The Drone That Hated Christmas!
Posted by: BIAD - 12-23-2018, 10:39 PM - Forum: General News and Events - Replies (3)

A major airport in England called Gatwick has been the place of massive delays for the last few days due
to the concern that a drone was buzzing the runways and risking flight take-offs.

Every day, a report was offered in the multiple news outlets that spoke of sightings of the device, the misery
of delayed passengers being late home for Christmas and the ineptitude of the Police to capture the culprits
controlling the drone.

The same media suggested it was some type of 'eco-protest' and discussed different ways of shooting the
machine out of the sky safely. The BBC even showed a vague shape in the sky that was ringed to notify its
viewers.
Then two people were arrested -as the husband was a model-maker and the married couple lived close to
Gatwick airport.

By Sunday, the airport south of London was back to normal. However, the week-long drama may have been just
that, theatre.

Quote:Gatwick drone – police sensationally admit there may never have been a drone attack as cops slammed over
couple quizzed for 36 hours

Paul Gait, 47, and wife Elaine Kirk, 54, were arrested at their Crawley home on Friday night over the attacks
but have now been released without charge.

'Cops have today been slammed for holding a married couple without charge over the Gatwick chaos - before
admitting 'there may never have been a drone'. Paul Gait, 47, and wife Elaine Kirk, 54, spent more than 36 hours
being quizzed by detectives over the device that brought Gatwick Airport to its knees.

They returned to their home in Crawley, Sussex today after friends and family insisted they weren't the "eco warriors"
behind the attack. Window fitter Paul's boss revealed he was at work during the attacks which affected 14,000
passengers.

As the culprit remains at large four days after the attacks, police have been criticised for their "appalling investigation".
Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Tingley said there was "no available footage and they are relying on witness
accounts."

Asked about speculation if there was never a drone, he said: "Of course, that's a possibility.
We are working with human beings saying they have seen something."
It comes as police revealed they found a damaged drone close to Gatwick and offered a £50,000 reward to catch the
culprit.

Police are working through information relating to "persons of interest", investigating more than 67 drone sightings
and forensically examining the damaged drone, he insisted.
John Allard, who runs Allard Double Glazing, claimed he had tried to call cops to clear Paul's name but officers never
phoned him back.

He said: "Obviously the police could have handled it better just by asking the who, when and where.
The police have handled this absolutely appallingly, they really have."
He explained how window fitter Paul had been working on Wednesday in Kent and was driving John's injured daughter
around on Friday.

John said: "I know Paul well, he's worked for me for 17 years and this is going to hit him like a 10-tonne truck.
Paul Gait is as harmless as a bloody newborn fly. "He really is, he's the most inoffensive bloke you'll ever meet...'
The Sun:

Odd, even after the BBC offered the amateur footage, they now report:

Quote:'...Sussex Police said there had been 67 reports of drone sightings - having earlier cast doubt on "genuine drove
activity".
Det Ch Supt Jason Tingley said no footage of a drone had been obtained.
And he said there was "always a possibility" the reported sightings of drones were mistaken...'
BBC:

I presume the 'drove' is a spelling error.

On Twitter:
Sussex Police
#GatwickDrones | For clarification: we are investigating 67 #drone sightings made by public,
passengers, police officers and staff at @GatwickAirport. We have recovered a damaged #drone,
we're conducting house to house enquiries & taking statements from all who reported sightings

So what the hell has caused thousands of commuters to be late home...? Or was it just another of these false-flag,
'look-over-here' stories?

222 in Indonesia Killed by Tsunami
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 12-23-2018, 02:26 PM - Forum: Forces of Nature - No Replies

A sad story right here at what should be a happy time of celebration with family and friends. And that's exactly what some of these people were doing when a tsunami struck without warning in Indonesia, sweeping all on the beach away, including a group of concert goers. People in nearby hotels were also caught off guard as the walls of water came crashing in.
Many are still missing, which indicates the number of dead will be rising.

May those who lost loved ones find comfort and strength at this time, and those who perished rest in peace.

Quote:CARITA BEACH, Indonesia (AP) — A tsunami believed to be triggered by a volcanic eruption killed at least 222 people in Indonesia during a busy holiday weekend, sweeping away hotels, hundreds of houses and a group of people attending a beach concert.

