A federal jury handed down the convictions for five defendants Wednesday in U.S. District Court in St. Paul. Thirty-one other defendants had previously pleaded guilty in the case.

At a press conference, officials stated that this was the largest sex trafficking ring ever dismantled by the federal government.
“Sex trafficking is an industry that is built on supply and demand and this organization fed that industry,” said U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota Erica MacDonald. “It exploited, it abused, enslaved, and sold women in response to the high demand of commercial sex that exists not only in the United States, but here in Minnesota.”



After receiving a tip about the operation in 2014, authorities in Minnesota managed to take down the international sex trafficking ring in 2016.

The victims, all women in their 30's, were smuggled from Bangkok, Thailand and sold in cities all over the country, including Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago and D.C.

The U.S. Attorney said that the women were sold like cattle until they could pay off a bondage debt. The operation went on for more than a decade and generated tens of millions of dollars. There were hundreds of victims and thousands of men who purchased these women.

Officials say that many of the women were misled to believe that participating in the scheme would lead to a better life.
“It was an organization that brought poor and vulnerable women from Thailand to the United States where they were forced to engage in sexual acts, every day all day and they couldn’t walk away,” said MacDonald.

Many of the victims are working to rebuild their lives. The defendants in the case will face sentencing next year.

The force had specialist safeguarding units across the county and worked with local authorities and
charities to "bring the perpetrators to justice", he said.

Det Insp Thornes urged any victims of sexual abuse, whether recent or historical, to report it to the police.
"Please be assured that you will be listened to, taken seriously and supported by professionals with
experience of dealing with these kind of offences," he added...'

Ambrosia, a startup founded by a Stanford Medical School graduate, has begun pouring the blood of the young into the hardened arteries of their elders in five cities, one of them San Francisco, according to a new report.

Founded in 2016 by Jesse Karmazin, an MD never licensed to practice medicine, Florida-based Ambrosia claims to be able to combat aging through infusions of blood plasma from younger people.

It’s now infusing patients in Los Angeles, Tampa, Omaha, Houston and the city by the Bay, according to Business Insider.
Initial interest was high, with about 100 potential patients contacting the company in the first week after it put up its website in September, the business website reported.

Tech entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel, who co-founded PayPal and Palantir and said in 2014 he was taking human growth hormone in hopes of living to 120 or beyond, has expressed interest in Ambrosia and said of death, “I prefer to fight it.”
So far, nearly 150 patients aged 35 to 92 — including 81 during a clinical trial — have received Ambrosia’s treatment, according to Business Insider.

The company calls its intravenous interventions “young plasma treatments.” Ambrosia says it sucks the blood (so to speak) of donors aged 16 to 25. For the older patients undergoing what the startup acknowledges is a “medical treatment,” there’s a pretty juicy volume discount: $12,000 for two liters. Patients are 30 or older, according to the company.

Karmazin, who worked for about two years as a medical resident but never became a licensed physician, said last year that an Ambrosia study found the treatments led to a 20 percent reduction in levels of two proteins, one linked to cancer and one to Alzheimer’s, The Guardian reported last year. At the time of that report, the median age of participants in the study — which cost participants $8,000 each — was 60, according to The Guardian.

The treatment was inspired by experiments on mice, Ambrosia says. Harvard University researchers have identified a substance in mouse blood they believed partly responsible for an anti-aging effect seen in old mice transfused with blood from young mice, The Guardian reported. Stanford researchers have also been studying such transfusions, known as “parabiosis,” since around 2000, according to Science magazine.

However, two UC Berkeley researchers who have also studied parabiosis in mice last year described Ambrosia’s treatments as “dangerous.”

“They quite likely could inflict bodily harm,” researcher Irina Conboy told Business Insider. “It is well known in the medical community — and this is also the reason we don’t do transfusions frequently — that in 50 percent of patients there are very bad side effects. You are being infused with somebody else’s blood and it doesn’t match.”

But Karmazin disputed Conboy’s conclusion, saying it was not supported by data or clinical experience, Business Insider reported.

