Portland school board bans climate change-denying materials - senona - 05-24-2016 Nothing like a bunch of environmentalists rewriting text books, blowing off the fact that science as a whole, is about questioning and researching regardless of the subject. So now, they want the books to read as they "think" (believe) that things are when it comes to climate change Quote:In a move spearheaded by environmentalists, the Portland Public Schools board unanimously approved a resolution aimed at eliminating doubt of climate change and its causes in schools. Linky Like I said, science is about questioning and do use words like might, may and could. Here is a short clip of a teacher that talks about a sentence that says -- "not all scientists agree with the greenhouse effect" (at about the 30 second mark) The yuppie gooberhead had the audacity to claim that it is simply not factual..........Yo dude, you are not being factual! Talk about ignorant, narrow-minded environmentalist, brainwashing the kids by limiting their knowledge according to what they, the so-called teachers, want them to 'learn' according to THEIR beliefs, not what science is showing, which is up for debate. Hence why there are scientists that are for and against the global warming theory. Boy if I was a parent, I would pull my kid out of that controlling school. Like the Earth has not gone through radical climate changes over the millions of years??? So what, are they not going to talk about the past environment changes that have occurred BEFORE Man entered the picture Nothing like being in a position to push your agenda, such as a teacher, redoing the school books to better suit your wishes. Pathetic and sad RE: Portland school board bans climate change-denying materials - senona - 05-24-2016 Quote:Nobel Laureate Dr. Ivar Giaever: 'The temperature (of the Earth) has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this 'warming' period.' Oh Mr.Teacher, you might want to do some more research on your theory of ALL scientists support Man-made climate change As I already stated, not all scientists believe the GW agenda that is being pushed by you and your school If I have to pick between a yuppie environmentalist and a Nobel Prize-Winning Physicist, think I am going to listen to the specialist in the matter....the Physicist Quote: The reason he resigned, is the same case scenario as the stupid school board. They did not want anyone questioning GW, stating that is is "incontrovertible" That is not what science is about Science is about questioning, researching, doing studies Yet when it comes to GW, all science is to cease and no one is allowed to question it. Period. That is wrong on so many levels Quote:In addition to Giaever, other prominent scientists have resigned from APS over its stance on man-made global warming. See: Prominent Physicist Hal Lewis Resigns from APS: ‘Climategate was a fraud on a scale I have never seen…Effect on APS position: None. None at all. This is not science’ http://www.climatedepot.com/2011/09/14/exclusive-nobel-prizewinning-physicist-who-endorsed-obama-dissents-resigns-from-american-physical-society-over-groups-promotion-of-manmade-global-warming/ So the teacher is inaccurate in his assumption about scientists and GW Think he needs to go back to school. RE: Portland school board bans climate change-denying materials - senona - 05-24-2016 Another scientist who resigned from APS due to them pushing man-made GW and not allowing scientists to dispute it SOURCE Basically, no one is supposed to question GW Nice, real nice So much for science, being able to research and do studies The Global Warming agenda hoax is in place it seems RE: Portland school board bans climate change-denying materials - senona - 05-25-2016 Another article regarding this school's actions on removing from school books, what they "think" is inappropriate wording when it comes to climate change and science Quote:But a few days after the vote, the story took on a life of its own, mostly outside Portland: Some websites called the move a “ban” on specific books, while another claimed that the district would scan its libraries and remove all books that weren’t up to snuff. One of the advocates fielded emails calling him an “idiot” and a “d-bag.” Well, I myself am guilty of calling that one guy ignorant and a gooberhead for his remarks, stating that something was "not factually correct" in regards to not all scientists are in agreement of the greenhouse effect When in reality, he is so driven by his own motives, that he is flat out ignoring science and all that it stands for. Quote:These screeds, Rosen said, missed the point. “I’m not saying that we’re going to burn the textbooks. I’m not saying that we’re going to destroy the textbooks,” he said. "What we’re talking about is getting up-to-date texts.” Portland schools tried to change how they teach climate change — and ignited a firestorm No what you are talking about is editing the books to suit your fancy and deprive the kids of any real debate on Man-made climate change versus NATURAL evolution of Mother Earth. You are injecting YOUR own beliefs into "what should be taught" instead of allowing the students to learn about the process of science...yes, the "Might, could be, may" wording that you so despise. Because science is just that Studying and researching, asking questions Research more...study different areas As per NASA.GOV Please note the part of .... Science is not just a tidy package of knowledge, Science is not just a step-by-step approach to discovery. Science is more like a mystery inviting anyone who is interested to become a detective and join in the fun. As well as..... Anyone can have an idea about how nature works. Some people think their idea is correct because "it seems right" or "it makes sense." But for a scientist (who could be you!), this is not enough. A scientist will test the idea in the real world. An idea that predicts how the world works is called a hypothesis. That last part sounds like the environmentalist They think their idea is correct, because " it seems right" Therefore they want to indoctrinate the students to think as they do, instead of letting them learn ALL about a topic from various points of views, not just the selected idealistic view of the school. RE: Portland school board bans climate change-denying materials - Chiefsmom - 05-25-2016 It is absolutely disgraceful what are schools are becoming. It makes it clear why online, and homeschooling become more popular everyday. As I have posted elsewhere, I formed my opinion on climate change by reading and having spoke to an extended family member. He is a scientist. He studies trees, and other things. He can show you cycles in the weather, with tree rings. It is very interesting. While I believe that we MOST DEFINITELY need to clean up our act, and our planet, the weather has been changing for millions of years, and will do so long after we are gone. There are too many other factors, including the sun, that we cannot effect. RE: Portland school board bans climate change-denying materials - Melina Hawk - 05-25-2016 This is a great example as to why it is so important to be involved in your kids education. I just proof read a paper my senior in high school did, and it was worthy of a spot on a conspiracy site. That's my influence. LOL. So, what they are doing - I don't mind so much. We need to be cognizant of our impact we have on our immediate environment. To steer our children into a more "green" frame of mind won't hurt our planet or ourselves. My kids are aware of the science. The whole solar system is heating up. Not just us. Therefore, we can't be wholly responsible for the heat. But we are responsible for our impact on our immediate surroundings. Take the Sahara Desert for example Now who is to blame for it changing from a once lush forest to what it is now? Are they not going to discuss that or just ignore major changes that have occurred before Man came onto the scene But what this school is attempting to do, is indoctrinate the students to "think" as they want them to, blowing off scientists that dispute GW agenda. Not allowing for any challenge/debate on the topic Quote:This is a great example as to why it is so important to be involved in your kids education.