More than 800 were reported injured and 28 missing after the tsunami hit around the Sunda Strait on Saturday night, the Disaster Management Agency said. The toll could continue to rise because some areas had not yet been reached.

Scientists, including those from Indonesia's Meteorology and Geophysics agency, said Sunday that the tsunami could have been caused by undersea landslides or those occurring above sea level on the Anak Krakatau volcano's steep outside slope following the eruption. The volcano's name translates to "Child of Krakatoa," a volcanic island formed over years after one of the largest eruptions in recorded history occurred at the Krakatoa volcano more than a century ago. The scientists also cited tidal waves caused by the full moon.

Dramatic video posted on social media showed an Indonesian pop band named "Seventeen" performing under a tent on a popular beach at a concert for employees of a state-owned electricity company. Dozens of people sat listening at tables covered in white cloths while others bobbed to the music near the stage as bright strobe lights flashed and theatrical smoke was released.

A child could also be seen wandering through the crowd. Seconds later, with the drummer pounding just as the next song was about to begin, the stage suddenly heaved forward and buckled under the force of the water, throwing the band and all their equipment into the audience.

The group released a statement saying their bass player, guitarist and road manager were found dead, while two other band members and the wife of one of the performers remained missing.

"The tide rose to the surface and dragged all the people on site," the statement said. "Unfortunately, when the current receded our members are unable to save themselves while some did not find a place to hold on."

Tourists were also affected during the long holiday weekend ahead of Christmas.
"I had to run, as the wave passed the beach and landed 15-20m (meters, or 50-65 feet) inland," Norwegian Oystein Lund Andersen wrote on Facebook. The self-described photographer and volcano enthusiast said he was taking pictures of the volcano when he suddenly saw a big wave come toward him.

"Next wave entered the hotel area where I was staying and downed cars on the road behind it," he wrote. "Managed to evacuate with my family to higher ground (through) forest paths and villages, where we are taken care of (by) the locals. Were unharmed, thankfully."

The Anak Krakatau volcano lies in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra islands, linking the Indian Ocean and Java Sea. It erupted about 24 minutes before the tsunami, the geophysics agency said.

The worst-affected area was the Pandeglang region of Java's Banten province, which encompasses Ujung Kulon National Park and popular beaches, the disaster agency said.

Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said 222 deaths had been confirmed and at least 843 people were injured. Rescue workers were still trying to access other affected areas.

Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo expressed his sympathy and ordered government agencies to respond quickly to the disaster.

"My deep condolences to the victims in Banten and Lumpung provinces," he said. "Hopefully, those who are left have patience."

And of course we have Audie Murphy, America ’s most-decorated soldier, who became a Hollywood star as a result of his US Army service that included his being awarded the Medal of Honor.

Would someone please remind me again how many of today’s Hollywood elite put their careers on hold to enlist in Iraq or Afghanistan? The only one

who even comes close was Pat Tillman, who turned down a contract offer of $36 million over three years from the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the US Army after September 11, 2001, and serve as a Ranger in Afghanistan , where he died in 2004. But rather than being lauded for his choice and his decision to put his country before his career, he was mocked and derided by many of his peers.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit to you that this is not the America today that it was seventy years ago. And I, for one, am saddened.
My generation grew up watching, being entertained by and laughing with so many of these fine people, never really knowing what they contributed to the war effort.

Like millions of Americans during the WWII, there was a job that needed doing they didn’t question, they went and did it, those that came home returned to their now new normal life and carried on, very few ever saying what they did or saw.

They took it as their “responsibility”, their “duty” to Country, to protect and preserve our freedoms and way of life, not just for themselves but for all future generations to come. As a member of a later generation, I’m forever humbly in their debt!

Please pass this on to remind people of what real men were like, not the show dogs of today’s screen.

If anyone of you fine gals and gals feel like it !

Here's my chat topic:

What the hell happened?

Oh that's just one of those WTF happened? type of thing...there's more...

It's not just men. It's also women... WTH ??

When did courtesy, gallantry, being a gentleman, being a Lady go out the window? And why?

People nowadays are so frickin' weird, I wonder if I'm on the same planet I was born onto...

I remember the 70's...perhaps that's the problem.

