[b]John Wayne. Declared "4F medically unfit" due to pre-existing injuries, he nonetheless attempted to volunteer three times (Army, Navy and Film Corps.[/b]
so he gets honorable mention.


[b]And of course we have Audie Murphy, America ’s most-decorated soldier, who became a Hollywood star as a result of his US Army service that included his being awarded the Medal of Honor.
  
Would someone please remind me again how many of today’s Hollywood elite put their careers on hold to enlist in Iraq or Afghanistan? The only one[/b]
who even comes close was Pat Tillman, who turned down a contract offer of $36 million over three years from the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the US Army after September 11, 2001, and serve as a Ranger in Afghanistan , where he died in 2004. But rather than being lauded for his choice and his decision to put his country before his career, he was mocked and derided by many of his peers.

[b]Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit to you that this is not the America today that it was seventy years ago. And I, for one, am saddened. My generation grew up watching, being entertained by and laughing with so many of these fine people, never really knowing what they contributed to the war effort.[/b]
 
Like millions of Americans during the WWII, there was a job that needed doing they didn’t question, they went and did it, those that came home returned to their now new normal life and carried on, very few ever saying what they did or saw.

They took it as their “responsibility”, their “duty” to Country, to protect and preserve our freedoms and way of life, not just for themselves but for all future generations to come. As a member of a later generation, I’m forever humbly in their debt![/b]
 
 
Please pass this on to remind people of what real men were like, not the show dogs of today’s screen.

Fine men -all with their own failings, but believed in an idea of national pride and patriotism, a notion hated
by those who enjoy the affluence of the current Hollywood.

Today, that war that they fought has been trampled upon in the name of a perverse, egotistical doctrine
that's invaded the country they held dear. Men are held in regard if they are weak and effeminate, women
are imagined as Amazonian until reality arrives and children are just sponges that are used to advance this
decline.

When they come... and they will, where will those same decadent and feeble folk look to then?

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal

There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.

its for me the most powerful anti war poem ever written. if you remember it was written back at the time of WW1 and how it still speaks to us to day, and it will still be as powerful as ever in the next 100 years
