How food stamps/Medicaid/child care subsidies work
Posted by: ChiefD - 07-12-2020, 02:28 AM - Forum: Hot Button Issues - Replies (10)

I originally posted this on ATS in 2015 when I was still working. I worked for my county human services department in the economic support division when I posted this. I have since retired from that position in 2019. I still believe this information still holds true to this day. I don’t like what I see about people being criminalized for being poor or receiving benefits. Now that I’ve applied for Medicaid on behalf of my husband who is in a nursing home, I’m really feeling how important these benefits are. The rack rate at the nursing home my husband is in is $300/day. Do the math. I don’t have that kind of money sitting around, and I’m grateful Medicaid is able to pick up most of the tab for my husband’s care.

Hi everyone. I decided to post this thread after seeing a number of threads bashing and slamming those receiving food stamps, Medicaid, and child care subsidies.

I imagine more than a few of you are receiving benefits of this sort. I work at my county human services department, in economic support. I see people come in on a daily basis to apply for benefits, so I have insight on how it works.

I want to clear up some misconceptions. First, if a person is undocumented, they cannot receive food stamps, Medicaid, or child care. I have seen several posts by people saying they can. That is not true. Second, these benefits are not handed out like candy. People are required to turn in many verifications, and they have a narrow timeframe in which to turn them in.

If they turn in the verifications in a timely manner, and they are within the income/ household composition criteria, they will receive benefits. Every six months, they must re verify their situation and turn in more verifications in order to keep their benefits. If they do not, their benefits will end. For food stamps, you get a card. You use it like a debit card. You cannot buy alcohol or cigarettes with an EBT card.

One cannot simply stroll in, say they have 19 kids, and we hand them cash. It doesn't work that way. The process can seem humiliating, and that is because the few bad apples that commit fraud ruin it and make it all the harder for everyone.

I see people from all walks of life come into my office. Guess what? They are people, not animals. They have hopes and dreams. They have good and bad in their life, like the rest of us. The great majority are good people in a bad way, either by a couple of poor decisions or life circumstances. Of course, we only hear the horror stories in the news because if it bleeds, it leads.

I'm pissed and tired of hearing all this bashing of people because they are poor! If I had a dollar for everyone who told me they were ashamed to even be there, I would have been able to retire long ago to a beach in Tahiti.

I wish everyone would have more compassion for poor people. I remember something one of my former bosses said to me shortly before I started working at human services - most of us are 2-3 pay checks away from being on the other side of my counter, applying for benefits. Most us us would be well to heed that.

I hope my thread educates those who read it.

Thumbs Up Trump Tells Minnesota Governor to Go Jump In a Lake
Posted by: xuenchen - 07-11-2020, 11:44 PM - Forum: Political News and more - Replies (3)

Looks like the Federal government has indeed refused some "disaster" relief for Minnesota !

Apparently they wanted money to rebuild after "allowing" the massive rioting and destruction.

Oh well. Maybe think better before trying to con somebody.

Democrats will have fun with this one won't they.

Quote:Some weeks ago, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota made a request for federal disaster relief after hundreds of millions of dollars in destruction occurred in Minneapolis. That damage came at the hands of rioting and looting in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.

Those cities burned because Walz and the local leadership refused to stop the carnage, even as people were injured and killed in the chaos. The President had urged Minnesota to deploy troops early on, something that wouldn’t happen until later, after the damage was already done. Instead of accepting Trump’s offering of active duty troops, Walz refused while Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey trashed the President’s urging to get tough and stop the anarchy.

Now, these two figures want taxpayers from other states to help pay for their political cowardice and Trump has given them an answer that I’ll summarize – Go jump in a lake.

Lightbulb Trump confirms he OK’d US cyberattack against Russia in 2018
Posted by: xuenchen - 07-11-2020, 06:37 PM - Forum: Political News and more - Replies (4)

According to the Washington Post (careful), Trump gave the "go ahead" for an operation against a Russian troll farm that was interfering in the 2018 election !

Trump said "we stopped it" (meaning the Russian trolls).

