'Five people were injured when a car struck pedestrians outside a sports centre in Newcastle.
It happened at about 09:14 BST outside Westgate Sports Centre where an event was taking
place to celebrate Eid.



Northumbria Police said inquiries were ongoing to establish exactly what happened,
but it was not believed to be terror-related.



A 42-year-old woman was arrested and is being questioned in police custody, police said...'

and now it seems the accident involved the driver being from the celebration.

@"Mystic Wanderer"  That's True,,, BUT, I think there would have been Deaths.
Besides, I think the Brake Pedal Operation is still pretty much Straight Forward. The computer chip for the ABS is mostly to assure the Brakes Don't Lock Up but the brakes system itself works off of Hydraulics.
Now as far as the Accelerator Control being computer controlled or Modulated would depend on the make, model and year.

But nothing is really impossible anymore.
