The CCP shipped about $130K worth of parts that would convert 10,000 AR-15s and AKs into fully automatic weapons.

This is the same type of destabilization technique used to create havoc in countries all over the world.  Supply enough people with the equipment to foment anarchy ... and that's the crop you'll be serving for dinner.  In what month does the Harvest Moon rise?

****

I do a lot of shopping on-line related to my shooting hobby.  If you think the shelves ran bare of toilet paper and that was remarkable, consider that you're unable to buy a multi-thousand dollar press (a bullet maker) without an 8 week delay (due to backorders).  When I get going full-swing on my older model, I can fabricate a good 600 rounds every hour and I go 5 hours on any given type of round.  I'm slow though.  Some people can get upwards of a thousand rounds/hr.

To me, it is unbelievable there are all of a sudden that many gun enthusiasts who've just taken up the hobby of making their own ammunition.  But ... you can't buy any kind of common pre-made ammunition ... so, maybe that's it.  I can't buy two kegs of powder (limit one per household ATM).  And I'm having no luck buying bullets (the little piece that flies through the air) in bulk quantities.  Fortunately, short the powder, I am fairly well stocked.
Plain weird that a country like the USA is suddenly out of guns and ammo to purchase.  Did the average Joes really get that spooked, or is someone arming invisible armies?

Cheers
The CCP aspect: Does not surprise me. It's actually a very cheap way cause a lot of havoc. $130,000 on the world stage for weapons is peanuts. Individual missiles cost more.

The reloading shortages: With all the new gun buyers out there, they are buying ammo too. Unfortunately they have no clue what something "should" cost. I was reading Magtech and Remington (among other manufacturers) are not going to increase productivity currently. They are at three shifts a day. The military and government contracts are not going away. That is where most if not all the supply is going.

Not to mention hits to the economy elsewhere. Companies producing materials needed to make the reloading components are having a hard go if it. This just adds to the problems.

One thing I learned too late is shooting is not a cheap hobby  tinylaughing

Well ... my brother was finally able to buy an AR-15 just last week.  I was showing him the ropes of making timely purchases at fetching prices.  Lots of surprises there too.

Couldn't buy the sling I set my own ARs up with.  Optics are unavailable.  Hearing protection ... out of stock.  Cleaning kits not on the shelf.  Over and over and over again.

I think we had a shopping list that sat at about $1,200 bucks and he was able to get only less than $200 of it into his shopping cart.

Between the seeds they sent which could be their attempt at ecological warfare, and this I am not convinced that BLM and Antifa are Chinese creations.

The local controllers, of course, are the democrats in congress and rioting city politicians.

Can't wait for the traitor purge.

LOL ... worse when you're a cheap bastard like me.  I turned down the 8lb keg of powder I could buy to avoid doubling up on my HAZMAT fees.  I go through two kegs (~$400) on one of my loading cycles.  There's a hole on my shelf now I'm not comfortable with.

I'd like to know what the pre-cursor for that event is.  My personal accounts are burning up with 'talk'.  Everyone's waiting to see what happens with the elections.  There best not be any shenanigans.  'Cause that's the spark I think that'll light the fuel.

How does one 'starve' an armed citizenry?

Screw with their supply of ammunition and parts.  Logistics is always the tail that wags the dog.

i think that ever since the michael brown / fergusion missouri, 2016 elections, and all the other little things like walmart not selling certian calibers, DHS buying up all the ammo, and as you say more people buying weapons and if they can't get the rounds in the store, you got to do something.

plus if you go to the gun dealer sites, you see limits put on lots of high demand caliber ammo, and on weapons. then you got your gun broker sites where individuals think their sitting on a gold mine and want outrageous prices for cheap bullshit ammo and weapons that in the past you could buy five for what they are selling one for now.

kinda like old rusty muscle cars, people want thousands of dollars for ones you can see the road through the floor boards. and some dumb asses some are actually pay what their asking instead of waiting or searching for a better deal.

over time it's just got to this point. and i do believe it's only gonna get worse.

It boggles the mind that you can't buy a top-of-the-line Dillon Progressive without waiting at least a couple months.  Longer if you want a set of carbide dies to go along with it.

I think gun sales have crested the 20M mark now since March.

