Banners Like There's No Tomorrow!
The sun shone down and all around my garden was quiet.
I snoozed on a recliner as Boy In A Dress watched from the shade of shed,
his twinkly grin the only evidence he was in there.

Later, as I clambered up to get a cool drink of water, I thought I heard BIAD
giggle and when I caught my reflection in the window, I realised I was correct.

There's a kid in the movie 'Close Encounters Of the 3rd Kind' that's a friend of
the family dealing with their Father's behavior. The small boy looks upon Richard
Dreyfuss' character and comments that he looks like 50-50 bar.

I don't know what one is, but I get the similarity. One side red. the other pale.

There's a rule I have about dancing in the rain if you're a person wearing a short red
dress and called Boy In A Dress.
it's that you have to wear the said-dress during the dance.

Disgraceful, me with lotion on one side of face to take away the pain from yesterday's
sunbathing and then suddenly, all bouncy and floppy things passing and slapping my
conservatory window.
With a telephone repairman looking on from his high pole across the street too.

Oh heck, the phone's ringing again... gotta go.

As Boy In A Dress blushed at Gordi's gratitude, I began to pick-up around the
garden after last night's storm. After realising the most untidy thing on my
property was BIAD, I gave up and readjusted some solar-lights to imply I'd
done something.

Here's bugger-lugs' banners.

Boy In A Dress spent the morning again, around the mother-in-law's house and
from what I heard later, he became interested with a road-crew across from her
house were laying a new driveway.

The details of how BIAD slipped over during the workmen's break and performed
a 'Concrete-Angel' in the wet cement were out-played by how the returning driveway
creators knew it was the Man-Girl had done it.

After apologising for BIAD's behavior, we all managed a little laugh when they showed
me the vandalism. He'd made his design by laying face-down.

Boy In A Dress and I spent the whole day under the burning sun and tore out trees
with our bare hands.
Sorry, I'll bring that back down to earth a bit.

BIAD and me took out two bushes from the garden -including the root systems and
at times, the sun shone. As that same sun is setting, we feel well used and somehow,
good.
(I treated him to a cool gin & tonic!)

Friday's downpour kept Boy In A Dress in his shed for most of the day and
that's really about it. To add some background to today's narrative, I tidied
my garage for ten minutes and also decided to do the laundry tomorrow.

I hope that helps.

Boy In A Dress smirked this Saturday evening as I relayed Mystic's comment
on a piece of his artwork. But he may have just been suffering with wind.

Off BIAD went to his Discotheque revelry and I believe he's earned it with his hard
work during the past week. My eyesight must be playing-up as closing the door,
I thought I saw the driveway-crew from my Mother-in-law's neighbourhood, waiting
just up the road.

Nah, I must be just tired.

If BIAD went anywhere near a food with a spicy kick to it, I'm sure his shed would be ablaze some time in the early hours.
His penchant for farting -which he still thinks is funny when he makes noises that he alleges sound like farm animals, was
discovered during my son's sixth birthday.

It was a glorious summer's day and we'd decided to have the celebration in the garden, it was all lawn then.
Boy In A Dress hadn't been with us long and to get to know my family better, he asked if he could help out in
preparing the party for the children.

It was when I asked him to inflate some balloons that I berate myself for now. If I knew BIAD then like I do now,
I'd have done things differently.

My son's a man now and still remembers the day, the toddlers crying because of the noxious smells during the game
'Burst 'Em All' and the mothers gagging and screaming there's a gas-leak.
Up to that point, all the female parents seemed happy with BIAD as he wandered around bending down and picking
up dropped litter.

Thinking back, I realise now what he meant when he asked me if my son wanted assistance in blowing out the candles.
Adjusting to him is a process.

It's getting friggin' worse around here in the world of Boy In A Dress, you wouldn't
have believed what I caught him and Mrs. Miggins up to this afternoon.

Back in the eighties, there was a Coca-Cola advert with the theme music of a lady
called Robin Beck and the song was 'First Time'. An emotional little ditty about that
first date or dance in a time when you knew who-was-what.

This one.

......................................

Under the Sunday sunshine, BIAD and Mrs. Miggins -with the music blaring out of
a cassette-player she'd no-doubt borrowed from Big Babs' room, running down the
street towards each other just like the nubile boy and girls did on the television
commercial about a liquid that can clean a copper penny  tastes sugary.

I was about to shout that enough-was-enough and the poor old-duck's heart will
give out when the pair of idiots ran together and after spinning Mrs. Miggins around
by her frail forearms, they both fell to the pavement giggling.

It's early evening and to be honest, I'm still grinning at the innocent gaiety of it all.