This story isn't getting much MSM coverage (understandably because it wrecks the Democrat BS story about Trump being in Putin's pocket).

This is the same Russian outfit that was raising Hell in 2016, even though to this day, nobody has offered any real evidence about how many votes were "influenced".

Bet this Troll Farm was really helping Democrats all along and now Trump has punched it down !!

Obama knew about these Russians and did zer0, which makes the case for the Trolls being symPATHETIC to Democrats !! tinylaughing

Quote:President Trump acknowledged this week that in 2018 he authorized a covert U.S. cyberattack against a Russian “troll farm,” according to a report.

The attack targeted Russia’s Internet Research Agency, the St. Petersburg organization that led Russian efforts to disrupt the 2016 U.S. presidential election and was repeating its efforts ahead of the 2018 midterm elections, The Washington Post reported.

In an interview with Post columnist Marc A. Thiessen, Trump said he OK’d the U.S. operation after receiving an intelligence report about Russia’s activities.

“Look, we stopped it,” the president said, contrasting his action with what he claimed was former President Barack Obama’s reluctance to take action in 2016.

According to Thiessen, Trump claimed Obama “said nothing” about Russian interference that year because he thought Hillary Clinton was going to win the race for the White House against Trump.

  Random thoughts
Posted by: Antar - 07-11-2020, 06:32 PM - Forum: Daily Chit Chat - Replies (5)

Ok just some random thoughts on masks and general population home detentions.

It occurred to me that had Hillary won the elections, and had her coziness with the Muslum Brotherhood and Islamic traditions, CPC, been the life we live without restraint, without exception, would we have been made to wear burkas so as not to offend Islam?

Are masks just a sample of that possibility in a Democratic Socialist future for America? Are masks a control feature that attempts to emasculate men and cover those offensive mouths that speak dirty words, not in alignment with others traditions?  Is it offensive to other traditions to see women walk down the streets with full face openness like a naked lady at Monks retreat?

After reading about the Democrats Ideas for America in a post-Trump Presidency, the home lockdowns also begin to make me wonder if the New Ab-Normal and in home imprisonment live training exercises are going to be the playbook for forcing civilians into their homes without question or debate, while the Future Infrastructure is created and put into place?

These tactics by over-controlling Communist minded rulers are not anything new or normal. It takes time and the timelines seem to be colliding for the America we have always known.  I was searching for some validation on my thoughts and how common civilian lockdowns are and found and interesting article you may want to skim.

Well, that is it for now and I thank you for taking time to read my random thoughts...

Chinese Virologist Flees Hong Kong, Accuses Beijing Of COVID-19 Cover-Up

A highly respected Chinese virologist has fled Hong Kong and says that the Chinese government knew about COVID-19 long before they claim they did, and that her supervisors - some of the top experts in the field - ignored research she was conducting at the onset of the pandemic which she says could have saved lives, according to an exclusive interview with Fox News.
Dr. Li-Meng Yan, who specialized in virology and immunology at the Hong Kong School of Public Health, fled Hong Kong on April 28 on a Cathay Pacific flight to the United States, knowing that if she were caught she could be jailed or "disappeared."
Quote:She adds that they likely had an obligation to tell the world, given their status as a World Health Organization reference laboratory specializing in influenza viruses and pandemics, especially as the virus began spreading in the early days of 2020.
Yan, now in hiding, claims the government in the country where she was born is trying to shred her reputation and accuses government goons of choreographing a cyber-attack against her in hopes of keeping her quiet.
Yan believes her life is in danger. She fears she can never go back to her home and lives with the hard truth that she’ll likely never see her friends or family there again.
Still, she says, the risk is worth it. -Fox News

