videos of children as early as 1990 and as recent as last year.
He was a reporter and presenter on Ffeil, a Welsh language news show for young people, and Wales Today.
Thomas, who offended in north Wales, Shropshire, London, and Romania, appeared at Mold Crown Court and
will be sentenced there on August 18 having been granted bail until then.
Judge Niclas Parry warned a "significant custodial sentence" was inevitable despite his early plea, North Wales
Live reported.

North Wales Police DC Lynne Willsher said: "Ben Thomas' offending involved the serious sexual abuse of vulnerable
young children by a religious leader. "It is an awful breach of the trust placed in him by the victims and their families,

"Today in court, Ben Thomas has admitted perpetrating 40 sexual offences.
"As a result of this, his victims have been spared the harrowing ordeal of a lengthy trial.
"North Wales Police are very grateful for the strength and courage shown by all victims and their families; this has
greatly assisted our investigation to ensure justice has been done today.
"I am also grateful to the Evangelical Church and their safeguarding team for their assistance during the investigation."
Thomas left the BBC in 2005 to preach on the streets of London, before returning to Wales in 2008 as pastor of the
Criccieth Family Church in Gwynedd. He left his post last year.
A Criccieth Family Church spokesperson said: "We are now devastated by the revelation of such sin and grieve over
the pain caused to the innocent victims, the betrayal and deception.
"Foremost in our prayers now are the victims and their families."...'

Romania Extradites Human Trafficking Kingpin to US

Romania’s Minister of the Interior, Marcel Vela, on Friday announced the arrest and extradition to the US of an alleged human trafficking kingpin wanted by the US for eight immigration-related charges.
The accused “is at the top of a network of international human trafficking [gangs operating] in Romania, Mexico and the US,” said Vela from Bucharest airport, minutes before the plane that would escort the man to justice took off.
Romanian media named the alleged criminal as a well-known Craiova underworld figure, Cristinel Luigi Popescu, known as “Luis”. He was previously wanted by Romanian justice for his role in organising the illegal entry to Canada and the US via Mexico of hundreds of Romanian Roma people.
His extradition was approved by a court in Craiova, southwest Romania. Another Romanian accused of several cybercrimes in America has also been sent to the US to face justice.
The US ambassador to Romania, Adrian Zuckerman, was present at Otopeni airport and commended his Romanian counterparts for the success of the operation.
Zuckerman referenced the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons Report for 2019, released last June, which noted Romania’s lack of progress in fighting human trafficking.
“The report recognised that the human trafficking problem in Romania was due to the backsliding in the rule of law by the prior government,” the ambassador said on Friday.
He recalled having recently urged the Romanian parliament “to act and address the issue”, and deemed it “very disappointing that PSD leader [Marcel] Ciolacu had responded by saying that current Romanian laws on human trafficking and the rule of law are sufficient.”
“They are not,” Zuckerman concluded, in his rebuttal of the opposition leader’s comments.
Zuckerman praised the current National Liberal Party government for its “remarkable” efforts “to enforce the rule of law, stop human trafficking and stop organised crime”.
A year ago, the Romanian newspaper Libertatea reported that the US authorities had intercepted more than 4,000 Romanians who tried to enter the US illegally from Mexico since 2014. They were mostly poor Roma and had previously committed to pay traffickers huge sums of money, which drew them into crime.

Prosecutors now say Rose sexually assaulted five children. Of the new victims, one was allegedly abused within the last two years, while Rose allegedly abused the other three in the 1990s.

"There is nothing more horrible and depraved than sexually abusing a child, and in this case it is made even more unfathomable that the defendant is a former member of law enforcement," Rollins said. "He actually swore an oath to protect victims from harm, instead he was preying on and harming our most vulnerable and innocent, young children."
Judge Kathleen Coffey raised Rose's bail from $250,000 to $270,000, prosecutors said. She kept in place an order that Rose must wear a GPS monitor, surrender his passport, surrender any firearms as well as his license to carry, have no unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16 and stay away from and have no contact with the victims.
When Rose was arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on the first charges, the 66-year-old hid his face.

Justice Department Awards Nearly $101 Million to Combat Human Trafficking
The Department of Justice today announced it has awarded nearly $101 million, through the department’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) in funding to combat human trafficking and provide vital services to trafficking victims throughout the United States.
“The scourge of human trafficking is the modern-day equivalent of slavery, brutally depriving victims of basic human rights and essential physical needs as it erodes their sense of dignity and self-worth,” said Attorney General William P. Barr. “The Department of Justice is relentless in its fight against the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. Working with state and local law enforcement and community victim service providers, we will continue to bring these criminals to justice and deliver critical aid to survivors.”
The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) awarded over $97.4 million to state, local and tribal jurisdictions, service providers and task forces all over the country, while OJP’s National Institute of Justice awarded the remaining $3.5 million to support research and evaluation on human trafficking.
“Human trafficking is a massive global enterprise with roots in cities and communities here in America and across the world,” said OJP Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Katharine T. Sullivan. “The Office of Justice Programs is using all the resources at its disposal to help our state, local and tribal partners uncover and eradicate trafficking operations and help victims open the door to a new life.”

He was also fined £200 and ordered to pay £2,500 to the victim after being found guilty of a charge of raping a child under 13, as well as being put on the Sexual Offenders’ Register for five years.
But the girl’s mother is devastated Haycock was not handed a jail term for the incident.
She said: “I ran out of the court and slammed the door behind me, as I walked out of the court I just
shouted ‘it’s a f***ing joke’. I see no justice for my daughter in this.
“We’ve appealed to the High Court in London. This has ripped our lives apart.
“We’ve had to have counselling, it’s ruined our lives. It separated me and my partner because we both
didn’t know how to deal with it so we took it out on each other.”
The heartbroken mother, however, said she has found consolation in the courage of her daughter, who
testified at the trial. She added: “She’s been incredibly brave, she gave evidence at the trial and everything.
I’m immensely proud of her. She’s one of the bravest little girls I’ve ever met.
“She will get over this but she will never forget it. It will always be there but she’s not the sort that is going to
let it ruin her life. She still smiles every day and gets on with life. “She does wet the bed but we’re going through
counselling to try to sort that out. She has difficulties forming relationships with strange men in her life, obviously.
“We told her that he’d got to pay her some money, because he’s got to pay her £2,500 compensation, and she
turned around and said she wants to give it to the poor. “The police were amazing with us and so were Witness
Support. They were very supportive and patient and they handled everything with dignity.”...'