“Millions of plasma transfusions are performed safely in the US each year and the FDA monitors the safety of the blood supply and transfusions closely,” Karmazin said.

Blood transfusions are approved by the Food and Drug Administration, which allows Ambrosia to provide them as an “off-label” type of treatment, Business Insider reported.

Conboy said research in mice linking anti-aging effects to blood infusions is not conclusive.
Ambrosia, in a filing with the U.S. National Library of Medicine about its clinical trial, had said the project would focus on inflammation, nerve development, stem cell proliferation, blood clotting, immune function and brain plaque associated with Alzheimer’s.

“Organ function which will be specifically measured includes the liver, bone marrow, kidneys, pancreas, muscles, cardiovasculature, cerebrovasculature, and the thyroid,” the filing said.

“Specific disease states connected to these biomarkers include anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, elevated risk of cancer, atherosclerosis, dementia, and cataracts.”

According to an indictment filed in the U.S., the FBI’s main suspect was Toronto-based Zongtao Chen, also known as Zong Tao Chen and Mark Chen.
The suspect allegedly led a criminal business that recruited women, primarily from China, to travel to the U.S. and elsewhere to engage in prostitution and other sex trafficking activities.

The indictment listed a number of international websites and the locations they advertised, including in Toronto, at Don Mills Rd. and Sheppard Ave. E., and in Calgary and Edmonton.
The international investigation began after nearly 20 anonymous tips came into Crime Stoppers of Oregon during the summer of 2016, according to the Oregonian.

“International prostitution ring operating in Portland,” a tip read, according to court documents reported by the newspaper. “When will you shut down this operation?’”

A person designated as a “boss” would oversee and manage a brothel in a hotel or apartment complex in the different cities the organization was operating, police said.

Customers looking for massages and escorts would call a number listed on www.supermatchescort.com or related websites, or send a message by text, email, or WeChat, an encrypted internet messaging service based in China.

The organization used dispatchers who would receive incoming requests from potential customers to set up “dates” with women working at the various brothels.

Dispatchers used a computer program to schedule and track all of the prostitution dates. This computer program had a customer database that logged more than 30,000 customer phone numbers with details from previous dates, police said.
Chen is accused of promoting illegal prostitution activities at brothels in three cities in Oregon — Portland, Tigard and Beaverton.
Undercover officers who set up “dates”’ on the websites were directed to sparsely furnished apartments with just a mattress in a bedroom along with a bedside stand filled with condoms, towels and bottles of oil and lubricants, FBI agent June Piniewski wrote in one search warrant affidavit, the Oregonian reported.

One woman who was waiting for an officer at one locations in Oregon told investigators she “just opens the door when a customer shows up and does whatever the customer says,” Piniewski wrote in the affidavit, according to the Oregonian.
A multi-jurisdictional takedown took place Tuesday in Canada, U.S. and Australia. The FBI shut down about 500 websites used by one of the alleged criminal enterprises, including www.supermatchescort.com, according to federal prosecutors.

“Protecting vulnerable foreign nationals from criminal traffickers seeking to exploit them for profit is a critically important law enforcement mission,” Billy J. Williams, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, said in a news release.

“Trafficking adults for sex can at times be overlooked by our society because some believe the adult victims have a choice. This notion is false. These victims are powerless and often thousands of miles away from their home, native language and personal connections who might help them escape. We have always and will continue to aggressively pursue criminals who exploit vulnerable victims.”

Chen, 46, was located and found to be living in the GTA, Toronto police said.
Chen and five others are charged with conspiracy to use interstate facilities to engage in racketeering and promoting, managing and carrying out a racketeering enterprise.

Chen appeared in court Wednesday to face an extradition request from the U.S. government.
Police are concerned there may be more victims. Toronto police said it is continuing their investigation into Chen regarding human trafficking-related offences that have taken place here.

Bean, a gay rights activist who donated almost $70,000 of his own money to former President Barack Obama’s campaign, was charged with sexual abuse in 2014 but the case was dismissed after the alleged victim did not testify. Prosecutors refiled the charges after this, court records stated, according to The Oregonian. The “alleged victim is not named in the new indictment” but the dates are similar to the previous charges, KGW8 noted.

