You dont continue to use a man’s wife as the butt of jokes and not expect such.  Not if we are speaking about a man and not a boi.  If there was a prior episode, Id bet Smith knew better than do it again.

I see both offenses as minor and evened out.

I thought it was an honor to be the butt of a joke at what is considered a mega event among the Hollywood crowd. Of course, what they think of as funny, is not funny to me at all. In some cases, like that roast they did of Bob Saget, are downright disgusting. But I think most of Hollywood is disgusting.

Chris's GI Jane joke was extremely mild. Too mild to warrant the response from Will. This is either fake or something else is going on here. The whole event stands out in neon, when you look at the speech Will gave when he received his award. The whole thing is so creepy that it screams. I just can't make out what it is screaming.

Would it be more acceptable that Smith defend a daughter or mother in this way, essentially a bitch slap?

What was he defending? He really didn't say anything that was offensive, and he said nothing that was hidden.

I don't even think Will was reacting to the joke, which did nothing to demean Jada at all. There is something missing here. Or it was just a super clever ploy, to get us doing exactly what we are doing now.

It was the second time he made Jada the butt of a joke at the oscars.  Thats a pattern.  That tells me there is much drama under the surface between them all, as in any group of peers, and while the attention IS good for the oscars, I felt it to be genuine.

I can see my son doing this in defense of his wife or me.  We have a redneck background.  Smiths actions were predictable, in many working man’s neighborhoods.

The most important take away in this whole affair, is that it was Trump’s fault:

I really don't have much to say except that was uncalled for. What Smith did was wrong.

I think it was all staged. Reminded me of watching WWE Smackdown I use to watch with my son.

RE: At the Oscars too? - ABNARTY - 03-29-2022

Probably the most exciting thing that has happened at the Oscars in years.

Let's hope it's a trend.

I might just tune in if there's going to be throw-downs a'plenty.

Why wasn't Mr. Smith arrest for assault?

RE: At the Oscars too? - Bloodstained - 03-31-2022

100% publicity stunt imo...nobody watches the Oscars anymore...they had the dude from the not popular The Office as the host 4 years in a row...desperation at it's lowest...
