Confederate statue toppled in North Carolina during anti-racism rally.

Protesters take action in Durham in response to violent far-right rally held in Charlottesville in
which a woman was killed.

'Protesters in North Carolina toppled a nearly century-old statue of a Confederate soldier on
Monday at a rally against racism.

Activists in Durham brought a ladder to the statue and used a rope to pull down the Confederate
soldiers monument. A diverse crowd of dozens cheered as the bronze statue fell and others
began to kick it.

Isaiah Wallace said he watched as the statue fell and said he hoped other Confederate symbols
elsewhere would follow. “I was a little bit shocked people could come here and come together
like that,” said Wallace, who is black.
“I feel like this is going to send shockwaves through the country and hopefully they can bring
down other racist symbols.”

The Durham protest was in response to a white nationalist rally held in Charlottesville, Virginia,
over the weekend. One woman was killed on Saturday after a car was driven into a group of
peaceful counter-protesters.

Although the violence in Virginia has prompted fresh discussion among government officials about
bringing down symbols of the Confederacy around the south, North Carolina has a law protecting
them.

The 2015 law prevents the removal of such monuments on public property without permission from
state officials...'

After the statue fell, several dozen protesters congregated on the street in front of the old courthouse

in front of a pedestal inscribed with the words “In memory of the boys who wore the gray.”

Williamson, who is black, said he could sympathize with people upset by the state of racial discourse
in the country. “People feel that with Donald Trump as leader, racists can be vocal,” he said.

He said that while Confederate monuments have been defaced in other cities, it was surprising to see
an entire statue brought down by protesters. “This is a little bit more intense,” he said...'

Personally, I can see how The Guardian article could've titled this as:
'Mob-Rule Vandalises Public Property -Says City Hall'

But... heh, that's just me being cynical.
This Racial Discourse all started in 2008 with Obama giving the 13% of Black people In Our Country the Idea They are Running our Country and That their Opinion means More Than Any One Else's.
They are Entitled To Every Thing For Nothing in Return except Their Contempt!
Thing is, the civil war here was fought not over slavery, but over states rights. Slavery was simply the "emotional" thing they could toute in order they could rally people, this is proven by the fact there were northern slave states that were exempt from freeing their slaves. Only southern slaves states had to do this, and only so blacks would fight in the war. The abolitionists didn't want to allow blacks to stay in this country, but rather, they wanted to ship them back to Africa (although that is not what ended up happening in the end, in large part due to those "racists" who thought they were real people, who fought for the confederacy)

To pretend that the confederate were a bunch of racists is BS. They were no more racist than northerners at the time, and the clear majority of people who fought in that war never owned a slave in their life. They fought to be free from federal control, and to have a voice in their own government.

The communists are trying to both rewrite history, as well as erase it. Typical of communists. They are destroying property. And trying to destroy any symbol of independence.

They are communists, it's not a big leap to know why they are doing this. But it's terribly sad, and if the government doesn't take action, it's not going to end well.

You are absolutely right, but from what I'm seeing being taught in our schools today, our youth (most of the protesters) have no idea about the TRUE history of our country; they just believe whatever the MSM or the leader of the next "protest" tells them. That $25 and up an hour that Soros is paying them doesn't help to keep things calm either.

No, they don't know history your correct. But I find no excuse not to know it.. they should be able to read one hopes. They are only limited by what's in the library..
One look at national history being destroyed is living proof that yes, racism is alive and well in the south. I really wish it would go back to hell where it came from!!!!!!!

I'm Sure We All Agree With You,,, Dear Spirit Scribe.
Erasing those no longer in the favor of The Party is nothing new. It goes back to at least ancient Egypt, where Queen Hatshepsut was officially erased, her name obliterated from her monuments and statues after her death - all because she was a woman who dared to be a pharaoh.

Some folks never learn - Hatshepsut is still known, probably more so now because of their attempt to erase her.

In more recent times, has the world forgotten Tsar Nicholas, in spite of the Communist party's sincere attempts to erase him - to the extent of wiping his entire blood line from  the Earth? What about Trotsky? They tried to erase even his memory as well, after they used him to gouge their way to the top. Nope, the world still remembers Trotsky.

Moving on 70 years or so, have they managed to erase the memory of Stalin or Lenin simply by pulling down their statues?

