I have a double-whammy thread for you; a conspiracy, and a ghost story, so I hope you enjoy it.

I was introduced to a show called Ghost Brothers by my friend last night. This particular show was investigating the Memorial Building in Newport, TN, where 39 bodies from a plane crash were brought and laid out in a large room, and they stayed there for over two weeks until the hospital/morgue could take them. Ever since that time, eerie sounds and disembodied voices have been heard in the building, and many people say they get sick or feel uneasy inside the building.

What sparked my interest in sharing this in a thread is wondering if there might be a conspiracy involved with this plane crash; things sound really fishy to me.

The plane was leaving out of Washington DC, heading to Knoxville, TN. There were "four widely known blood specialists" aboard this flight, and "papers concerning Oak Ridge, site of one of the Atomic Energy Commission's largest installations were confiscated by an FBI agent."

Quote:The Federal Aviation agency (FAA) in Washington said there was no indication of trouble from the pilot at last radio contact. The FAA said there were scattered thunderstorms in the area, but that weather conditions generally were good.

MRS. J. E. WALDROP, who lives on a farm near Newport, said she saw a flash in the sky and watched the plane come down. "The plane crashed into the side of a hill," she said.

The FAA said the pilot radioed at 6:03 p.m. that he was canceling his instrument flight plan. It meant that the pilot, for some reason, had departed from the flight plan filed in Washington.

You can read more about the crash here: United Plane Crash 1964

So... the pilot departed his flight plan, and shortly afterward the plane blew up in the sky.  This leads me to ask if the pilot (or someone else) had an explosive device he used to cause the explosion, or if someone on the ground used one of those boxes they were putting in the planes illegally to blow the plane up? (See the video below at the 6:59 mark)  Or, was it hit by lightening, even though no one saw any storms close by?

The people aboard the plane and the important papers confiscated by the FBI sways me to think more was going on here than meets the eye.

Now, to the ghostly activity where the dead were taken...

This group of three African-American ghost hunters will make you laugh at times; you know how easily they scare about such things, right?
But things get serious when they pick up a spirit with them, and doors bang closed, etc.

I hope you enjoyed this.  I look forward to any comments you have on this incident.
Here is more to go along with the conspiracy side of this story.

Pay attention beginning at the 9:50 mark, then also at the 15:25 mark where Field talks about the ACARS, (Aircraft Communications Addressing, and Reporting System).

What captured my attention was that this device can be shut off from someone on the ground, and the flight path can be controlled by it too.
This is what happened to the United flight that crashed in 1964. The report says they took a different route for unknown reasons,  lost communication for several minutes, then, when communication was regained, the plane exploded.  Hmmm...   minusculethinking

Although the ACARS was not OFFICIALLY put on planes until 1978, I'm sure the Air Force and Military Divisions had this technology long before it was made public.  Could it have been installed on the United Flight before taking off from Washington DC?

Some may say there is nothing going on... the crash was just an accident, and never think about it again.  But, I say there are many unanswered questions involving this flight, especially considering some of the people aboard.

Exciting thread.
That plane sounds like a it was blown up in flight. Today they have ways of determining if some form of explosive was used, I'm sure all the pieces of that plane were disposed of by now.
Murder.
