China Joining Russia in the Syrian Conflict - Grace - 10-27-2016

A little over a year ago it was rumored that should it begin to appear as if Assad might fall that China would enter the fray in Syria.

However, later Russian analysts denied the rumor saying China would most likely not be involving themselves in the Syrian Conflict due to conflicting economic interests in the region.

Now, a new story is coming out from RT from August of this year, (I had missed the story until now..) that China is definitely getting involved in Syria now.

Quote: Beijing and Damascus have agreed that the Chinese military will provide humanitarian aid to Syria, a high-ranking People's Liberation Army officer said, adding that the training of Syrian personnel by Chinese instructors has also been discussed.

Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of China's Central Military Commission, Guan Youfei, arrived in Damascus on Tuesday for talks with Syrian Defense Minister Fahad Jassim al-Freij, Chinese Xinhua news agency reported.
During the negotiation, Guan noted China’s consistent diplomatic efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, adding that Beijing is now seeking closer military ties with Damascus.

Basically, the article states the Chinese are mainly going in for humanitarian purposes, but are planning some military training as well of the Syrian troops, (possibly jointly with Russia?)

As far as stories that China is now becoming involved, RT is far from the only Russian source.. but all roads for this story lead back to Russian sources. I am curious if this story is true and not just Russian propaganda, as Russia is intimating that they are ready to go to war over Syria with the rest of the world if need be at current moment, so Russian propaganda is not out of the question.

Therefore, I am wondering if there are any Chinese sources that China is becoming involved in Syria, and to what extent that involvement might be?

Does anyone here have any Chinese language who might be able to tell of Chinese involvement from the Chinese perspective?

I like to take things with a grain of salt until I feel as if there is confirmation, however if this RT story is true and China has decided to increase their support of the Syrian government it is a marked change in China's policy, and therefore, something to take seriously especially seeing how China changed their law in order to get involved in anti terrorism operations outside of China last December.
