the article may suggest that with such disregard for the assumed elected authority
and policing practices, the label 'sh*thole' could be applied?!

It is serious, the way some cultural-structures seem to believe they can take the law into their own hands to
quench a hatred and even though the crime is horrendous -and seems common in that country -may I add,
the rights of a suspect are just as important.

But this sort of behavior goes against the mainstream narrative and the crowd didn't fit the preferred profile,
so I'll be surprised if it shows up on any major US media site.

...And not to be outdone by our culture-loving Sumatran friends, the south east African nation of Malawi
decided that enough was enough when dealing with we all struggle with, blood sucking vampires.

Of course, ignorant folk like President Trump fail to appreciate the areas of the world that bask in diversity
and cultural ambitions. They snicker at the day-to-day tasks we all have to do in our modern 'non-shit-hole'
countries. From their lofty self-styled towers, they mock what all of us believe and flounder at what we all
agree in this world is mature, civilised justice.

Quote:Violence erupts in Malawi due to fears blood sucking vampires are on the loose.

'A suspected coven of voracious vampires is causing chaos in an African country with two people arrested
for threatening to suck people’s blood.

Violent protests against the suspected vampires have led to 140 arrests and nine deaths in the south east
African nation of Malawi.

The uprising began on 16 September when three men, who were suspected of being blood suckers,
were killed by a mob. A further two men were killed on Thursday in Malawi’s second city of Blantyre.
One was stoned to death, the other set on fire, reports the BBC.

A Reuters reporter said the man who was set alight was epileptic and was killed while walking home from
a nearby hospital.

The attacks suspected vampires has got so bad, town administrators and the UN aid have reportedly pulled
staff out of areas where the violence has been the greatest. Local website Malawi 24 has reported that the
attacks are based on magic, Satanism, superstition and ignorance.

Victims have been suspected of being vampires simply because they have metal in their homes.
The website said Malawian MP had said blood sucking is real and people were dying due to it.

“People are seeing gold pipes in their homes and get weak,” the MP said, an apparent reference to folklore
that certain kinds of metals can be a vampire’s weakness.

The vampire craze isn’t new and has bubbled under the surface in some parts of the country for years.
The BBC reported that some villagers believe blood sucking is a ritual that originates in neighbouring
Mozambique and is said to make people rich.

Vampire fears have affected southern rural, areas of Malawi.

Belief in witchcraft is widespread in parts of Malawi.

Educational standards are also low in rural areas meaning some villagers who spot others with technology
they’ve never seen before, like a battery and cables to jump start a car, suspect they could be used in vampiric
rituals.

Dr Chioza Bandawe, a clinical psychologist at the University of Malawi said these communities believe in
“mysterious magical explanations for things” and “people will tend to attribute their difficulty on what they
call blood suckers.”

Those who fear being victims worry about “the hope being sucked out of them,” he said.
James Kaledzera, Malawi’s national police spokesman, said police patrols had been stepped up in areas
affected and they would “arrest anybody who is deemed to have taken part in the killings”.

A curfew has also been imposed in some southern parts of the nation...'

The curfew only runs through daylight hours, so...

'A 16-year-old girl has been raped and burned to death in India in the latest case of sexual violence to hit the country.
The teenager was abducted from her home in Jharkhand state on Thursday and raped in a forest while her family was
away at a wedding, police said.

The victim's family reported the attack to village council leaders who ordered two accused men to do 100 sit-ups and
pay a fine of 50,000 rupees (£552) ($747.16).
Police said the punishment enraged the men, who beat the girl's parents before setting her on fire.

"The two accused thrashed the parents and rushed to the house where they set the girl ablaze with the help of their
accomplices," a police spokesman said.
Fourteen men have been arrested in connection with the incident but the main suspect is still on the run, the spokesman
added.

Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das said he was shocked by the "gruesome incident" and called for stringent action
against the culprits. India has been shaken by a series of sexual assaults since 2012, when a student was gang-raped
and murdered on a New Delhi bus.

Protests have been held across the country since horrific details emerged last month about an eight-year-old girl being
gang-raped and murdered in the state of Jammu and Kashmir...'

Can you guess which Shit Hole 3rd. World Country this happened in?
Quote:Indian police announced Saturday 14 arrests in the horrific murder of a teen girl who was set on fire after her parents complained to village elders that she had been raped—the latest outrage in a string sexual attacks against women in India despite new tougher laws.

The 16-year-old girl from Chatra, a village in eastern Jharkhand state, was attending a wedding ceremony Thursday when she was abducted and then raped, according to reports.

She told her parents who complained to village council leaders. They next day they imposed a $750 fine on each of her alleged attackers.

The BBC reported that the accused were also ordered to do 100 sit-ups.

The BBC reported that they were so enraged they beat the girl’s parents and then burned her to death. They found her alone at home on Friday, the Associated Press reported.

Suspect. (Face covered to spare his feelings)

'A second Indian girl from the eastern state of Jharkand is fighting for her life after being raped and set on fire, police have said.
The attack follows another against a 16-year-old who was killed in a similar manner in the same area.

A man has been arrested in connection with the second attack, on a 17-year-old who was doused in kerosene and set alight.
It is the latest in a series of brutally violent sexual assaults which have caused outcry across the country.

The latest victim was attacked on Friday, the same day that the 16-year-old was abducted from her home and murdered in
retaliation for speaking out about her rape.

"The [17-year-old] girl has suffered 70% first-degree burns.
There is a chance that she will survive," Shailendra Barnwal, police superintendent of Pakur district, told the AFP news agency.
Mr Barnwal said the victim had been moved to specialist facilities in a private hospital for "proper treatment and recovery".
He said police have arrested a 19-year-old in connection with the attack.

The man, who was photographed with his face covered and not named, lives in the same neighbourhood as the victim, police said.
There has been intense attention on attitudes towards rape in India following the gang-rape and murder of a student on a New Delhi
bus in 2012.

rotests have been held across the country since horrific details emerged last month about an eight-year-old girl being gang-raped
and murdered in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Eight Hindus have been accused over the Muslim girl's abduction, repeated rape
and murder, although local Hindu activists have staged protests and accused the police inquiry of bias.

Some 40,000 rape cases were reported in India in 2016, with many more believed to have gone unreported because of stigma
attached to sex crimes in the country.

The Indian government has passed a series of laws increasing punishment for rape of an adult to 20 years in prison and introducing
the death penalty for anyone found guilty of raping girls aged under 12...'

Sad but what we know as common decency does not exist for them and many others. Think of the muslim so called honor killings where a father and sons kill a daughter/sister because they believe they have done something that offends them.
