California Drinking Water Tax
#1
Quote:First-ever water tax proposed to tackle unsafe drinking water in California

Let me tell you what the tax is, it's .95 cents per month for each household that gets a water bill and each business.
Now who in their right minds believe this tax will be for cleaning the water? You'd have to be VERY Stupid to believe that.

Here let me give you an idea of what the Legislator of California have given themselves Each Month.
As of 2016 it is said there were 12,577,498. homes in California, ok, now do the math, 12,577,498. by .95 cents = $11,948, 620.25 per. month and that doesn't include all the Business's in California that are to be taxed also.
By the why, 12,577,498. is just a figure of the Single Family Homes, not all the Apartments and RV parks and so on.

Quote:SACRAMENTO >> For the first time Californians would pay a tax on drinking water, 95 cents per month, under legislation to fix hundreds of public water systems with unsafe tap water — a problem that’s most pervasive in rural areas with agricultural runoff.

Senate Bill 623, backed by a strange-bedfellows coalition of the agricultural lobby and environmental groups but opposed by water districts, would generate $2 billion over the next 15 years to clean up contaminated groundwater and improve faulty water systems and wells.

“My message is short and direct: We are not Flint, Michigan,” co-author Sen. Robert Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, said at a Wednesday rally outside the Capitol, where demonstrators held signs reading “Clean water is not a luxury” and “Water is a human right.”

I'm quite sure the many movie stars will pay theirs and promise to pay the tax of
those who are less fortunate. Everyone's feelings will be okay. Then roll the credits.

Then there'll be a rally with colourful banners and lots of hurrahs.
The Mexican employees of Starbucks will serve them coffee and when the sun goes
down, they will tip a glass of bubbly beside the pool and know they helped the poor.

Meanwhile, the un-maintained water-pipes will continue to deliver sh*tty water and
no one will ponder the idea that this tax is being introduced to solve a public service
that's been falling to bits for years.

If the arsenic had been in the water for years, surely the same people demanding the
tax knew of it and deemed it okay? I mean, I'm surprised the movie stars haven't made
a stink about their water being contaminated... oh wait, it doesn't work like that.
Does it?

That's a terrible thing to say! They seem so nice on the movie screen and sometimes,
they involve themselves in commercials to take the p*ss out of the candidate they didn't
vote for.
(My sarcasm pill is wearing off!)

But the impression I get is that they care for their fellow-Californians, the pool-boy, the guy
who polishes their cars and the nice lady in the maid's outfit who brings them fresh orange
juice and chocolate when they go cold-turkey.

I thought they were all comrades together...? Polluted water for all.

Oh don't feel too sorry for these guys, Mystic... over here in the UK, we had taxes that were just as stupid!

Quote:The Window Tax:
The window tax was a property tax based on the number of windows in a house. It was a significant social,
cultural, and architectural force in England, France, Ireland and Scotland during the 18th and 19th centuries.

To avoid the tax some houses from the period can be seen to have bricked-up window-spaces (ready to be
glazed or reglazed at a later date). In England and Wales it was introduced in 1696 and was repealed in
1851, 156 years after first being introduced.

France (established 1798, repealed 1926) and Scotland both had window taxes for similar reasons.

Quote:The Brick Tax:
The brick tax was a property tax introduced in Great Britain in 1784, during the reign of King George III, to help
pay for the wars in the American Colonies.

Bricks were initially taxed at 4s per thousand. To mitigate the effect of the tax, manufacturers began to increase
the size of their bricks, up to a maximum of 11 inches × 5 inches ×  3 1⁄2 inches (280 mm × 125 mm × 80 mm).

In response, the government introduced a maximum volume for a brick, at 150 cubic inches (2,500 cm3).
The level of taxation was increased in 1794, 1797, and 1805, peaking at 5s 10d per thousand bricks.

Quote:The Wallpaper Tax:
The wallpaper tax was a property tax introduced in Great Britain in 1712, during the reign of Queen Anne.
Patterned, printed, or painted wallpaper was initially taxed at 1d per square yard, rising to 1shilling (equivalent
to $4.22 as of 2015),] by 1809.

The tax was bypassed by purchasing untaxed plain paper and having it hand stenciled.
The tax was abolished in 1836.

Quote:The Poll Tax:
The Poll Tax, was a system of taxation introduced in replacement of domestic rates in Scotland from 1989,
prior to its introduction in England and Wales from 1990.

('Rates' were used to finance municipal services such as refuse collection, road-cleaning, schools, street
lighting and generally societal up-keep. The rate a household paid was determined on the value of the property
of that household.)

Water Rates are seperate.

The introduced Poll Tax provided for a single flat-rate per-capita tax on every adult, at a rate set by the local
authority. The charge was replaced by Council Tax in 1993, two years after its abolition was announced.

(We had riots and imprisonments over this one!)

As of this writing I personally pay around $1,677.65 per annum and the services -just like in many towns
and cities around the UK, have dwindled.

