Quote:US charges alleged Chinese spies in telecoms probe case

'Two Chinese nationals have been charged with paying thousands of dollars in cash and jewellery to obstruct
a federal investigation into a major telecommunications company. According to prosecutors, the two men
attempted to recruit a US law enforcement official as an intelligence asset to help interfere with the probe.

[Image: _127323922_04bed274127b7b4164eff7566351c...7.jpg.webp]

The official, however, was working as a double agent for the FBI.
Eleven other Chinese citizens were also charged in two other spying cases.

According to charging documents, the two men - identified as Gouchun He and Zheng Wang - attempted to
cultivate a relationship with a US law enforcement official and sought details of the investigation, including
witnesses, evidence and potential criminal charges. They also asked the official to secretly record trial strategy
meetings.

While the company was not named in the documents or by Attorney General Merrick Garland at a news conference
on Monday, US media has reported it to be China-headquartered tech giant Huawei, citing sources familiar with the
investigation. US officials declined to identify the company.

"This was an egregious attempt by PRC (People's Republic of China) intelligence officers to shield a PRC based
company from accountability and to undermine the integrity of our judicial system," Mr Garland said,

The two alleged spies paid the official tens of thousands of dollars in cash and jewellery, including $41,000 in Bitcoin
for a photograph of a single page - marked "classified" - that purported to discuss a plan to charge and arrest company
officials. Additional payments were made as recently as last week.

Unknown to the alleged spies, the US official was working on behalf of the FBI and passed along fake documents,
Mr Garland told reporters. In a separate case in New Jersey, four people - including three alleged intelligence operatives
- were charged with using a fake think tank to recruit current and former US officials.

According to Mr Garland, the suspects hoped to procure technology and have it shipped to China, as well as interfere
with US protests that could be "embarrassing".

Additionally, seven Chinese nationals were charged with attempting to force a naturalised US citizen to return to China,
part of what US officials described as part of a transnational effort to recover fugitives and silence dissidents and perceived
opponents of the Chinese government. Two of those suspects are in custody.

According to Mr Garland, the Chinese government forced the victim's nephew to travel from China to convey threats, told
him that "coming back and turning herself in is the only way out", and sent agents to the home of the victim's son.
"They made clear that their harassment would not stop until the victim returned to China," Mr Garland said.

Prosecutors had filed similar charges against alleged Chinese spies last year, accusing them of attempting to exert influence
over US citizens and residents.

In late 2021 and early 2022, for example, US officials believe an affiliate of China's Ministry of State Security (MSS) hired a
US-based private investigator to uncover "unflattering information" about a US congressional candidate who had participated
in pro-democracy demonstrations in Hong Kong in 2015, as well as at least one state-level legislator who they believed may
run for re-election...'

  Canada Is Being Disarmed

Quote:Canada Is Being Disarmed: Trudeau Now Coming for Handguns After Mandatory 'Assault Rifle' Surrender

Oh … Canada.

In a move that is somehow both stunning and not surprising at all, Canada officially banned the buying, selling and transferring of handguns on Friday. People will also not be able to bring newly acquired handguns into the country.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the widespread ban at a news conference in Surrey, British Columbia.

Of note, handgun ownership registration processes that began before Friday will be honored, and all current handgun owners will be able to keep their current weapons.

This sweeping handgun ban follows just a few scant years after a similar May 2020 ban on “military-grade assault weapons.” Those weapons included 1,500 different models and variants.

To put that in perspective, within a span of 30 months, Canada has completely frozen the sale and movement of most guns in the country. Thirty months is a shockingly small time frame to pull that off.

You could give America 30 years, and they probably couldn’t ban 15 models and variants of weapons, let alone over 1,500 guns.

That naturally begs the scary question: What’s next for Canada?

Based on what has been banned, it appears most shotguns and hunting rifles are still par for the course. But how quickly could that change given what everyone has seen lately from Canada?

If a bad person legally acquired a shotgun and goes on a murdering spree with it, surely shotguns will be next to be fully banned in Canada. Although, it is worth noting that Canada has yet to ban knives given some of the murderous rampages the country has been subjected to. And that last comment was only half-sarcastic.

Fortunately, there does appear to be some semblance of reason up North.

A quartet of provinces have refused to cooperate with Trudeau’s gun-targeting
C-21 Bill.

Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba all voiced their opposition to C-21 in early October and made it clear that they do not plan to reallocate any police resources to enforce any mandatory gun buybacks. More recently, New Brunswick also appeared to have joined this opposition coalition.

Tyler Shandro, Alberta’s Minister of Justice, made it clear that these restrictive laws are only truly targeting law-abiding citizens.

