Brave men, however the battle of the Atlantic was mainly fought by the British. If you think about the British bomber command they had losses ( in cluing training) was +60%, think about knowing your chance of getting back were less than 50% but still going again and again, and after all this Churchill turned his back on them after the war.
The real unsung heroes were the merchant sea men who kept going back again and again saving the UK and Russia.
It was a time that men and women from many countries stood up and said NO.
I think the UK will never see women and man like that again.