(No kidding, this one was real!)
Quote:The Hat Tax:
The hat tax was a tax levied by the British Government from 1784 to 1811 on men's hats.
The tax was introduced during the first ministry of Pitt the Younger and was designed to be a simple way of
raising revenue for the government in a rough accordance with each person's relative wealth.

It was supposed that the rich would have a large number of expensive hats, whereas the poor might have
one cheap hat or none at all.
The hat tax required hat retailers to buy a licence and to display the sign Dealer in Hats by Retail.

All part of the dumbing-down process, Ma'am... it's to do with being a subject of the Crown and
not citizens of the country. A distinction that not many people here realise.

In the past, Kings and Queens needed taxes for their baubles and swan pies, but these days,
Governments need the monies for their false promises and second homes.

It's something that's always fascinated me, the fact that nothing really ever changes and yet,
the young always believe it's happening for the first time.
Stupid is as...

California is Not Done Being Stupid!!  smalltappingfoot
Quote:Gender 'X' could soon be an option on California state IDs
OK, so are they going to open a Gender "X" Prison?
Quote:California could become the U.S. state with the most fluid definition of gender on its official state IDs if a bill making its way through the legislature becomes law.

The California Senate has already passed SB179, which would introduce a third gender option for state identification. Currently, driver’s licenses and other forms of official identification only contain options for male or female. The bill would allow a third option, which would likely be ‘X,’ according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The bill allowing people to identify as “nonbinary” will be considered in the California Assembly. It would also make it easier for transgender people to make sure legal state documents appropriately reflect their gender.

“It’s liberating to be able to say, ‘Yes, this is who I am,’ and, ‘Yes, my state documentation matches that,’” Dee Shull, who identifies as gender fluids, told the San Francisco Chronicle.

According to the Transgender Law Center, California law currently allows people to change their gender marker on birth certificates without having had gender reassignment surgery.

California has got to go their own way and we Shouldn't Stop them!

No, in California, Their Prisons are not for Criminals,,,,,, Just read the below Article.
Quote:Prison for the wrong pronoun?
minusculewtf
Quote:Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson took on a Democratic strategist who supports a California bill that would sentence elder care workers to jail time for addressing transgender residents by the wrong pronoun.

Carlson debated Robin Biro, who supports the bill that was authored by Democratic state Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco. He challenged Biro right out of the gate, starting the interview by saying the bill “doesn’t sound very American” because it could send people to jail for saying something others don’t want to hear.

“You can be put in jail for saying what you think is true,” Carlson said. “This bill criminalizes free speech.”

Biro repeatedly skirted around the direct issue of potential imprisonment of employees for the use of a different pronoun than a patient prefers, and instead tried to emphasize other aspects of the bill, such as its prohibition for care providers to deny treatment to someone based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

When he finally addressed the free speech issues with the bill, he called the intentional misuse of pronouns toward transgender people “abuse” and compared it to former first lady Michelle Obama being called a man.

Carlson asked if the people who referred to Mrs. Obama as a man should go to jail, however, and Biro admitted that they should not. Biro also could not provide an answer to Carlson’s repeated direct question of how many instances of pronoun misuse would warrant arrest.

What does the bill say?

Senate Bill 219
would enact what is called the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Resident’s Bill of Rights. Here is the specific part of the bill Carlson took issue with:

“…would make it unlawful, except as specified, for any long-term care facility to take specified actions wholly or partially on the basis of a person’s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status, including, among others, willfully and repeatedly failing to use a resident’s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns”

The bill also extends protections to LGBT individuals by preventing care providers from “denying admission to a long-term care facility, transferring or refusing to transfer a resident within a facility or to another facility, or discharging or evicting a resident from a facility.”
Quote:Perspective

It doesn’t appear that Carlson, or most decent people, have any problem with LGBT residents of elder care facilities being protected from eviction or refusal of treatment, but it is a slippery slope when it becomes legal, even in very specified situations, to imprison a citizen for something they have said, regardless of how abusive it is perceived to be.

Not done with the NUTS from California Yet.
Quote:The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to replace Columbus Day on the city calendar with a day to commemorate indigenous people.

The second Monday in October, which officially became a federal holiday in 1937, will now be a day for “indigenous, aboriginal and native people” in Los Angeles – overruling the objections of Italian-American groups who wanted to keep Columbus Day, the Los Angeles Times reported. The important news? Whatever you call the day, city employees will get a paid holiday.

On Thursday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson,” Doc Thompson and Kal Elsebai debated whether or not Christopher Columbus deserves to be commemorated as well as how you can properly celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day.

Doc’s tongue-in-cheek theory was that Columbus didn’t do anything that significant since people would have discovered the North American continent sooner or later.
He also wondered why we don’t commemorate people like Jonas Salk, who discovered the polio vaccine, or Louis Pasteur, who pioneered early vaccines and the dairy pasteurization process.

Doc predicted that the change will be implemented statewide in the near future.

“In the end, what’s going to eventually end up happening … there will be an Indigenous Peoples Day in California,” he said.