I remember leaving home, not locking the door.

I remember drinking beer at the park in my late teens...cops would come by and ask if we were ok...and to be careful...

I remember smoking pot at those same parks. I remember falling asleep in those parks with my male and female friends...

I remember people helping people out in the neighborhood when tragedy struck...giving shelter, food, a helping hand...

I remember listening to the best damn music that's ever been composed...

I remember people being courteous...

I remember kids respecting and honoring their parents...and their siblings...whether the be good or bad...

I remember a certain freedom that no longer exists...

I remember going out to buy a case of beer for my Dad and carry it back in my four wheel trolley...from the corner store...when I was 10 years old...

I remember Christmas parties that lasted well over New Years...with all of my uncles, aunts and cousins...

I remember being asked to be polite at all times, to say please and thank you...

I remember when men were men and women were women...even when they were gay...

I remember and that's the problem.

What in the actual fucking hell happened???

Old school perhaps.

But I also remember being so much happier.

Anyone else?

Ginsburg Voted From Hospital To Block Trump Asylum Restrictions
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 12-22-2018, 07:12 PM - Forum: Political News and more - Replies (3)

mediumfacepalm I won't say what I'm thinking right now.
I'll just let this little guy give you a hint of what's going through my mind---->   smallfit

If it helps those who feel the same way, just know that it comes from a good source that President Trump already has this old hag's resignation letter on his desk. He might be waiting until after the holidays to make the announcement; we'll just have to wait and see. But until then, looks like she's still obstructing anything President Trump tries to do to keep the American People safe!

Draining the Swamp, one rat at a time. We'll get there; hang on!

Quote:Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg voted against President Donald Trump’s proposed immigrant asylum restrictions from the hospital where she had cancer surgery Friday, according to media reports.

NBC reported that Ginsburg voted from her hospital bed. National Public Radio and Mother Jones magazine said she cast the decisive vote in the 5-4 decision against the Trump administration shortly after her surgery to remove two cancerous nodules from her lungs. The ruling blocks the Trump administration from implementing new rules prohibiting people from seeking asylum if they cross the border illegally.

By Friday night Ginsburg, 85, was sitting up in her chair and calling friends, NPR reported.

The growths were found during tests Ginsburg had after she fractured ribs in a fall in her Supreme Court office last month.
Doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York found “no evidence of any remaining disease” and scans taken before the surgery showed no cancerous growths elsewhere in her body, the court said in a statement. No additional treatment is planned.

“Ginsburg is resting comfortably and is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days,” the statement said.
Ginsburg, the court’s oldest justice, has served on the top court for 25 years. She has become something of a folk hero, an icon of liberals, and a favorite of “Saturday Night Live.”

She has been affectionately dubbed the “Notorious RBG,” a play on the name of the late rapper Notorious BIG and a homage to her strength.

“I will do this job as long as I can do it full steam,” Ginsburg said Sunday after a New York screening of “On the Basis of Sex,” a film about her years as a young lawyer.

Mars Has Ice... Lots Of Ice.

It's a bit late for Matt Damon's character in 'The Martian', but it seems a European satellite had the answer
all along. But at least we know where 'Dancing On Ice' will be filmed in the future!

The Korolev crater is an 82km-wide (50 mile) impact crater near the planet's north pole which holds 2,200 cubic kilometres of ice.

'The European Space Agency's (ESA) Mars Express satellite has sent home spectacular Christmas card images from the Red Planet.
The Korolev crater is an 82km-wide (50 mile) impact crater near the planet's north pole.
It contains an estimated 2,200 cubic kilometres of water ice, frozen up to an estimated 2km (1.2 miles) deep.

ESA's Mars Express mission launched back in 2003. It went into orbit around Mars on Christmas Day of that year, making this month the
15-year anniversary of the beginning of its science programme. The beautiful Christmas card image and two others are "an excellent
celebration of such a milestone", according to ESA.

They were taken by the Mars Express High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) and the view they offer of the Korolev crater is composed
of five different "strips" which have been combined to form a single image. Each strip was gathered over a different orbit, and the images
cover perspective, context, and topographic views, all of which ESA says offer a more complete view of the terrain in and around the crater.