"The reason I came to the U.S. is because I deliver the message of the truth of COVID," Yan told Fox from an undisclosed location.
Yan says she was one of the first scientists in the world to study COVID-19 (aside from Wuhan researchers, perhaps) after he supervisor, Dr. Leo Poon, asked her to look into "the odd cluster of SARS-like cases coming out of mainland China at the end of December 2019," according to the report.
"The China government refused to let overseas experts, including ones in Hong Kong, do research in China," she said. "So I turned to my friends to get more information."
Yan's mainland colleagues - one of whom worked at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, allegedly told Yan on December 31 that the virus was transmissible between humans long before the CCP or the WHO reversed course and admitted this was possible. After she told her boss of this, "he just nodded," she says.
Days after her CCP contacts told her about human-to-human transmission, the WHO put out a statement on January 9 saying: "According to Chinese authorities, the virus in question can cause severe illness in some patients and does not transmit readily between people... There is limited information to determine the overall risk of this reported cluster."

The cover-up.
Yan said that discussion between colleagues in China about the disease took a sharp turn after "doctors and researchers who had been openly discussing the virus suddenly clammed up." Contacts in Wuhan went completely dark and others warned not to ask them about the virus - telling Yan "We can't talk about it, but we need to wear masks."
"There are many, many patients who don't get treatment on time and diagnosis on time," said Yan, adding "Hospital doctors are scared, but they cannot talk. CDC staff are scared."
Quote:She said she reported her findings to her supervisor again on Jan. 16 but that's when he allegedly told her "to keep silent, and be careful."
"As he warned me before, 'Don't touch the red line,'" Yan said referring to the government. "We will get in trouble and we'll be disappeared."
She also claims the co-director of a WHO-affiliated lab, Professor Malik Peiris, knew but didn't do anything about it.
Peiris also did not respond to requests for comment. The WHO website lists Peiris as an "adviser" on the WHO International Health Regulations Emergency Committee for Pneumonia due to the Novel Coronavirus 2019-nCoV.
Yan was frustrated, but not surprised -Fox News
"I already know that would happen because I know the corruption among this kind of international organization like the WHO to China government, and to China Communist Party," said Yan. "So basically... I accept it but I don't want this misleading information to spread to the world."

WHO denies that Professor Malik Peiris directly works for the organization, telling Fox in a statement "Professor Malik Peiris is an infectious disease expert who has been on WHO missions and expert groups - as are many people eminent in their fields," adding "That does not make him a WHO staff member, nor does he represent WHO."
Read the rest of the report here.
Meanwhile, a local Beijing resident says the CCP is covering up new virus cases in a local neighborhood, according to the Epoch Times:
Quote:Two people who live in the Liuyi residential compound, located in the city’s Daxing district, were recently found to be infected with the CCP virus, according to a resident named Ms. Li, who is familiar with local virus outbreak information.
The entire compound, which is home to roughly 1,000 residents, was locked down after the new cases were discovered, on July 4; only one small gate remains open for grocery deliveries, she said.
However, the Beijing municipal health commission hasn’t reported any confirmed patients from the Liuyi compound in recent days.
Li shared with The Epoch Times a government list of local businesses and residential complexes that were mandated to conduct systematic disinfection and nucleic acid testing, including a total of 43 locations in Beijing.
However, under the Daxing district category on the list, the Liuyi residential compound was missing, which Li believes is because Beijing authorities purposely sought to conceal the new infections. -Epoch Times
Why would China go to such great lengths to cover up a naturally occurring outbreak of an ultra-virulent coronavirus that they insist wasn't created in one of their labs?

What do Wayfair, Amazon, Walmart, and Others Have in Common?
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 07-11-2020, 05:06 AM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (61)

Wayfair was trending today on Twitter. I noticed some very strange posts, so I took a closer look.
It appears that some of these big companies are using store items as a way to sell children. Walmart, Amazon, E-bay, and many others are doing the same thing.

How, you ask?

Let's use this file cabinet as an example. When you put in the SKU # in a google search it takes you to a page showing young girls.
Each "item" is sold at an outrageous price!

Notice the number is the same:

The items usually have the name of the child included in it.

Take a look inside this article to see how they do it.

White Hat went over this in part of his show tonight. Listen as he shows the items and how they operate.

Start at the 50:25 mark.

I'll share more tomorrow. This is enough to get you started.
