"Captain Calway," A voice spoke from the con.. "Visual confirmation for the other Six.. All Seven vessels have escaped earths Gravitational field.."
"Thank you, Second Lt. Zimbwa.. Begin countdown for Drone sat releases.."An older white man sat in the command chair as he looked around his bridge, "XO.."
"Captain Releasing SAT/DRONES," Second Lt. Zimbwa smiles to himself.. "Sir.."
"Captain.. All Stations report we are a go," A Hispanic female spoke.. "Lt. Colonel Ferrin.."
A female woman spoke with a slight Isreali Accent, "Commander Wyat.. The Asimov and the Hawkins report no issues.. The Zheng He reports some minor injuries among GS's.. The Norumbega reports the same.. " With a sour face, "The Spacey Mc. Space Space and the Carpet Muncher report minor shifting of supplies.."
"that still irks you doesnt it.. Wyat..The internet chose those names and I insisted they be honored.." Captain Calway's texas accent came through, "Houston.. We are on our way.. Second star to the right on till morning Second Lt."
"God D@#$ it Calway.." A voice came through the speakers, "You were not scheduled to launch till 0700.. "
"Houston.." Captain Calway leans back in his modified spacesuit, "My orders from President Trump were passed down directly to me in the White house.. And I quote, 'Get us to Mars however you see fit Captain..' "
"We were not supposed to launch," Commander Wyat looked at the captain..
"Not at all.. You see a few friends of mine in intelligence dropped me a few lines.. It seems certain members of Congress had planned to stop our launch tomorrow.." Captain Calway hit a few buttons, "This is Captain Calway to the Asimov, Hawkins, Zheng He, Norumbega, Spacey Mc. Space Space, and the carpet Muncher.. We got out of dodge right before we got hit with a federal restraining order. "
"Captain Calway.. They will releave you of duty," The voice from Houston was Pissed off..
"Actually no.. You will find certain crew members Missing," Captain Calway laughed. "They are probably watching us in a bar right now.. Commanders.. Our orders were quiet simple.. We delivery the Supplies and the personnel to mars.. The Enterprise will provide escort till mars.. After the landing of the Two transports andthe two suppliers, the two science ships will launch the satellites around orbit of mars. The enterprise will assist in the survey for six months.. The the crews of the Science ships, with the escort of the Enterprise, will return to earth.."
After a few seconds, Lt. Col. ferrin shakes her head.. "Captain the commanders have all responded.." A smile breaks out on her stern face and she answers back in russian.. After a few seconds, "The Commander of the Carpet Muncher said that houston could.. Sir it translates to.."
"Tell him I agree.." Captain Calway grins, "Tell him I am curious on how far up Pelosi's ass his ship would fit.. Might I suggest we finish the mission first."
Laughter comes from the Lt. col.'s station..

".. the design is not really new or revolutionary.." Neil DeGrasse Tyson spoke, "The plan is very simple.. Stage one was divided into two parts.. Personnel then equipment. As we see the Personnel while leaving some with moral questions have launched stage one.."
"So Mr. Tyson you support Trump's obvious political ploy to shore up a sagging administration," Rachel Maddow spoke coldly..
"Rachel.. The selection process was unique.. The plan, in laymens terms, called for borrowing from the Met's selection process.. All blind.. then once the selection had been made absent sex, race, or national origin.. a singular Captain was chosen.. Then a second round of choices were made via closed interviews, still blind.." Niel smiled, "the genius here is that Captain Calway never looked at personnel records beyond skills.."
"So how do you feel about the inclusion of several criminals in the choices," Rachel sounded stern. "It has been this administrations.."
"Rachel it was all blind.. Captain Calway did not allow that to be included.. It was a pure meritocracy.." Neil seemed pleased, "those same undesirables..They kept the mars mission on schedule.."
Rachel sighed, "I will give you that.. He launched in the middle of the night.. To no fan fare.. "
"The president had no clue.."Neil seemed to smile.. "the crew is the best of the best.. I do not care that the Captain is white.. Or that he was in trouble for sleeping with enlisted.. We are, as the human race, on the way to mars."
"Ok.. we will skip the choices for ground crew and excetra.. " rachel snorted and laughed, "The technology side.."
"This is where it gets interesting.. A culmination of all our tech.." Neil tapped on the computer in front of him, "One of the two supply ships are loaded with basic parts for replication.. The three d printers, machine shops, non- replicatable items, and spares.. The carpet muncher has the bulk of the organic supplies.. At least to the best of our knowledge.."
"Captain Calway probably lied.." Rachel shook her head, "His record indicates he probably split them up between the six ships. I do want to get back to the Enterprise being fully Armed."
"Well the main thing is the intent to set up aquaponics on mars to feed the work crews.." Neil brought up a diagram, "If at least thirty percent of the stock survives the whole trip.. We are looking at a working colony.."
"So why the weapons on the enterprise," Rachel interrupted..
"I do not like the idea either.. However," Neil took a deep breath. "The technology on the Enterprise is the most advanced.. We will be able to gauge from the various systems what will work with our new probes and what wont.." Bringing up a map of the Solar system, "As we speak these satellites are deploying around the solar system forming a relay system in earths orbit.. A second group has launched.."
"Wait a second group," Rachel held up her hand?
"The President authorized me to tell this once they were on their way.. You see We also launched a moon project.." neil seemed to be beaming, "It appears that all the funding did NOT go to the Mars expidition.. We will have the ability if everything goes right for the Shuttles to land on the moon.. Supplies will be available and potentially rescue missions.."
"Wait.. A moon base.. Congress did not approve this.."
"Actually they did.. It is an insurance policy.. If something goes wrong we are covered," Neil brought up the picture of the other six ships. "These were not sracpped as told.. they were repurposed.. We have space program my fellow earthlings.."
