While most Americans are gathering with family and community this weekend to celebrate the most exceptional country in the history of the world, Mr. Hope and Change is halfway around the world talking doom and gloom — and criticizing his successor.

Barack Obama visited Indonesia this weekend, and in a series of appearances, attacked love of country and the policies of Donald Trump.
The Guardian reports:

The former US president said some countries had adopted “an aggressive kind of nationalism” and “increased resentment of minority groups”, in a speech in Indonesia on Saturday that could be seen as a commentary on the US as well as Indonesia.
“It’s been clear for a while that the world is at a crossroads. At an inflection point,” Obama said, telling a Jakarta crowd stories of how much the capital had improved since he lived there as a child.
But he said that increased prosperity had been accompanied by new global problems, adding that as the world confronts issues ranging from inequality to terrorism, some countries – both developed and less developed – had adopted a more aggressive and isolationist stance.

“If we don’t stand up for tolerance and moderation and respect for others, if we begin to doubt ourselves and all that we have accomplished, then much of the progress that we have made will not continue,” he said.

“What we will see is more and more people arguing against democracy, we will see more and more people who are looking to restrict freedom of the press, and we’ll see more intolerance, more tribal divisions, more ethnic divisions, and religious divisions and more violence,” Obama asserted.

While former presidents rarely criticize their successors at home, Obama took the unusual step of going to a foreign country to do it.

Considering his party's supposed views on climate change through effects of human-created
pollution, one has to wonder what all this travelling around the world with his entourage
is adding to the alleged climate alteration.

There are mediums he can access to get his messages out that doesn't involve pumping
jet-fuel gases out into the atmosphere, although the mainstream media have deemed anything
that's not on television or in newsprint 'not the done thing'

I'm starting to think that the constant barrage of information about damage to the planet is
just bullsh*t and the gases from this effluent is really the cause.
On the plus-side for his crew, Barack got to take this p*ss out of US. patriotism from a country
that boasts the largest Muslim population than any other.

I would suggest Mr. Obama may need another vacation after his strenuous role in undermining
the world's confidence in the person who moved into his seat after him, but Indonesia is an island
I suppose and he likes islands.

I try to explain to people, they will work, sure they will, but they get their monies tax free.
That's how they can afford the Big Cadillac Escalades and Chevy Suburbans and Dodge Caravans to carry their 8 kids in and their pregnant 15 year old.
Plus they live two or three families in each three bed room house with the garages turned into a bed room.

In the back yard they will have a chicken coup hens and a rooster, they will have a tool shed and that is another bed room or living space for an unmarried uncle or friend.

They also have State Assistance for medical appointments, the State program sends a car or van to pick them up and return them from Doctor appointments.
The driver will pull up and sees the very expensive cars parked everywhere put they use the State for transportation to appointments and the Pharmacy.
They don't pay taxes but WE DO and they get the Benefits!

Mexico's war on drugs: what has it achieved and how is the US involved?

'Felipe Calderón launched the war after being elected in 2006, and since then the US has donated
at least $1.5bn – but the biggest costs have been human.



Why did Mexico launch its war on drugs?

On 10 December 2006, the newly inaugurated president, Felipe Calderón, launched Mexico’s war on
drugs by sending 6,500 troops into his home state of Michoacán, where rival cartels were engaged in
tit-for-tat massacres as they battled over lucrative territory.

The surge in violence had started in 2005, and a string of police and military operations by his predecessor
Vicente Fox had failed to stem the bloodshed.

Calderón declared war eight days after taking power – a move widely seen as an attempt to boost his own
legitimacy after a bitterly contested election victory. Within two months, around 20,000 troops were involved
in operations across the country which initially attracted widespread support from communities tired of gun
battles, gruesome execution-style murders and corrupt police.

What has the war cost so far?

The US has donated at least $1.5bn through the Merida Initiative since 2008 (another $1bn has been agreed
by Congress – PDF), while Mexico has spent at least $54bn on security and defence since 2007.
Critics say that this influx of cash has helped create an opaque security industry open to corruption at every level.

But the biggest costs have been human: since 2007, almost 200,000 people have been murdered and more
than 28,000 reported as disappeared. In September 2014, 43 trainee teachers disappeared and are presumed
to have been killed after they were attacked by corrupt police officers and handed over to drug gang members.

The case – in which the Mexican army as well as corrupt politicians were implicated – has become emblematic
of the violence perpetrated in heavily militarized zones.

Human rights groups have detailed a vast rise in human rights abuses by security forces who are under pressure
to make arrests, obtain confessions and justify the war. Reports of torture by security forces increased by 600%
between 2003 and 2013, according to Amnesty International.

As the cartels have fractured and diversified, other violent crimes such as kidnapping and extortion have also
surged. In 2010, the Los Zetas cartel – founded by a group of Special Forces deserters – massacred 72 migrants
who were kidnapped while trying to reach the US...'