“The federal government’s national handgun freeze is now in effect. The ban means that Canadians interested in becoming new handgun owners are unable to do so. Sadly, with no new purchases being made, ranges, sport shooting clubs and firearms-related businesses will slowly be forced to shut down, compromising livelihoods and recreational opportunities for tens of thousands of Canadians,” Shandro began in a statement.

  Shapers of the New Narrative
Posted by: EndtheMadnessNow - 10-24-2022, 12:03 AM - Forum: The Enlightened Ones or The Powers That Be - Replies (4)

Fantastic, thought provoking presentation.

Summary:

Quote:In this video, I am going to be taking a close look at the elements of our modern culture in “Shapers of the New Narrative” that have profoundly influenced our lives and world view to this day.

In the first part of “Shapers of the New Narrative,” I focus on the subjects of dime westerns, wild west shows, and western movies.

Part two (@36:46) is about the role played by such things as penny candy; dime museums; circuses; nickelodeons & the early movie industry; and daredevils.

I look into the origins of radio and television in part three (@53:44) of this video and in part 4 (@1:15:07), I explore the subject of computers and video games, and related subjects and devices.

Are these random events unfolding, or is there a deliberate, outcome-based  long-term plan driving everything that has been happening in our lives?

I originally presented this as a four-part series about a year ago, and have merged all the information into this one video.

Some of ya'll will find part 4 most interesting.

  A discovery about rating posts
Posted by: Freija - 10-23-2022, 01:12 PM - Forum: Rogue-Nation Tutorials - Replies (12)

I have just discovered that rating posts actually does work but I have found out why it doesn't look like it does.

If you are on a desktop browser and click the rate button, it appears to freeze the screen BUT WAIT!!!

If you hold your CTRL key and roll you mouse wheel to zoom out, like really zoom out, you can see the tiny rating box down in the bottom left corner. This also might work for those with login box issues?

Now that I have figured out the screen isn't actually freezing, on my test site I will try to figure out how to position the rating box so you can see it.

If this temporary solution works for you, rate me, baby!  tinybiggrin lol

After installing MyBB on my test site, (https://dooberville.com/Test/) tinkering with it for a few days and seeing how hard it is and what is involved, I have gained a YUUUGE appreciation for the hard work that is being done here and the skill and hours that have been put in so we can keep on Rogue'in!

My husband is back in the hospital
Posted by: ChiefD - 10-23-2022, 04:09 AM - Forum: The Lit Candle Hall - Replies (43)

I just got back from the hospital ER. Earlier this evening, the nursing home called me and told me they were doing CPR on my husband. I felt my world crash around me. They mentioned the hospital he usually goes to and asked me if I wanted him transported there. I said yes. She then stated that they got his heart going again and the paramedics were loading him up to go to the hospital. She asked if I was alone. I told her I was, and she asked if there was anyone that could drive me to the hospital as she didn't want me driving. I called my parents. They came and got me and took me to the hospital. I was borderline hysterical when I got to the ER. When I checked in, they told me he was stable and conscious, and they were doing tests. They said someone would come talk to me and then I could see him.

Everyone there was so nice. I talked to a social worker and a couple of nurses. Then I got to see him for a little bit. He was awake and aware. I told him how much I love him, and to be strong. I told him they would be admitting him, and that I would come back first thing in the morning. He nodded and smiled. The nurse updated me. The chest x-ray indicated he has double pneumonia. She also said his white blood cell count was elevated. I replied that the nursing home told me he had a UTI, which they have him on Cipro for, and congestive heart failure, which they have him on a diuretic for. She replied that the nursing home neither told the hospital nor the paramedics that. She thanked me for that. I was shocked that the nursing home did not give them that information. Good thing I told her. A couple of days ago, the nursing home actually told me he did not have pneumonia. No wonder he went into cardiac arrest. Double pneumonia, a UTI, and congestive heart failure. I'm so glad they pulled him from the brink.

He will be admitted. I decided to go back home, as they assured me they would take care of him being admitted and they have my contact info if they need to reach me. My husband was so tired. I'm still a mess, and I don't think I will be getting any sleep, but will at least try and lie down for a while. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks.

  The films of Luc Besson
Posted by: MisterSpock - 10-23-2022, 03:31 AM - Forum: Movies and TV Shows - Replies (3)

Sometimes it's hard to put a face to films, as a huge action movie fan who loves all the major ones from the 80's and 90's, I think this guy is overlooked or atleast unknown when it comes to newer(ish) action movies. But he's been the writer behind some real good ones, many that I'm guessing most people don't even know, but have enjoyed.

I'm going through some of his old films, I haven't seen them in awhile, but if you are an action fan you've no doubt seen a few and if you like them, check out his others. I'm sure some of these films have been enjoyed by many of you.

This will also push back first contact thousands of years, since they(aliens) don't want to be on the hook either for all this money.
