A future of genetic manipulation is already here. It just depends on how the science is used however regardless the way things can be made and changed is the stuff of Scifi, no kidding. This is a short TED talk and worth a listen IMO.

The frightening bit is that humanity now has these technical capabilities, but not the wisdom to avoid doing things that shouldn't be done.