DHS got what ... about 2B rounds back in 2013??  I'd love to know where those are stored ATM.  LOL

I'm just not seeing it add up is all.  I can't believe I can't get my normal 500 hunting bullets.  My typical lot of 6K 5.56 55gr FMJs??  I'm gonna have to stop shooting and hang on to what I've got if things stay the same.  Add to that all the gun shows shutting down due to COVID-19.

I think it's both.

Lots of Joes are spooked, and that is playing itself out in panic purchases of firearms and ammo that they have no idea how to use. Many are first time gun buyers, and former anti-gun advocates. My, THOSE tables sure turned on them!

The equivalent of private armies are also arming up and brushing up on their training. There is trouble in the wind, and if anyone gets hurt, no one wants to be the LAST one hurt! The conversion parts seized are an indicator of the arming-up... and, if you'll recall, when that private enclave in Seattle was up and running, there was video of the warlord of it handing out AR-15's from his trunk. Those guns came from somewhere, and they ain't cheap, so someone is bankrolling it and running supply.

Years ago, I had an uncle make the flat out statement to me that "there were enough arms and ammunition in private hidden stocks in NC to outfit a few small armies". He wasn't wrong. When I was in Greensboro, the GPD dug up an entire buried school bus filled with arms and ammo on a tip. They kept it quiet, so as not to engender a panic, but I know for fact that it happened, and never hit the news.

There is more warlike shit out there hidden away than you could possibly conceive of, and more is getting smuggled in every day.

I just got another cleaning kit for my AR on Amazon. It's not GI, but a lot like one, with the 3 snap carrying pouch and the takedown cleaning rod with the toggled handle, plus stuff that doesn't come standard, like a Bore Snake and a bag of long-handled Q-tips. It ran about 17 bucks when it should have been 13 or 14, but the shipping was a killer, and the whole kaboodle ran about 25 bucks.

Sure, I have other cleaning kits, but they aren't portable, and I think portability is soon going to be a key component.

Only thing left for me to get for it now are an accuwedge and a bayonet adapter - you know, in case I get assaulted by a wave attack of groundhogs and have to go all hand-to-hand on their asses!

I also picked up another medical trauma kit and some blood-stop to throw into my bugout bag. I don't think many of the first-timers have considered how easy it is to get shot in a shooting war...

Glad I got my optics and laser and got them set up long ago, right after I got the rifle. I just have a standard sling on it, mounted to the existing swivels, nothing fancy like a single-point or anything like that.

I'd agree.  Humped a whole bunch of stuff up the mountain ... where nobody else would want to go.  It'll be just fine there and I can make my way up to it a lot easier than I could carry it up there with someone chasing me.

One of those kits that got carried up to the cache site.  It takes a lot of effort to understand how to use the components.  Best thing you can do ... is make friends with a medic, a nurse, and a doc (in that order). -grin

A firm believer in: 'use what you got ... and don't try to copy me'  I run a two-point sling with clothespin type clips.  I can transition back and forth from a very comfortable two-point patrol configuration to a single-point assault configuration in just a couple of seconds ... and it allows me to shoot left or right handed on the fly.  You've gotta buy even more gear to hook it onto your rifle, but once you get past the stoopid costs, you're probably not going to look at other options unless you're a QD fanboy.

Turma kit, I have all sizes of Tampons.pad and super glue, straight and size 1 & 2 curved needles and monofilament, fluorocarbon fishing line and white cotton for thread.

Of Course a stainless steel and chrome probe for shrapnel.

I've still got some of the old compression bandages like you used to carry around in a pouch in your shoulder on the old ALICE LBE, but I don't know if they are still good or not, being so old. The seal is still good on them.

I've also been known to use a kotex and a bandanna to tie it onto the wound in a pinch. Some times, ya just gotta improvise!

I've also thrown my own stitches with a straight sewing needle and black sewing thread off a spool. T'wasn't easy - had to pinch the edges of the wound together and raise them to get the straight needle through, and that didn't tickle at all.

I received a bulk purchase today.  Wasn't what I was after, but the numbers were all good, and I can make these work just fine.

Never had to wait that long before ... and 48.75lbs of copper & lead never felt lighter.

Could easily be both
I know this much...............Cheaper Than DIrt needs to change their name. That shit doubled in price almost. Oh and try to find some wood products. Those prices are going up. I bought a half-inch 4x8 sheet of plywood one week and two weeks later the same piece went up 6 dollars. Crazy man !!
