So, literally no one, exactly zero persons, in the history of The United States, has done that, ever?

I would like that verified from a credible source.

I wait.

Indeed, we are all standing on shaky ground. More of us are broken than not. But two out of three ain't bad.

Okay. I can't give you a source, so I will change my statement to, "I can think of no reason for anyone to have to loot to obtain food, in America".

We have people on street corners, bearing signs, "Will work for food". Buskars are everywhere, even out in the woods, but rarely are they busking for food.

I have known on many occasions of the police buying groceries for people who really need it. Churches are everywhere and most of them have pantries.

I serve twice a week, we provide free food to anyone that requests it.

I can think of no reason for anyone in America to have to steal for food.

Americans throws away more food than every other country on the planet. I know it may be hard for other countries to believe that, but there just is no good reason for people to steal food in America.

And i lied. These are breadlines, Finland, present time.

There is not enough food for these people to be shared. They wait, no matter what the weather is like, they wait, for hours and hours, just to be told that there is no more food left. They have fallen through the safety networks that society has put in place. Often very sick individuals, without any kind of social network. 3 choices for them. They remain hungry, they go dumpster diving or they steal.

Pleased to read that things are better in America.

Yeah, well I don't know for how much longer.

I chastise my family for the ridiculous amount of waste. I tell them almost daily that I pray they will never see the day in the future, where they will cry for the food they waste today.

We know hard times are coming. That is why we are trying so hard to shore up our community food co-op. Right now things are okay.

We have added the BOGO connection. Many of our group does not need the extra food, so when they purchase "Buy One Get One Free", they donate the free item.

I am sorry for anyone that"has" to go hungry. I know the importance of being able to make stone soup. However, in a time when all are hungry, stealing food, will come at a much higher price.

I will gladly share all that I have to give, but even I will walk the long mile to allow a child to have my portion, so I am going to be a bit territorial if some other adult comes along with plans to steal from that child. Maybe I am being a bit Mama Bearish, but forgive me for that, please.

I favor that part, "You'll save the taxpayers some money."

The problem is where the jurisdiction of the local police begins. You might actually have to defend yourself against them ... which is the true shame in America ... that a citizen has to worry about being persecuted for doing the right thing.

Nothing to forgive. You are great. Better than great, you are virtuous. EXTREMELY rare these days.

I have never understood why people waste food? I mean, how rich can a person be, to be able to waste food to begin with.

I waste food exactly 0 grams per year. I buy what i eat, and i eat what i buy. Why would i buy more food than what i eat? I am insane, but i have boundaries to my madness.