Bean, a real estate developer, and his former boyfriend, Kiah Lawson, allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old boy in a Eugene, Oregon, hotel in September 2013. They allegedly used the app Grindr to arrange the sexual encounter. Lawson was also charged but his case was dismissed.

'Richard Delp, 35, was accused of sexually assaulting a beaver after it had been hit by a car.

A woman, Whitney Nycole, claimed she had found Delp lying down with the animal with his trousers undone.
Whitney had first discovered the poor creature just after it had been hit by a vehicle. As it was still breathing,
she rushed to grab supplies to help the animal.


Whitney Nycole had first seen the animal and returned home to get supplies for it.

She later told Officer Zach Moore she had gone home to get a box to carry the injured animal to a vet, according
to police and court documents. When she returned, she found Delp, who was lying on the ground and appeared
to be cuddling the beaver.

But when she got closer, she discovered he was semi-naked.
When Whitney asked what Delp was doing, he replied: "it's just a beaver."

The horrific alleged assault happened in Columbia Park, Kennewick, in the US state of Washington last September.
Delp was arrested on charges of felony animal cruelty and possession of methamphetamine.
Tragically, the beaver did not survive.

After his arrest, Delp is said to have admitted committing a sexual act with the animal. Delp, who is homeless, also
told police he was high on crystal meth when he carried out the assault. He was held in Benton County Superior Court
on $5,000 (£3,888) bail.

In court, his lawyer requested a mental health evaluation, and on Thursday, Prosecutor Craig Swenson confirmed he
is unable to stand trial. Swenson said: "Because of these facts the State is dismissing our charges without prejudice
against Mr Delp and authorising Eastern State Hospital to evaluate him for civil commitment."

He will stay in hospital until staff there decided that there isn't a strong likelihood he will commit the same crime again.

Ninety-three human trafficking task forces and teams from various counties were part of the 3-day operation.

Among those arrested during "Operation Reclaim and Rebuild" were pimps who had put victims up for sale and individuals soliciting sex from underage teens, sheriff's officials said. Some of those saved from the underground world of sex trafficking were runaways or victims found through social media and chat sites online.

"Dramatic stories" of rescues and arrests have been shared between law enforcement agencies, L.A. County Sheriff's Assistant Chief Maria Gutierrez told reporters.

Naming a few such cases, Gutierrez said an adult man was seen sexually assaulting a 6-year-old child in multiple videos showing graphic child pornography. A 30-year-old suspect was found and arrested within 24 hours of authorities coming across the clips, she said.

The suspect was on felony probation and was wanted for another unrelated crime, the assistant chief said.
In another case, a 17-year-old girl was lured from a nearby city to Fresno by a man who she met online, Gutierrez said. Believing she was going to have a relationship with him, she also brought her 14-year-old sister to make the move.

Upon their arrival, the two teens were forced to work in prostitution under the threat of violence, according to Gutierrez. The man who the older teen had been in contact with was a pimp who then sold the girls to another pimp for $6,000 just days later.

In the hours after, law enforcement officials were able to track down both victims and the suspect, officials said. A firearm was found at the suspect's location. The two teens were connected with victim-centered services and taken home.

Meanwhile, in Contra Costa County, a 54-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly sending photos of hundred dollar bills to a 15-year-old boy he was trying to "groom and entice" into meeting him at a park for sex, Gutierrez said. The teen was actually an undercover decoy who was one of the officers who later arrested the man when he arrived at the park.
Gutierrez described the suspect in that case as a "dangerous predator" who had already been convicted of lewd conduct offenses in 2003.

Law enforcement officials came across another potentially dangerous suspect after an online decoy was used to set up a meeting for sex at an Ontario motel room.

Upon entering the motel, that suspect was found with a 45-caliber pistol in his pocket and some meth, Gutierrez said. Seven other firearms, including assault weapons and handguns, were found inside his vehicle.
Officials said various tools are used in tracking down victims and suspects in the statewide sex trade, including bots who send texts to those soliciting sex.