The crater is named after Sergei Korolev, the chief rocket engineer and spacecraft designer, known as the father of Soviet space technology.
Mr Korolev worked on a number of well-known missions including the Sputnik programme -the first artificial satellites sent into orbit around
the Earth in 1957.

The pictures come just weeks after NASA's InSight rover successfully landed on the surface of Mars and sent back a selfie.
The spacecraft took the snap of the Red Planet using a camera fixed on its robotic arm. The rocky surface of Mars can be clearly seen with
the Insight rover in the foreground.
It had touched down after seven months and more than 300 million miles and at a cost of a billion dollars...'

  Syrian Lies

With the announcement about withdrawal form Syria and FINALLY another draw down wanted in Afghanistan you have to expect the MIC to start squealing like a stuck pig!

I honestly do not care if all the mid-east factions kill each other allowing for one supreme leader to emerge .. It narrows down the target area if it should come to another mid-east war..

One of my disappointments with Trump is he has not gotten our servicemen out of the many Sh!t holes we have been stuck in since 9/11.. 17 years and 2400 troops dead.. How many others will live the rest of their lives with wounds from Afghanistan and guarding the poppy fields ?
https://newsletter.thaivisa.com/l/jzQgFp...892MbIUx5Q

All soldiers lose friends in combat..it is war... best thing is to stay to hell out of it unless absolutely necessary and if necessary go in a roll the damn hills up to make a level killing ground. Go in, do your business and get to heck out...let the enemy cry for their losses not us.

17 years in Afghanistan is stupid..  2400 dead.... could have been stopped many years ago IMO and I am not one to cut and run.. Just one if forced to fight a war then do it and not pussyfoot around with political appointed commanders.

If you look at history the Mongols invaded and conquered Afghan, Iraq, Persia, etc etc and they did it on horse back !! So much for technology, no ?

There is no glory in war only death and survival... Those who survive are considered lucky even though they carry the burden of war memories for the rest of their lives...

I absolutely hate war and the killing of our brave and best... let the enemy die for their beliefs... our job as soldiers is to help them die or to change their minds.. youtu.be...

Four suspects have appeared in a second video where they pledge alliance to ISIS

Maren Ueland and Louisa Jespersen.

'ISIS fanatics who beheaded backpackers in Morocco yelled "these are your heads, enemy of God" in a
horrific video of the execution. Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, 24, from Denmark, and Maren Ueland, 28,
of Norway, were butchered on a hiking holiday after their suspected killers were seen lying in wait just
600 yards away.

Chilling footage circulating on social media shows a woman screaming while a man cuts her neck with
what appears to be a kitchen knife. During the video, the perpetrators cry out: "It's Allah's will" and are heard
saying: "This is revenge for our brothers in Hajine in Syria. These are your heads, enemy of God."

A separate clip published today on Twitter appeared to show four men suspected of murdering the tourists
pledging their alliance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. One of them holds a knife as they sit in front of
a black and white flag. The video has now been verified by intelligence analysts, though official authorities
are yet to comment on the footage.

What we know so far...
*Two Scandinavian tourists were killed in their tents as they camped at the
foot of Mount Toubkal in the Atlas mountains.
*French hikers discovered their butchered bodies on Monday morning.
*Cops arrested one man on Tuesday and a further three men today, who hid
weapons underneath their seats as they attempted to flee from the scene in a bus.
*Police have released shocking photos of the enormous blades in their possession.
*Danish authorities have claimed that the horrific video circulating on social media
showing the killings is genuine.
*All four suspects are said to have sworn allegiance to ISIS, and Moroccan
authorities are treating the murders as a terrorist act.
*In the unverified video, the killers link their atrocity to Western bombings in Syria.
*The murdered students were on a month-long holiday in Morocco and had just spent
a week at a hotel in Marrakech.
*A second video published on Twitter on Thursday claims to show the four suspects
pledging their alliance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The video appeared hours after the three men were arrested while fleeing by bus and hiding massive sword-like
weapons under their seats. A police spokesman said the men sat right at the back of the bus when six police
officers boarded and seized the men and "four knives".

In a video circulating on Twitter today, the four suspects appear to claim responsibility for the attack.