Nope. Failed again.

What about pulling down the statue of Saddam Hussein in Baghdad? Did that erase him from the world memory? Nope. Maybe the memory still too fresh, and maybe that stupid shit of pulling down statues doesn't work they way they think. Hey - 3,000 years of solid failure doesn't necessarily mean THIS attempt won't work, right?

Dumbasses.

By all means, liberals! Please continue with your whiny, lame attempts at revisionist history. All you are doing is drawing more attention, solidifying the place in history of that which you wish to erase. It's going to backfire on you, like it always does, always has. It's nothing if not entertaining to watch you screw the pooch...

... again.

Now, for the rest of the story:

Quote:DURHAM

The protester who climbed a ladder to help bring down a Confederate soldier statue was arrested Tuesday, and Sheriff Mike Andrews said his office will pursue felony charges against others.

“Let me be clear, no one is getting away with what happened,” Andrews said.

Takiyah Thompson, a member of Workers World Party and student at N.C. Central University, was arrested after activists held a press conference at NCCU Tuesday afternoon.

In a release Thompson said she was the one who tied a rope around the soldier’s neck so that others could pull the statue to the ground.

The protest left The Confederate Soldiers Monument, dedicated on May 10, 1924, headless on the grass.

Thompson was charged with participation in a riot with property damage in excess of $1,500 (Class H Felony) and inciting others to riot where there is property damage in excess of $1,500 (Class F Felony), the Sheriff’s Office said.

She also was charged with disorderly conduct by injury to a statue and damage to real property, both misdemeanors.

What an interesting name. "Takiyah" appears to be derived from "taqqiyah", an Arabic word meaning "to conceal the truth", i.e. "lie", if it can be used to one's advantage.

Imagine that. Her very name is kinda "Lie to Gain Advantage".

SO, Miss Takiyah... how are you at dodging books? I ask because it looks like one has just been thrown at you.

Watch this space - more arrests are promised, and by golly, the dumbasses videoed themselves and released it, now didn't they?

ETA - According to the article, Miss Takiyah was a member of the Workers World Party. Do y'all know who and what they are? I do. Wait long enough, and even the deepest cover will get exposed. There should be no doubt in folks' minds who is behind this unrest in the US now, all the while those behind it are pointing at Russia (no longer the communist Soviet Union, by the way) screaming "Lookey over there! The commies are coming, the commies are coming!" to distract the masses from the fact that the commies are already here, and hard at work destabilizing America.

They had a list of demands. Can we recall what sort of people make lists of demands? All of the demands were political. They were backed by violence. Do you know what people are called who use violence to further political goals?

Terrorists.

I can't for the life of me understand why the "demonstrators" are not being charged with terrorism as well.

So now we have terrorists AND communists in our midst wreaking violence, and the communists and terrorists are more often than not combined in the same bodies, and are certainly working together to bring down the US even when they aren't in the self-same body.

Folks sometimes wonder why I still have the occasional nightmare.

Quote:Groups at the rally included members of the Triangle People’s Assembly, Workers World Party, Industrial Workers of the World, Democratic Socialists of America and the antifa movement.

I encourage you to research these groups, find out who they are, what they are, their aims and goals... and the history of where they come from. I also encourage you to research the history, development, tactics, strategies and procedures of every single communist movement that has ever taken over a country, just to see if perhaps the same thing may be at play here, in the good ol' USA.

Then research the results of those takeovers. It can be eye-opening.

Dumbass move that they keep repeating. Not only is it illegal to block free passage in public spaces, it's also dangerous I hear, as there are folks around who don't mind mowing you down with their cars if you try to illegally detain them. Can't say that I blame such folks all that much - Reginald Denny, among many many others, took a hell of a beating that changed him forever and utterly ruined him for allowing such folk to block his passage. In military terms, they call that an "ambush", and some folks just won't stand for it.

They'll defend themselves by any means available, including keeping that several thousand pound chunk of metal on the move.

Well, I've actually worked with some of those deputies in Durham, back before "The Troubles" that saw me either either ejected from or fleeing from North Carolina (which one it is depends on who is telling the story). That's where I lived when we had our phone conversation.