The 3-day statewide sting took place during January as it's officially recognized by the federal government as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Some of the advocacy groups who work with victims include the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking and Saving Innocence.

The National Human Trafficking Hotline estimates that at least 760 cases were reported in the state of California in 2018. Nationwide, 6,244 cases of sex trafficking were reported in 2017, according to the hotline.

Standing alongside other human trafficking investigators from across the state, Gutierrez said authorities have a message for those working to sell, abuse and exploit victims.

"Don’t do business in Los Angeles County or the state of California because we will find you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law," she said.

Last year, Minneapolis police said 94 men were arrested in sex trafficking stings in the 11 days leading up to the Philadelphia Eagles’ win against the Patriots, according to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

In 2017, more than 100 arrests were made in Houston, Texas, when the Patriots saw the Atlanta Falcons at NRG Stadium, according to Reuters.

Women and children should never attend large events by themselves; you are making yourself an easy target.

Ballard said his organization rescued a young girl who was 13 when she was kidnapped from her village in Central America and then trafficked to New York City, where she was raped 30 to 40 times a day.

“Had there been a wall, Liliana’s traffickers would have likely been compelled to try their luck at any given port of entry, which are armed with advanced technology and well-trained officers,” Ballard wrote.

He said at the same time the young girl was being trafficked across an unprotected part of the U.S.–Mexico border, a young boy was rescued as his kidnappers tried to smuggle him through a port of entry. The 5-year-old boy had been kidnapped in Mexicali, Mexico, and traffickers attempted to cross the border at the Calexico port of entry to California.

“Alert officers, using their sharp skills and high-tech monitoring equipment, snagged the American trafficker … rescued the boy, and then identified an entire trafficking network, allowing us to rescue many more children,” Ballard said.

“The U.S. is one of the highest, if not the highest, consumers of child sex. As such, traffickers know they will becom
e very wealthy by getting their enslaved children into our country. We do these traffickers a great favor by leaving our border virtually wide open.”

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation has collected evidence from numerous studies that prove that pornography and America’s hypersexualized culture are driving the insatiable desire for sex and the purchase of sex, including that with children.

Arrests and Rescues
In California last week, an annual anti-sex-trafficking operation by law enforcement netted 339 arrests and rescued 48 victims—including 14 minors.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced the effort on Jan. 29 and said among the arrests were 36 suspected traffickers and exploiters, and 156 males charged with solicitation.

“To the Johns: Sex with a minor is nothing short of child molestation and we aim to treat it as such. Buying sex adds to the exploitation of those involved,” Assistant Sheriff Maria Gutierrez said at the press conference.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said, “We must help the young victims who are lured into sex trafficking and prosecute both the people who pay for sex with children and the traffickers who benefit financially from these horrendous crimes.”
In Atlanta, ICE Homeland Security Investigations agents made 33 arrests and rescued four victims in the past few days, according to a message from Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on Twitter Jan. 30.
In December, Jason Daniel Gandy of Houston was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for trafficking children for commercial sex, according to ICE.

Gandy, 41, was convicted on four counts of sex trafficking of minors, one count of transporting a minor, one count of sexually exploiting a child, and one count of transporting child pornography.

Gandy flew with an unrelated 15-year-old boy from Houston to London, where he intended to make the child perform massages during the 2012 Olympics, according to ICE. Gandy had also molested the child on more than one occasion and intended to continue doing so.

ICE identified or rescued 904 sexually exploited children in fiscal 2017. In fiscal year 2018, ICE made more than 1,500 human-trafficking arrests. Most were for sex trafficking.

In 2017, more than 8,500 cases of human trafficking were reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, with 6,000 of the cases related to sex trafficking. Reports are most commonly from California, Texas, and Florida.
State of the Union

President Donald Trump is expected to make border security a top feature during his State of the Union address at the Capitol on Feb. 5.