Wearing hoods and black jackets, the men reportedly offered "no resistance", vg.no reports.
Their arrest comes more than three days after French hikers found the victims dead at their camp around six
miles from the village of Imlil.

Today's arrests came after police seized their first suspect on Tuesday after he left his ID in a tent close to the
scene. The brutes had beheaded one women while the second had sustained a serious throat wound.
All four men have sworn allegiance to ISIS, according to a source quoted in Norwegian newspaper vg.no.

Moroccan authorities earlier announced they were treating the murders as acts of terror, as the Rabat public
prosecutor's office confirmed that at least one of the group is affiliated to a terrorist group...'

  Colleges de-stress students
Posted by: guohua - 12-20-2018, 08:02 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (2)

Our Generation of Spoiled Snowflakes need to be De-Stressed because of their Final Exams.

I have a word or two for you Snivelling, Winning Little Panzeies, Grow The Fuck-Up! Life is Hard and that Dream Job is Not Going To be Handed To YOU!
What these spoiled children call "Stress" the rest of working America calls "Life". Get used to it Snowflakes. You don't know the half of it yet.
The Millennial Mantra: "I'm offended therefore I insist you take care of me and hand me what I demand!" They expect that we MUST be tolerant of THEM so they don't have to tolerate US!!

Quote:Colleges de-stress students for finals: therapy horses, coloring, massages, Fortnite tourneys
Yes the Poor Little Babies need their Bottle and Teddy Bear.

Quote:Therapy dogs and miniature horses. Coloring books. Massages. Even Fortnite tournaments.

All this and more are ways in which universities across the nation are working to help students de-stress as finals unfold, hosting a plethora of interesting activities or all out “De-stress Fests.”

One of the most common services provided come in the form of therapy dogs, specifically trained to be as calm and affectionate as possible. Campuses such as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Michigan State are just two out of many that recently offered the friendly puppers to pet and relax with in between study sessions.

Duke University went one step further. On top of bringing in puppies, the school offered what it called a “Stampede of Love” — miniature horses.
Students were invited on the Friday before Finals Week to partake in an event led by a Raleigh-based nonprofit, staffed by two of their tiny horses, named “Kiwi” and “Lola.”

2014 Journalist Of The Year From CNN Resigns After Admitting To Falsifying Stories
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 12-20-2018, 05:37 PM - Forum: Hot Button Issues - Replies (1)

Is "fake news" a hot button issue?  It should be because it is the most dangerous thing to the public out there, thus why I place this thread in the "hot button issues" forum.

This could have gone in the Propaganda Watch thread, but I want it out here where people will see this when they scan over the threads. It's very important to show the people of the world how reporters lie in order to control the narrative.

Here we have a reporter rewarded by CNN coming forward to tell how he lied in his news articles, and then won Reporter of The Year.

Imagine my shock to see this from CNN! Surely not!   tinywhat

Quote:A reporter at the German news magazine Der Spiegel — who won CNN’s Journalist of the Year Award in 2014 — resigned on Wednesday after admitted to making up stories.

Claas Relotius “falsified articles on a grand scale and even invented characters,” Der Spiegel admitted in a statement.

It went on, “He included individuals in his stories who he had never met or spoken to, telling their stories or quoting them. Instead, he would reveal, he based the depictions on other media or video recordings.” (RELATED: The List Of CNN’s Bungled Reporting Is A Sight To Behold)

They also acknowledged that the fraud was discovered when Relotius worked alongside another reporter, Juan Moreno, in November. Moreno was suspicious following a story they co-bylined about a vigilante group that patrols the Mexican-U.S. border. Moreno proceeded to report his concerns to Der Spiegel and went to report on another story with Relotius to see if he could find out more information.

Since 2011, Relotius published just under 60 articles and by his own admission 14 of them “are at least in part fabrications,” their statement included.

He was awarded CNN Journalist of the Year for the story “Murderers as Carers.” The story centered on the U.S. prison system’s inability to provide care for long-term inmates suffering from dementia.

“The report takes a poetic and interesting approach to a major social problem. Claas Relotius paints pictures in the reader’s mind that unfold like a film,’ said Franz Fischlin, chairman of the judging panel, according to a CNN recap of their award ceremony.

Sounds exactly like the sort of reporter CNN would reward, right?   tinysure
