Hey Everyone,


Please help me Welcome @"Ahabstar"  and @"DuckforcoveR"  to this new Rogue Game.


Rules: One question at a time, three questions total, per players.


Ahabstar gets to ask the first question.


Who will find the lie?


As the Narrator, here are my three claims; two of which are truthful and one of which is an outlandish lie.



1 - I had emergency surgery, died on the table, was brought back, put in an induced coma for three weeks in ICU and survived. Doctors didn't think I'd make it.

2 - I had a chat with Actor Michael Douglas in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada.

3 - I was a semi professional illusionist (like David Copperfield) for seven straight years and have appeared on TV.



Once Ahabstar has asked his first question and I've answered truthfully, DuckforcoveR gets to ask his first question, then Ahabstar may ask his second question and so on until both have asked their three questions.

When the three questions from the players have been asked and answered, the players get to give their choice of which claim is the lie, 1, 2, or 3.

Whoever finds the lie becomes the Narrator for the next game.

Whoever loses must wait one turn before he can request another participation as a player.

Ahabstar, being the first player that came forward, has he advantage of choosing from claims 1, 2, or 3. DuckforcoveR may NOT choose the same choice as Ahabstar, thus giving Ahabstar a clear advantage.

That is a hint for the next game; the first to give his name as a player gets the same advantage.


Members may participate but the Narrator may ignore their questions if desired. The Narrator has an obligation to answer truthfully to the players.

The illusion that I did on stage that had the most effect was as follows:

Metamorphose (metamorphosis in French)

Balls were thrown in the audience and thrown around again a few times to get random people. 6 to be exact. They would come on stage.

I was handcuffed and helped inside a pretty big wooden box that had been rightfully scrutinized by those people chosen randomly to prove that there were no traps to get in or out.

The box was then padlocked with a lock and chains all around, which were also verified by the people on stage to prove that they were legit.

My assistant (pretty lady) would then get on top of the box, standing up as she raised a curtain on a rounded rail (which encompassed myself and the box). Midway - to her waste.

She then asked the randomly chosen people to hold their hands and make a circle around the box so that she could be seen from all sides. And to ensure that no one gets in or out of that circle.

She would then quickly raise the curtain over her head and then she'd let the curtain fall in a fraction of a second. And here I was, standing on top of the box. Handcuffs gone.

I then asked those people that had the keys to unlock all the locks, take away the chains, unlock the box and open it.

My assistant would get out of the box, handcuffed. I remember the people on stage and the faces they made :)

It had a nice feel to it as the transition was extremely fast. Copperfield came out with a way better version as him and his assistant did the metamorphosis from a 6 feet distance.

I don't know how long I was in surgery and strangely, I never asked. They put me in an induced coma after surgery for three weeks, in ICU. I remember coming in and out of it though, here and there, for like fractions of a second. I remember hearing them say (nurses I think) that my temperature was way too high..

I remember waking up, on a ventilator and I freaked out. The machine was breathing for me but I was trying to breathe by myself and that sounded all the alarms, and to be honest, I thought I was gonna die, chocking. I remember my older brother being there, telling me to stay calm before they took him out of the room. Went back under, don't know for how long and when I woke up again, no ventilator.

My girlfriend (which would become my wife) was there that time, looking at me, white as a sheet. She was smiling and telling me that I'd be fine but I could see the worry in her face.

I stayed in the hospital for another three weeks before being sent home. The two surgeons working my case told me they didn't think I'd make it.

My better half and I were sitting down at a table near the bar at a place called Le Shack, (it's a restaurant - bar) in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, waiting for our munchies and drinks as he walked in the side door and walked along the wall towards the bar, not to be seen by too many people I would believe.

I remember telling Louise "hmmm...this guy looks damn familiar" or something along those lines.

The thing about Le Shack is that there is this huge tree where they built the bar against. He came and sat right beside the tree - again, perfect spot not to be seen too much - , but that put him in arms length of where we were sitting.

The rest is history...

No clue. I never asked. I do know this, the stuff they gave me when I came around - without the ventilator - was strong as hell, for the pain. Demerol, if I remember correctly. I kept hallucinating with that stuff, mainly seeing spiders everywhere and kept telling everyone just how filthy that hospital was lol.

I only found out that my heart had stopped under surgery after I was more lucid. I never asked for how long either.

All I know is that I don't remember seeing a Heaven or a Hell for that matter.

Had me questioning life and death for a very long time. And God.

A pneumothorax, or in the more common language, a collapsed lung.

When I got to the hospital, they took x-rays and noticed that I had black spots on my right lung - by that time, breathing was becoming extremely difficult. So they took a biopsy and we had to wait for results. That night, the results came in and it was dried blood, so I had a collapsed lung that bled, for some reason. Better news than cancer though.

The next morning, I only had a juice for breakfast and then abruptly started vomiting that juice...and blood. Thank goodness the surgeon was on site, so they brought me to the emergency surgery. Apparently, an artery had ruptured, near the lung. It probably was already damaged from the collapsed lung thus the dried blood found on the x-rays.

A collapsed lung is common and is just like a flat tire. They insert tubes, blow it back up and you're good to go. Mine just took a different turn. The surgeon told me that the combination of events would have killed me, had I not been in the hospital, and that people had more chances of winning the lottery that getting something going wrong like this off of a simple collapsed lung.

It was a local TV station here in Montreal. They were launching a new show and wanted to kick it off with a bit of magic here and there. I did that gig for free, as I wanted to have the exposure. Kinda paid off :)

I've done shows for corporations, close up magic for corporations, charity shows for school fundraisers and hospitals.

I've also done illusions as part of other performer shows.

Had my name in the paper a few times too.

At the end, before I stopped, I was commanding $800 CND for a 45 minutes gig.

If you take into account that this was almost 30 years ago...it wasn't bad :)

Just so I'm clear, one of the 3 was a lie but your answers were truthful? Or PARTS of one of the 3 were a lie but the answers were truthful?

I am going to call number 3. Metamorphosis is an old standard best known as being Houdini’s bread and butter as he had dozens of variations over the years. And while many, many acts still include it. It lacks the amazement and pizazz that close up illusionists ultilize in their acts.

And so @"Ahabstar" has chosen claim #3 to be the lie.