Anyhow, "working closely with" does not give me the right to second-guess them, but I'm going to give an opinion of the rationale anyhow, because that's what I do - it's my "thing".

My best guess (and it's only a guess) is that the reasoning was "it's easier to arrest them one by one at our leisure than it is to face an overwhelming and outnumbering angry mob all at once". If you ever notice, the constabulary always seeks to be on the side of numbers whenever entering a fray. If they don't have the numbers to concentrate force and overwhelm the mob, then their choices are limited. they either A) get their asses handed to them and suffer a defeat, or B) have to open fire on said angry mob, which carries it's own set of defeats when the press and the likes of BLM, ANTIFA, Workers World Party, etc get a-hold of it and spin it up for the press.

Some times, in these interesting games, "the only way to win is not to play" until YOU have the numbers on your side for a concentration of force.

That's my best guess, anyhow. Take it for what it's worth - my opinion will get one a cup of coffee at McDonalds if you add $1.30 to it.

Probably so - what they're doing now is not much different from destroying the Buddha statues at Bamiyan, is it? Granted, that was the Taliban rather than ISIS, but there really ain't much difference between them, in the final analysis.

Quote:Your history lesson for the day.

Robert E Lee was married to George Washington's granddaughter. He worked with Grant during the Mexican-American war and became a decorated war hero defending this country He believed slavery was a great evil and his wife broke the law by teaching slaves to read and write. After the civil war he worked with Andrew Johnson's program of reconstruction.
He became very popular with the northern states and the Barracks at West Point were named in his honor in 1962. He was a great man who served this country his entire life in some form or other. His memorial is now being called a blight. No American military veteran should be treated as such.

People keep yelling, "You can't change history." Sadly you can. This is no better than book burnings. ISIS tried rewriting history by destroying historical artifacts. Is that really who we want to emulate?
As they tear down this "blight" keep these few historical facts in your mind. No military veteran and highly decorated war hero should ever be treated as such. This is not Iraq and that is not a statue of Sadam.

IN ADDITION:: Lee was also very torn about the prospect of the South leaving the Union. His wifes grandfather George Washington was a huge influence on him. He believed that ultimately, states rights trumped the federal government and chose to lead the Southern army. His estate, Arlington, near Washington DC was his home and while away fighting the war, the federal government demanded that Lee himself pay his taxes in person. He sent his wife but the money was not accepted from a woman. When he could not pay the taxes, the government began burying dead Union soldiers on his land.

The government is still burying people there today. It is now called Arlington National Cemetery. DO THEY WANT TO TEAR THAT UP ALSO ??

Quote:There have been four arrests in the wake of the vandalism of a Confederate statue Monday night in Durham, North Carolina.
Takiyah Fatima Thompson, Dante Emmanuel Strobino, Ngoc Loan Tran and Peter Hull Gilbert have all been arrested in relation to the unlawful tearing down of the prominent Durham statue.

According to local media, the four could be in for big fines if found guilty:
Quote:All three are charged with disorderly conduct by injury to a statue and damage to real property, which are both misdemeanors, and participation in a riot with property damage in excess of $1,500 and inciting others to riot where property damage exceeds $1,500, which are both felonies.

However, those arrested have something other than potential big fines in common. It turns out that at least three of them are members of the Communist Party. This seldom-reported fact is inconvenient to the narrative that the protest were spontaneous. The protests were in fact organized in large part by the communist Workers World Party, which the arrested members belong to.
According to ABC News, Workers World Party is fighting to bring about a socialist America (emphasis added):
Quote:It's a communist party that was founded in 1959 by a group led by Sam Marcy of the Socialist Workers Party. The group supports myriad issues including anti-racism to anti-imperialist struggles.
The party is active in the Black Lives Matter movement and supports the struggles of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. The group says they're “dedicated to organizing and fighting for a socialist revolution in the United States and around the world.”The group said it destroyed the statue hoping to “take down white supremacy.”
On Facebook, the communist group has called for the abolition of police and prisons:

Curious how, when that began to be noticed, reported, and commented upon - despite the left's best efforts at redirection and misdirection in trying to blame ONE side of what appeared to be what is legally known as a "mutual combat" - there suddenly appears on the eastern horizon an assault in Spain to draw all attention away from Charlottesville and Durham ... and communist subversion in America... in the news cycles.
