Witnesses say a man dressed in black fired up to 20 shots outside a restaurant, killing one woman
and injuring at least 13 others.

'One woman has died and at least 13 others, including a child, were injured after being shot outside
a restaurant in the Canadian city of Toronto.

The shooting happened just after 10pm Sunday, local time, when police were called to reports of shots
being fired in the Greektown area. Witnesses told the Toronto Star a man dressed in black had fired a
gun multiple times, some estimating that he fired up to 20 shots.

Police said that a young girl is among the 14 people shot. She is said to be critically injured.
They also confirmed the gunman is dead.

Video emerged soon after appearing to show the gunman, dressed in black, walking along the street
before stopping and aiming his weapon directly into a shop or restaurant.
Global News quoted an unnamed source as saying that the gunman had shot at police before shooting
himself but this has not been confirmed by police.

The injured have been taken to various hospitals and an unconfirmed number of people are being treated
at the scene. Several blocks have been cordoned off.

Toronto police chief Mark Saunders said: "Now we have other than the shooter we have a young lady that
is deceased right now and we have a young girl I believe eight or nine years old that is in critical.
"We are looking at all possible motives... and not closing any doors."

Toronto councillor Paula Fletcher said the gunman was "disturbed" and the shooting was not gang related.
Jody Steinhauer told CBC News she was at a restaurant with her family when she heard what sounded like
10 to 15 blasts of firecrackers.

She said she was told to run to the back of the restaurant, adding: "We started to hear people scream out front."
Another witness, who was identified as Katie, was returning from dinner with friends and driving when she saw
the shooter firing what appeared to be a handgun.

"We heard a loud bang and I just looked to my left and I saw a guy in a black hoodie,
just standing there, pointing at one of the storefront windows and the glass was just
shattered," she told the Toronto Sun.

Toronto Mayor John Tory said: "We were so use to living in a city where these things didn't happen.
"But there are things that happen nowadays and they are just unspeakable.

"Guns are too readily available to too many people."

Ontario premier Doug Ford said on Twitter: "My heart goes out to the victims and loved ones of the horrific
act of gun violence in Toronto. "Thank you to all the first responders for acting quickly to help everyone affected."
The shooting comes as Toronto police increased their numbers in the city to tackle a recent increase in recent
gun violence...'

"He was firing multiple shots, we heard eight, if not more."

They say that is wasn't gang related but I have a rough time believing that.

After the Scarborough playground shooting, after rapper Smoke Dawg was gunned down, it seems like it's up to par with the latest gun violence uprising.

Toronto is turning into a little Chicago... :(

Hmmmmm wonder how she got the medical info so fast to know that the gun man was "disturbed". Or is it the same code as used in Europe ??
Or as they say in Sweden when things like this happen.
"It was just a friendly exchange between multicultural cultures, and should be seen as enriching our lives"

It is the agreed 'code' of the MSM that radical behavior is now the action of a mentally-vulnerable person
and not someone who believes in a doctrine that involves virgins in heaven waiting on your every need
or acquiring materialistic wealth.

Greeks are deemed 'different' from the stereotypical Canadian, just like a Somalian child-shagger in Sweden
is different from someone typically called 'Sven'.

When you take into consideration all the various skin colours, cultural norms, religious practices and political
goals in these news items it's the country they're in that calls unusual.
An equation would be better served if asked:
'Why is the Greektown shooting newsworthy if the ethnic background isn't important?'
and
'Does gang-violence have any similar attributes that can be highlighted?'

We know the answer and it isn't anything to do with mental deficiencies. -In my opinion.
Quote:"Guns are too readily available to too many people."

I see they are using the same line there as they are here in the States.
I also noticed this must not have been a white man, or else they would have made that point very clearly.

Come to Canada! We welcome you with open arms.  tinybiggrin

Wonder how long that will last before the people wake up and start a revolution like we're having in the U.S.?
I just hope there is something worth saving when these people finally wake up.
It all has to do with Unchecked Immigration.
They are not Vetted, just let them in because you're all Touchy Feely and Want Everyone To Like You.

There's many who see them as vulnerable people fleeing a world of poverty in search of a better life.
What they fail to perceive is that they look on these people as lesser and see themselves as superior.

Ergo, they see those from other cultures as helpless 'pets' and by naively catering for them -and preening
their own false virtues at the same time, they're seen as weak by the people who want what you have.

By gauging a quantity of people's worth by the skin colour, financial holdings or class-level, you miss the
individual's intent and whether it's good or bad.
It's actually a form mental racism!

Each person needs to be weighed and their intent known.
Well it's time to pull out the 'Mental Health'-card again and write-off any loss of life to a Canadian who
just didn't get with the program. Let us see who this ice-hockey-loving misunderstood chap is, heh?

Quote:Toronto gunman named by Canadian officials.

Faisal Hussain's family say he has had mental health problems for much of his life and that they are
"utterly devastated".

'Canadian officials have identified the man responsible for a mass shooting in Toronto as Faisal Hussain.
The 29-year-old Toronto resident is suspected of firing a handgun into restaurants and cafes in the city's
Greektown district on Sunday night local time, killing two people and injuring 13.

Those killed were a 10-year-old girl and student Reese Fallon, 18.

Ms Fallon had recently graduated high school and was volunteering for Canada's Liberal party before
starting university, where she was to train as a nurse.

