A female college student at University of North Carolina kept finding that her clothes and other things were missing to the point she thought her apartment was haunted.  Come to find out, there was a 30 year old man living in her closet.

Quote:A female student who attends the University of North Carolina at Greensboro was terrified when she believed a ghost was in her off-campus apartment. The faux-poltergeist, however, turned out to be a man who was hiding in her closet — where he helped himself to her clothes.

“I’ve been having pieces of clothes [go] missing. Like shirts and pants,” Maddie, a junior, told Fox 8. She and her roommate also found handprints on the bathroom wall and mirror.
On Saturday, they learned the terrifying truth.

“I just hear rattling in my closet. It sounded like a raccoon in my closet,” Maddie told the outlet. “I’m like, Who’s there? And somebody answers me. He’s like, ‘Oh, my name is Drew.’ I open the door and he’s in there, wearing all of my clothes. My socks. My shoes. And he has a book bag full of my clothes.”

After calling her boyfriend, Maddie waited for help and talked to the man, identified as 30-year-old Andrew Swofford, to distract him.

“He tries on my hat. He goes in the bathroom and looks in the mirror and then is like, ‘You’re really pretty. Can I give you a hug?’” Maddie said. “But he never touched me.”

The women do not know how the man entered the residence. They keep their doors locked, and did not notice any damage.

This is not the first time the two women discovered men inside their home. On December 19, 2018, two men were found inside their living room, at which point they alerted the leasing office at the Summit at the Edge Apartments. An employee confirmed to Fox 8 that they changed the locks to the apartment, but a police report was not filed.

The property management company, Burkely Communities, is going through the details in an attempt to find out how this happened. However, the roommates are planning to leave their apartment after the incident.

“Last night I did not feel safe [so] I slept with my roommate in her bed,” Maddie said. “I can’t stay here. My closet, it stinks. Every time I go in [my room], there’s a bad vibe. I’m just ready to leave.”

Swofford was jailed in Guilford County under a $26,000 bond. He faces 14 felony charges, including larceny and identity theft.

Sounds like someone better start looking for that trap door or underground tunnel entrance.

What an odd story.   tinysurprised
If he'd just left some lodging money near the mirror in the bathroom, I'm sure the girls
would've let him stay there.

Some people keep pets and others store their favourite toys of their youth in closets.
These gals missed an opportunity to gain a hobby.

That is the exact university I studies Physics at. I know the apartments they are talking about, although they were not present there when I was. They built them on Spring Street, and have had nothing but trouble out of them. It used to be drugs and "gangstas", now, apparently, closet pets.

Those apartments are the only place I ever refused to work when I was an armed guard - not because they are particularly dangerous (they're not, compared to some of the places I worked in Greensboro) - but rather because I thought those kids needed to get a clue and learn to fend for themselves. Having gone to school there at a more advanced age than all of them, I knew just how badly they needed to learn how to cope with the real world, and I couldn't do it for them. Those apartments are, as I recall, technically "off campus", but I think the Campus Police still have jurisdiction there.

Lots of strange stuff happening there, especially on Tate Street on the other side of campus, so this really doesn't surprise me.