“I will say that some of them [guests] will be border-related, some of them will be people who have suffered very badly because we didn’t do what we should’ve done in a very dangerous part of our country, and so that’s going to be a part of it, absolutely.” Trump said in an interview with the Daily Caller on Jan. 30.

The president has been outspoken about human trafficking, saying the main victims are women and children.

“Women are tied up. They’re bound. Duct tape put around their faces, around their mouths. In many cases, they can’t even breathe,” Trump said at an event in the Rose Garden on Jan. 25. “They’re put in the backs of cars or vans or trucks. They don’t go through your port of entry. … There’s nobody to catch them. There’s nobody to find them.”

Congress is currently negotiating border-security funding before a Feb. 15 deadline, when a government shutdown will go into effect if no deal is reached.

Police said they found evidence of "witchcraft" in the woman's home, including limes stuffed with written curses.

The defendants, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, denied FGM and an alternative charge of failing to protect
a girl from risk of genital mutilation. Mrs Justice Whipple warned of a "lengthy" jail term as she remanded the woman into
custody to be sentenced on 8 March.

FGM - intentionally altering or injuring the female external genitalia for non-medical reasons - carries a sentence of up to
14 years in jail. During the trial, the woman claimed her daughter, then aged three, "fell on metal and it's ripped her private
parts" after she had climbed to get a biscuit in August 2017.

Medics alerted police to the girl's injuries after they treated her at Whipps Cross Hospital, in Leytonstone.
She "lost a significant amount of blood as a result of the injuries they had delivered and inflicted on her", jurors were told.

While the parents were on bail, police searched the mother's home and said they found evidence of "witchcraft".
Prosecutor Caroline Carberry QC said two cow tongues were "bound in wire with nails and a small blunt knife" embedded
in them.

Forty limes and other fruit were found with pieces of paper with names written on them stuffed inside, including those of police
officers and a social worker involved in the investigation. "These people were to 'shut up' and 'freeze their mouths'," Ms Carberry
said.

"There was a jar with a picture of a social worker in pepper found hidden behind the toilet in the bathroom," she added.
It is only the fourth FGM prosecution brought to court in the UK. The previous cases led to acquittals.
FGM campaigner Aneeta Prem, from Freedom Charity, said convictions were hard to secure because cuttings were
"hidden in secrecy".

"People are scared to come forward, professionals are scared to come forward to report this," she told the BBC.
"The fact that we have a conviction today is a really historic moment."

Home Secretary Sajid Javid said FGM was a "medieval practice".
"We will not tolerate FGM and not rest until perpetrators of this horrific crime are brought to justice," he added.

Lynette Woodrow, from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said the "sickening" offence had been committed against a
victim with "no power to resist or fight back".
"We can only imagine how much pain this vulnerable young girl suffered and how terrified she was," she said.
"Her mother then coached her to lie to the police so she wouldn't get caught, but this ultimately failed."

Ms Woodrow said FGM victims were often affected physically and emotionally for "their entire life"...'

before selecting his female victim.

He then removed the body from the coffin, took off her clothes and then "interfered with her" in the chapel of rest,
leaving her face down on the floor. Another female body was found face down in a coffin with her lower clothing
pulled down while seven other corpses were disturbed, the judge heard.

Police were then alerted by the parlour's alarm and turned up to find the depraved pervert still at the scene where
he was "more concerned" about leaving his watch inside. Khurum, who had been drinking vodka and smoking mamba,
told officers: "I bet you think I've been 'sh***ing them don't you?".

He then sickeningly added: "Every hole is a goal".

Jobless Khurum, who was previously sectioned, pleaded guilty to charges of penetration of a corpse and burglary in
December. Today he was told his offences "offended all human sensibility" as he was sentenced to six years in jail at
Birmingham Crown Court.

Khurum, wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and khaki trousers and sporting a goatee, wept in the dock as evidence
was read out. The victim's family also sobbed as they heard details of what Khurum did to the bodies of their loved ones.
Sentencing, Judge Melbourne Inman QC said: "The offences you have committed offend all human sensibility.

