Another failure of European officialdom

The phrases “death to white people” and “f... the police” were found written on the side of the building last weekend. Local mayor Ingrid Holemans said that she is taking the statements very seriously and that they are likely connected to the resurgence of the movement inspired by the death of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer.

“It’s a reaction to what happened in the United States,” Holemans said. She added: “It has to do with the death of George Floyd, the African American who died during a police intervention.”

Seems to me the graffiti is not half as important as the disconnection from reality advertised by the Holemans' statement.  She fails to understand-

* the "go" orders for this activity have nothing to do with George Floyd.  Floyd was a convenient incident for the antifa types to seize upon and exploit.

* that these Leftist groups are linked by the internet.  In the pre-internet age, it would have been very unusual for an American dissident movement to have a European wing of any kind, much less one that moved in lock-step with their style of ideological provocation.

Rather, what this incident reveals is that Belgium is experiencing subversive activity as a result of provocation by foreign agents operating on behalf of interests that are anti-Western and anti-democratic.  What is also clear is that the current generation of politicians are unaware of, and unprepared for, how ideological conflict is conducted today.  Holemans is hardly alone in her naïveté.