Local politician Nathaniel Erskine-Smith said her family was "devastated" and had described her as
being "smart, passionate and full of energy". A Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise money for
a scholarship in her honour.
The thirteen people injured -seven males and six females -remain in hospital.

Hussain died after exchanging gunfire with police officers at the scene.
It is not clear whether he killed himself or whether he was shot by police, with Toronto police chief Mark
Saunders saying: "He received a gunshot wound, but I'm not going to expand on that".

The motive behind the shooting has not been established and police have said they will not speculate.
However, Hussain's family members said he had been mentally ill for much of his life.
In a statement, the family said he "had severe mental health challenges, struggling with psychosis and
depression".

They added that they had been "utterly devastated by the incomprehensible news" and their "hearts are
in pieces for the victims". "While we did our best to seek help for him throughout his life of struggle and
pain, we could never imagine that this would be his devastating and destructive end."

The shooting comes a few months after a man drove a van into pedestrians on a Toronto pavement, killing
10 people and injuring 14...'
SOURCE:

But his mental issues weren't severe enough that after arriving at the cognisant decision to take a life,
he dressed himself in a single colour, prepared his weapon and transported himself to the Greektown
district to accomplish his goal.

Knowing his anti-social desire would require him to work within a fluid situation -and with a limited
accuracy of a handgun, he sought his random victims, exchanged fire with those who wished him to
stop and eventually, fought against the natural will of his body to live and was f*ckin' killed.

The BBC reported: '...In a statement released to various media outlets, Hussain's family expressed their
"deepest condolences" to the victims and their families for what they called "our son's horrific actions".

They said their son suffered from serious mental health challenges and had struggled with untreatable
psychosis and depression most of his life...'

'...Faisal Hussain's family say he has had mental health problems for much of his life and that they are
utterly devastated"...'
They must feel terrible, it must be like losing a kid to crazy gunman or something.
Come on now, let's all feel sorry for the Hussain family.

Its so strange that its not islamic followers who are killing people, but "disturbed" people, and there family's never know any thing about the plans to kill before hand.
I would say that its just a cover story thats been used all over Europe as well.

Yep... and Id' be curious to know whether he called out some-type of 'phrase' as he pulled the trigger.
Mentally ill.

That seems to be the new excuse our medias come out with when ideologies or gangs strike innocent people.

Mentally ill. No shit?

Who, in his right mind goes out and runs a vehicle in a crowd or empties his gun at a Second Cup?

The big problem is that now citizens are calling for more screening, more security, more police force, more border control, more of this, more of that...but what about the ones who are already in?? And God knows there are...a shitload of them, be it in the U.S. of A, in Europe and here, in Canada.

The medias - and our governments - don't call it a hate crime; unless it's some white guy doing the bad deed, and THAT is a damn truth.

The medias - and our governments - don't call it racism, unless it's some white guy either.

Nope. It's mental illness.

Being nice to different groups counts for the next time the ballots come into action. It's ALL that matters.

Makes you wonder who is really mentally ill ?

I think all of us citizens are since we're not doing shit about it.

I think our head of governments are, be it municipal, provincial or state, or federal since no one's doing shit about it.

Mentally ill.

Two great words to ignore a profound problem that will only get worse with time.

It pisses me off. Ask the parents of that little girl that died if they give a flying fuck that this dude was mentally ill... Wouldn't they have preferred that it'd never happened? Would you think?

So, no. Let's all of us do fuck all about it and sweep it under the carpet with a cute little label.

Mentally ill.

Laura Loomer, an independent journalist, has reported that ISIS has claimed responsibility for the Toronto Shooting.

She's usually right in what she reports; she goes down the rabbit hole like some others don't.

I don't have a link; it was a tweet I just read.  I'll post it if I come across it.

Indeed they did my dear Mystical friend !

There's ridiculous and then there's ludicrous. They had pictures of him all over the net with machine guns. They had pictures of him abroad with machine guns. The police apparently knew about this guy.

But hey...sorry people died. The guy had mental problems.

I want the fucking seventies back. I miss 'em.

The 70's were the best years of my life too.

I wish I had known then how much things would change so I could have appreciated my life more during that time and not wasted a single moment to go out and have fun, not worrying about what color my hat was, or being shot by a drive-by shooter, or being able to eat out (or go anywhere for that matter) without wondering if some nut case would walk in and start spraying bullets at the crowd.

Yep, I miss those days too.   tinycrying

Quote:On at least one occasion, twelve days before 29-year-old Faisal Hussain killed two innocent girls and imprinted 14 others with a lifelong appreciation of true Islam, Toronto police braced for an impending terror attack, but instead of issuing credible warnings, chose to leave the public in the dark about the severity of the ongoing threat.

On Wednesday, July 11th the Toronto Police Service received what they classified as “credible information” regarding a “potential vehicle ramming attack” set to occur the next day in the area of the CN Tower, an iconic communications and observation tower located in Downtown Toronto.

According to an official police memo obtained and published by the Toronto Sun, Toronto Police treated the incident as a top-level emergency, and placed an “Enhanced Security Plan” in place, essentially launching a military-style anti-terror operation in the heart of Canada’s most populated city.

Further showing both the magnitude of the operation and the severity city officials believed the threat posed, a Major Incident Command Center (MICC) was established to oversea the deployment of “Specialized Support Units”, which included units trained in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE), and the deployment of an extensive ring of “heavy vehicles” to protect the areas surrounding the tower.