"It would be difficult to think of a greater deprivation of the dignity of the dead other than that which you did to the victim.
"I have not been able to find any similar case. "Your intention was to steal anything you could find of value inside.
You broke into the office and then you went further into the building.

"There were nine bodies at rest in the chapel of rest and you set about disturbing all nine.
"By the time you was arrested it was found all nine coffins had been disturbed.
"One of the lids had been left on the face of a person leaving a mark. Another female had been moved out of the coffin
with her lower clothes removed. "It was total degradation of the dead."

Robert Price, prosecuting, said nine bodies were at the funeral home at the time and one lid was left open as relativ
had attended that day to see them in chapel of rest. He told the court how three coffins had been "disturbed or moved"
while a funeral urn containing ashes had also been moved.

Mr Price said: "Members of the family involved sought counselling and medication. It was the violation of a beautiful person.
"The family have been caused immeasurable hurt."
In a statement read to the court, the family said: "The actions of this monster is like a thunderbolt to the heart of our family.
We were already dealing with grief. "The pain caused by this cannot be expressed."

The court how psychiatrists said Khurum's mental state "was all over the place" and he had been "behaving in a disturbed
manner". A doctor described his mental state as "psychotic and manic" and concluded he was suffering from a mental
condition at the time of the offence.

Joseph Keating, defending, said: "Nothing I can say can stop the suffering they have endured for what he has done.
"He has had the victim impact statement read to him and he became upset. "He hopes over time his actions he undertook
will not tarnish the memories the loved ones will have of the victims involved.

"The offences were committed at a time when he had consumed alcohol and drugs.
"He had been drinking vodka and smoking mamba. He stated that his head was all over the place.
"He was walking past the Co-op and saw it as a place to get money. He didn't know in his fuelled state that it was a funeral home.
"He only changed his intentions when he saw what was in the building."

Keating added: "He knows the impact this had had on the families and is deeply remorseful -he knows his actions were disgusting
and abhorrent. "He wanted an opportunity to say sorry to the families and realises he won't get that chance today but through me he
wants to say sorry."...'

You are correct that what we once thought in our minds of these places no longer applies.  Sad... just so sad.  I have faith that someday they can be restored to the beauty and glory they were once famous for. Those days may be longer off than we wish, but the first steps are being taken. It depends on how strong the people are to carry forward and how bad they want their old values back.

As for the woman who butchered her daughter, I have a spell of my own for her.  May she be found guilty and prosecuted to the full degree the law allows, and may she never see the outside of a jail cell again! May the angels of goodness take the evil ones out and send them back to the darkness from which they came!  May they bind her and her curses to come back on her quickly and for all eternity!  

What she did to this innocent child is beyond deplorable!

sexually abusing a young girl over a four-month period.   

Melinda Smith, 35, and Jason Whitney, 43, were each charged on Tuesday in Rancho Cucamonga with eight
counts of sexual acts against a child under the age of 10. Smith has starred in a number of porn films under
the stage name Mercedes Carrera.



Her partner Whitney, who goes by the name Daemon Cins, has produced and directed a number of adult films,
web shows and porn awards shows. Police were notified of the sex abuse allegations on January 31 and
interviewed the young girl. 

She told detectives that she had been abused by Smith and Whitney over four months.
'The sexual abuse consisted of inappropriate touching, oral copulation and digital penetration, which occurred
over four months,' Rancho Cucamonga Police said in a statement.

Police executed a search warrant on the couple's home on Friday and said they uncovered evidence that
corroborated the victim's statement.  They found Smith and Whitney's bedroom set-up so they could film
and record various pornographic videos or web shows. 
Police also found methamphetamine and two loaded handguns in the home.

Smith and Whitney have been charged with eight counts of sexual acts with a child under 10 years old and one
count possess controlled substance while armed with a handgun. 
They were both denied bail and remain in custody. Both are due to be arraigned on Wednesday.

She recently hosted the red carpet event for the XBIZ Awards - an adult industry awards ceremony. Smith posed

graphic video. Detectives believe the couple may have more victims.
